The Official Holiday Thread: The Requestioning
(1/100) > >>
Hello Purvis:
So. I've been doing holiday pictures in create.swf for a year now. I really like doing this. But, alas, I have exhausted my original source =[

This is where you come in! You can request holidays for me to make a daily picture for!

THE GUIDELINES

Name of Holiday: "Today is <Date>, <name of Holiday>" Don't worry about the date. I'll fill it in.
Descriptive Blurb: This must be in first person. Write your blurb as though you were personally describing it to another. I prefer it be between 1-5 lines long. Feel free to add quips, puns, profundity, and plays on words. Make it sound like something a person would say! Make it fun to read! Wild ARMs references are a plus.

Some examples!

July 31: Today is July 31, Desire Day. A desire strong enough to summon
Luceid... I thought my desire for holidays were strong enough to be
approved... But Luceid told me, 'Yours is just an obsession, so no go.'
Don't you think he's pretty stingy for being a Guardian of Desire?

July 8: Today is July 8, Adventurer Day. Adventurers are rare people fated
to die unless they continue adventuring, just as sharks must continue
swimming to survive. To protect this rare species from extinction, radio
programs release bits of adventure rumors to spark the adventurer spirit.
Just the other day, they broadcasted news about another floor discovered
in the Ruins of Memory! But this could be just another groundless rumor.

June 5: Today is June 5, Mist Day. Mist is scary, because there might be
a mist spirit hiding somewhere. The dunes are scary, because there might
be a sand spirit hiding somewhere. The sky is scary, because there might be
an air spirit hiding somewhere. Come to think of it, there isn't much point
to a day just for mist when you're scared of so many things.

April 30: Today is April 30, Jeans Day. Jeans are often called denims
lately, but who cares? Rose will be rose and jeans will be jeans, I say.

April 2: Today is April 2, Pillar Day. Pillars are the most important part
of buildings: psychologically, architecturally, and geomantically. That's why
we must thank our pillars and give them a nice pat. The pillar in Baskar must
be patted by many people today.

FAQ

-Can I use real holidays?

You sure can! Just adhere to the guidelines, and give me a real date for them. And, um, don't ask for it too far ahead of time.

Can I make a touhou-related holiday?

You sure can! Just adhere to the guidelines.

Can I make forum-based holidays?

You sure can! Just adhere to the guidelines. And make 'em good. I'll be fairly picky with these.

Can I have some more examples to work from?

Okay.

And that's all there is to it. Get crackin'!

Edible:
Today is _____ ___, Holiday Day.  Today is named in honor of
the declaration that holidays can be created not just by one's ancestors,
but by anyone who wants to celebrate something.  It's almost like
everyone has a little bit of magic.  So today, I'm creating Holiday Day.

A good example.
Tengukami:
Today is August 18, Tengu Day. This day was created in response to the stupidity and horror of the 6th and the 9th (18 is divisible by both 6 and 9), and is meant to be as joyous and celebratory as possible. You can celebrate it any way you like, so long as you do so while seeing the best in everyone. No one's perfect, after all, but everyone has some good in them. Taking candid photos is also encouraged. At the end of the day, I like to look at the candid shots I took, and laugh heartily. Caw caw!

And yeah, it's okay to request specific days, just give me a poke when they come up, so I don't forget.
