>"Let's move to Kourindou, we need to get to the bottom of this."
>Bid any necessary farewells.

> Marisa's house - and the Forest of Magic - quickly drop away as Marisa takes you up and away on her broom. The journey is quick and uneventful.
> Within minutes you set down outside your destination.
> It is uncharacteristically noisy inside the shop: a group of twenty or so youkai, an eclectic crowd indeed, most of them unfamiliar, are shouting over each other, waving scraps of paper in the air.
> You can spot Rinnosuke at his usual place at the counter, his entire attention still fixed on the scroll. He - and a few of the other youkai in the crowd - is relentlessly scribbling in a notebook, every so often ripping out the page and giving over to someone.

> Marisa gives a sour look at the congregation.
> "Yeah, these Value players were usually quiet. More importantly, they were spread out. Guess they're trying to get the most out of the tournament before you shut it down. Figures Rinnosuke would be at the lead of it - he's made a lot of money off this thing."
> An unfamiliar-looking person - a Youkai, judging by the smoke streaming from her eyes - in a heavy white hooded cloak edges up to you and speaks in a low whisper.
> "You're Hieda, aren't you? Is it true you're not going to be fighting any more? Not my business, of course, but your Value is phenomenal at the moment. It'd be a real shame to waste it like that."

Things happen bro, sometimes folks can't think of anything to input.
It's times like that where you sometimes have to give more stuff to work with, in hopes that it'll inspire 'em!

>"I believe so, shall we?"
>Let's head out with Marisa once more!

Where to now folks?

Hell, let's look at everything why don't we?
That way we know what all's there, and we can hammer out ideas from there.

> >:|
> You see:
> Mundane Tool: Hammer. Complexity: 2. Everything will look like a nail with this tool equipped.
> Mundane Garment: Straw Hat. Complexity: 1. A simple rice-farmer's wide-brimmed straw hat. Shades the eyes from the sun.
> Mundane Weapon: Musket. Complexity: 3. A worn musket that still seems to be in working condition. Comes with enough materials for a few shots.
> Rare Tool: Gohei. Complexity: 0/Special. An essential part of a shrine maiden's panoply, this rod with elaborately-woven paper streamers attached to the end is essential in the practice of driving out evil spirits.
> Rare Garment: Elaborate Head-dress. Complexity: 3. You've seen this before, but the last time you recall seeing it, it was being worn by Shikieki.
> Rare Weapon: Staff. Complexity: 6. A seven-foot-long staff of black metal with golden bands at both ends.
> Exotic Tool: Crossbow. Complexity: 3. This appears to be a crossbow on first glance, but a complicated assembly of wires, cords and pulleys on the sides of the arms suggest a different function. It seems that the projectiles that it fires trail a cord behind them.
> Exotic Garment: Elegant Men's Clothing. Complexity: 3. An ensemble of well-crafted men's clothing consisting of trousers, shirt and jacket. It looks well-crafted and comfortable.
> Exotic Weapon: Yellow device. Complexity: 1. With a handle and trigger assembly similar to that of a crossbow, it is obvious how this weapon should be used. A note attached to this reads: "Incapacitates human target for a long time. Untested on Youkai, but limited effectiveness on fairies suggests their improved resilience. One shot only, twenty feet maximum, shoots in straight line. Requires reloading upon use."

I dunno, that Staff is pretty interesting.
The Gohei might be useful, but so could the Crossbow.

What do you guys think?

crossbow could aid us in climbing.
>is there a crank attached to the crossbow?
>how much weight can that cord hold
The yellow device suggests taser.
do you guys think the added ranged of the taser is useful?

I'm thinking that investing in weapons when we're crusading for peace is a poor idea. It makes us seem two-faced about it.

> The cord disappears into a drum the size of your fist on the underside of the crossbow. There does not appear to be any crank, but there are a few switches near the grip that might work a winding mechanism.
> Hard to say. You certainly can't break it with your bare hands.

Ah, but a staff isn't just a weapon. It also can serve as a walking stick, lever for rubble and etc, as well as a means of boosting us somewhere with pole vaulting!
And plus, there's always the chance that the celestial behind all this mess won't go peacefully.
Especially if it's who I think it is. She's not the sort to go quietly.
Trust me, my general weapon of choice happens to be a Staff, so I know what one can do with a staff outside of combat.
And consider that it's metal. Say we have to get someone out from under something, and that something's too heavy for us normally? That staff can serve as a strong lever.

Also, consider this.
What object did the various monks carry? A staff. What was their main ideal? Peace, or fighting to bring it about if need be.
We're essentially doing just that.

They didn't go around carrying black metal staves of obvious asskicking. They carried simple lengths of wood.

Besides, we're way more dangerous unarmed by this point.

if we use the staff, I'd expect it to be more of a tool for non-violent purposes because most if not all Akyu's training was for unarmed.

The problem being it's not a staff so much as a big metal whup-ass stick. Which is going to draw attention due to being a big metal whup-ass stick. If it were a normal staff, it'd be one thing.
