Yuki: "Hm... I wonder if I can make something with a little more oomph?"

Yuki: "Hm... Halfway there, but still needs more work."

Ruby: "Right.  This time use fire."

Success!  Gained $40 and 1 gem.

Ruby: "It's not clear exactly, but theres a safe perimeter where we can do all the gem wrok we need to."

2: Mai - Research

Mai learned Devil Trigger.
For 200 mana you can double a devils effectiveness with no appreciable side effects.


Mai: "Useful."

3: Hibachi - Acquire Books.

Hibachi: "Strange.  No one's selling right now..."

Gained 5 wood and iron via random dealing.

4+5: Eskarina + Apophis

Apophis: "Hm... This won't be easy."

Eskarina: "But we'll take a shot."

Eureka!  It takes $755, but the two devils manage to develop a whole new field of magical architecture.

6: Helepolis - Training

Helepolis: "Hm...  It's fun.  But I don't think I'm learning much."

"Damn and blast it all." The figure swore.  "Well, sorry for disturbin ye matey.  We'll be back again next year."

As the airship sailed off Yuki muttered vile threats towards whichever devil had thought it would be funny to sell piracy licenses.  Sure it cut down on the amount of robberies during the year, but it was a PAIN suring the season.

Yuki's plot to find out their likeness and send it to Alice for curse doll testing was interrupted by Mai rushing out of the house.  "What is it?"

Mai simply held out a paper, pointing at the obituaries.

Yuki noticed the name immediately.  "That old coot kicked the bucket?  Good riddiance.  Frozen by a fairy?  Ahahahaha, that makes it even better."  Yuki smiled at her friend.  "Thanks, I needed that."

Mai sighed and shook the paper again.  "Look."

Yuki checked where Mai's finger was pointing now.  Then her eyes widened.  "Cassia, Eskarina, Hibachi pack your bags!  We've got an auction to go to!"

The magician community was out in force.

Fortunately Joan had insisted on coming as well, and she was very good at politely clearing a path.  This helped secure Yuki and her entourage a good bidding position.  Sadly they didn't have the cash to get the GOOD artifacts, but hopefully they'd still be able to pick up some useful stuff.

"Okay, here's the plan.  Escarina, give me some non verbal signal when the item going up is worth something to you.  I can get the magical stuff but science isn't my field.  Hibachi.  You scan the room.  Give me a cue if someone's obviously going to keep bidding.  Might as well try to bankrupt our competitors early on.  Cassia, keep us in budget.  I don't want negative numbers next month.  Give me a queue when we should stop."  Yuki looked over the three devils.  "Got it?"

"Yes Miss Yuki," they all replied.

"Do I hear 50? 50! 60? 60!"

Yuki's eyes narrowed.  It looked like a fierce bidding war had already started up.  And at least one of the participants looked like they were only going to make one big end purchase.  Still she wasn't sure.

"Do I hear 900?"

Yuki jumped up as someone groped her breasts from behind.  Suddenly realizing what had happened she raised her auction number into the air, while smacking Hibachi upside the head.

"I said non verbal cue.  Not 'please grope me.'"

"Sorry mistress...."

"Next we have this plastic device labled "Intel".  A curiosity of the outside world.  Going for $10...."

Yuki was looking to get a glimpse of the next item when Mai jumped and let out a muffled squeek.  Yuki sighed and raised her auction number, while Mai smacked Eskarina over the head.  As the scientist devil took her hands out from Mai's skirt Yuki stated, "Groping Mai is also not a good cue.  It's not exactly subtle either."

Joan snickered.

Yuki yawned.  It had been a long day, but she'd aquired a great deal of magical writings and a few useful items.  She'd even managed to get a gift for the rest of the mansion.  The bidding was starting to die down though, which meant they'd probably be pulling out a few big items they were keeping around.

"Next we have the wizard's very own alchemy kit, fully labeled and cleaned."

Yuki's ears perked up.  That could be fairly useful, especially given the books she'd aquired.  She got ready to enter the biding when she suddenly felt lips on her own.

Cassia's kiss lasted a full twenty seconds before Yuki rapped her on the head and got her voice back.  "What was that?  With the others they could pretend they were interpreting my orders correctly, but you should have known better!"

Cassia wiped away some crocodile tears, "But I had to finish the joke!  It's a rule."

Yuki sighed and shook her head.  "Oh well, whatever.  Good work everyone.  Now let's go home and sort out what's useful in all the stuff we grabbed."

Hibachi nodded.  "I imagine a lot off people will be doing that.  Market's probably going to be a little wierd for a bit."

You spent $930 at the auction.  You gain 250 bonus research worth of scrolls books and items.  You gain 13 gems.  Morale is at max.  Stress increased by 6.  Market prices have fluctuated.

Create Wood - 5 mana - Creates 1 wood
Create Iron - 10 mana - Creates 1 iron
Create Gems - 20 mana - Creates 1 gem
Charm Devil - 10 mana - Removes negative mental effects from a devil.  Costs morale.
Cure Devil - 30 mana - Heals a Devil of any physical condition. Removing Death costs 5 gems more.
Dig - 30 mana - Decreases building costs by 10 wood and iron.  Usable once per structure.
Enhance Devil - 50 mana - Doubles Devils effectiveness at the cost of a week of exhaustion.
Devil Trigger - 200 mana - Doubles Devils effectiveness
Empower Gem - 1 gem 100 mana - Gives you 50 mana to use later.
Money Tree - 1 gem, 5 mana - Ads 5 income
Planar Portal - 10 gems 50 mana or 15 gems 100 mana - Creates a portal to a location inside/outside of Makai.

Special Actions - Maximum 7 - Limit one per devil/magician
Stress Relief - Helepolis.  Removes d10+5 stress.
Grind levels - Ruby.  Helps (slowly but safely) level Ruby and gets random drops.
Dance Party - Requires Dancer, Bartender.  Devils do not become bored at the end of the week.  Morale may be gained, and stress may be gained or lost depending on RNG.  This party costs d4 * 4d10 in cash.  Butler can decrease the multiplier.
Fight Crime - Mai.  This weeks event is canceled and reduces notoriety.  Mai and Yuki may be injured.

Yeah, we need to go out and take advantage of that market.

And if any is left over, we should probly put it into the Gems into Iron or Gems into Wood spells.

You could do that, but there would probably be less gain.  Ruby acquires resources and money while grinding, which she won't find on the practice field.  However if you're very lucky Joan might benefit significantly from the training, since Ruby is by far the strongest of the devils.

There was an event that boosted her output once.  I think that was before I realize the potential for confusion and started using the +X figure for temp bonuses.

Transmute Gem to Iron- 10 mana 1 gem - Creates 20 iron
Charm Devil - 10 mana - Removes negative mental effects from a devil.  Costs morale.
Cure Devil - 30 mana - Heals a Devil of any physical condition. Removing Death costs 5 gems more.
Dig - 30 mana - Decreases building costs by 10 wood and iron.  Usable once per structure.
Create Foundation - 100 mana - Increase building discount by 5%
Enhance Devil - 50 mana - Doubles Devils effectiveness at the cost of a week of exhaustion.
Devil Trigger - 200 mana - Doubles Devils effectiveness
Empower Gem - 1 gem 100 mana - Gives you 50 mana to use later.
Money Tree - 1 gem, 5 mana - Ads 5 income
Planar Portal - 10 gems 50 mana or 15 gems 100 mana - Creates a portal to a location inside/outside of Makai.

Special Actions - Maximum 7 - Limit one per devil/magician
Stress Relief - Helepolis.  Removes d10+5 stress.
Grind levels - Ruby.  Helps (slowly but safely) level Ruby and gets random drops.
Dance Party - Requires Dancer, Bartender.  Devils do not become bored at the end of the week.   Morale may be gained, and stress may be gained or lost depending on RNG.  This party costs d4 * 4d10 in cash.  Butler can decrease the multiplier.
Fight Crime - Mai.  This weeks event is canceled and reduces notoriety.  Mai and Yuki may be injured.

Is create foundation a one time casting or do we need to cast it repeatedly.

If it is a one time casting, cast it and convert 5 gems into iron.

if not, convert 9 gems into iron and 12 gems into wood.

Hibachi buy books on iron-making, gem crafting, maps of places likely to have treasure, being a merchant, and architecture if we can swing it.

If we can't send her out with five targets, go for gem crafting.
