Considering the lifelessness Hell Raven is sporting, the problem might be mind control. We could give a Kiai to see what's up, and attempt to disable any connections....

>How much can we extend Qi from our body?  Can we create a sharp edge with it?

> Satori did almost outright say that Utsuho is being mind-controlled, or some similar effect. She did use pretty flowery language, though.
> You are not quite able to project your Qi - you are able to control and focus it in and immediately around your body. Your nails might do as a base sharp edge, though...

>Do we feel we could shape our Qi to counter that which is binding Utsuho to the reactor, or the think that the shadow wears on her chest?

This said, I think Qi would probably be more effective through us than through the sword, unless we need the sword to physically pierce a thing. I don't think sharpness would matter when magic is concerned.

Right, so if we're all set to beat the sparkles out of magic, we need some target proirity. Thinking of disabling the Corvid Artillary first, then maybe a blitzkrieg to the shadow. Or maybe a Kiai strike to the shadow first, and Switch to take care of the Raven.

My thoughts are the best thing we could do is try to attack all those things connecting Utsuho to the reactor. Either it will work, or go catastrophically bad and force a premature end to the battle.  As well, she's less likely to react to us coming.

> Destroying the bindings requires direct interaction with them. Indeed, it is more the quality and quantity of your Qi than whether you are channeling it through something that will determine how much damage is dealt. As such, you are trying to duplicate Meiling's secret technique - the Spell-Shattering Palm, which, at your level of expertise, is going to be a great challenge. You will need time and effort to set up even a single Qi-imbued strike.
> The same applies to the mass of magic on the shadow's chest.

>How does Utsuho's armor seem to be physically attached?

> There seems to be at least some mystical component there - the metal plates are fused to the underlying mesh with a noticeable magical effect. Now you look at it, the armour seems to form the anchor points for the connections to the main reactor.

>Where on the reactor are those lines of Qi connecting? Do these points of connection seem to correspond to some physical feature of the reactor?

> The lines trail from a web of magic that more or less surrounds and penetrates the reactor. The lines come from areas where the web is most dense, but there is no direct connection to the reactor's physical properties.

That's more of a "we don't know until we try" type deal.

>How much cover can we afford ourselves if we tried to sneak over to Shadow? What about a path to the raven?

>How much cover can we afford ourselves if we tried to sneak over to Shadow? What about a path to the raven?

> There is less cover around Utsuho, but she appears quite focused on trying to shoot down Marisa. There is more cover around the central area, but the shadow's ducking and weaving away from Marisa makes it difficult to keep up with it.

>Do we feel we could try to break that web with our Qi?

> That's a lot of magic. You might need multiple Spell-Shattering Palms to break it all down, and you can barely even manage a single one.

> The cavern is mostly artificial, and is too dry for stalactite and stalagmite growth. That does not preclude a ceiling approach, however.
> Utsuho floats around 4-5 metres off the ground.

> In contrast to the ritual required to form it, activating the link is as simple as focusing one's Qi - the actual manner of focus varies from user to user and is entirely based on personal preference - and feeling the connection. The magic does the rest of the work in forming the long-range bonds and transferring Qi back and forth.

>_

> You skitter up the wall, sticking to shadows and clefts in the rock to remain out of sight. You notice Marisa barely clipping a plasma ball, incinerating her left sleeve and leaving a nasty black mark on her shoulder.
> In a few seconds, you find yourself close enough to Utsuho, and enact plan "Hurl self bodily at enemy and wing it from there."

> You launch yourself off the wall, arms spread, in trusty Hieda Tackle fashion.
> Perhaps sensing something amiss, Utsuho spins around just a fraction too late and a hint of surprise crosses her normally-expressionless face as you slam into her.
> You can feel yourself accelerating downwards - you have about a second before you and her crash into the ground.

>Draw upon Meiling's aid. Brace for impact.

> The magic-enhanced Qi bond feels like nothing you've experienced before. It is almost like you are in two places at once, thinking with two minds, feeling with two bodies, yet you're here, right here, and you can feel the rush of power as the ghostly form of Meiling materialises behind you. It feels like years, yet not even a moment has passed...

> With incredible agility, you swing around Utsuho, grabbing her by the waist from behind and, arcing your back, slamming downwards into a stone-shattering suplex as both of you hit the ground.
> Moments later, the fully-materialised Meiling proxy crashes down into Utsuho with a thunderous elbow drop that sends cracks running up and down her armour.
> A few moments after that, the feeling returns to your legs and feet, and your vision clears.

> You hear a halting voice with a metallic tinge as Utsuho speaks from her prone position, "...Damage within...acceptable parameters. Battle mode engaged...Altering space."
> You can feel your hair stand on end as the very air around you starts to spark.

>"Satori doesn't want you to do this, Utsuho."

> You dodge backwards just in time - a plasma sphere zaps into existence where you just were, heating the rock underneath to a dull red.
> Utsuho kips up and dashes backwards, hovering three inches above the ground, her gaze, once again expressionless, fixed on you.
> "...Loading...Loading...Subject "Satori" found. Irrelevant attachment, no contribution to required function."
> She raises her hands to shoulder-height, and the air around you once again starts to spark.
