It's possible to swim it?! (I'm guessing you new Marisuwako hat.) I've always been dragged down immediately (even when furiously tapping the 'swim, damnit!' button).

Yeah, you have to to get to the SA stages.

So the place immediately following Hakugyokoro (spelling is likely off, my apologies) isn't the Burning Hells?

...Well shit, now I want to head back and do it.

The PCB-3 hidden exit was a complete pain in the ass
Spoiler:
SNOWBALL CHALLENGE
. Also unlocked UFO world along the way and the map layout makes me wonder if it's missable.

All my hate. :colonveeplusalpha: (Looking at you, ferry ride across the Sanzu River level...)
It gets worse with Cactus-totting fairies. You can kill the fairy...but not the prickly plant that can kill you.

Ah, so UFO world isn't missable. Turns out that the secret exit in
Spoiler:
SDM-5
just lets you skip half the game.

Great level or greatest level?

Edit: Finished the game. Judging by the map status screen I've got all red stars and exits but I'm not sure if it unlocks anything.
Spoiler:
I can get unlimited mushrooms, yukkuri mushrooms and mega mushrooms from Marisa's house now but I can't tell whether that would've happened anyway.

Fun game overall. Level design/features kept reasonably fresh throughout. Bosses needed to be 50 notches up on the difficulty scale but they still worked. Powerups were funky. Only thing that bothered me slightly were the time limits, which often made it hard to get all 10 red stars in one run of a stage.

Spoiler:
Near the end of the level, kill/run through the juggle fairies and walk through the wall past the red star to find a secret underwater area. At the end of this area, swim through the thin strip of wall near the bottom. You'll need Suwarisa to beat the current.

Awesome, thanks.

Ehh, unless I'm missing something here, the Tenshi suit seems kind of...bad.  UFOrisa made me Ha ha, old chap! though.

EDIT: Oh man, the exploits are delicious.  I love this thing now.

so I don't seem to have stage 7 in SDM world, but I still have a World Complete in the bottom left corner. Is there just no stage 7?

The

Alice's house
being stage 6.

You're missing something. Tenshi suit was the best of the holdable items IMO. You've got a temporary platform, a pseudo double-jump, block breaker and a slightly awkward offensive weapon.

Does the sky world has a level 8 somewhere that I haven't found? I've gotten all the red stars on levels 1-7 and the boss level, but the World Complete text hasn't appeared.

Not entirely sure which one you mean by 'sky world', but there's only one world where your post makes sense and it's the one with
Spoiler:
the Youmu/ghost boss.
If you're talking about that one, there's a stage 9. The boss stage is stage 8.

Bring fireballs as well. Smite juggle fairies along the way. Switch to froggy near the end. Worked for me.

I gave up in this game, can't beat the tree stage that comes after the pallenquin ship no matter how much I try. I could beat this stage without a problem if it  wasn't for the %$@!&**()_*)** blue jumping platform at the beginning. It's RIDICOUSLY hard to get a correctly timed jump on it, without getting killed by the fast paced scrolling screen. But this isn't the main problem. YOU CAN'T SAVE THE GAME AFTER BEATING THE PALLENQUIN SHIP! Who was the genius that came up with this idea? I'm too tired to redo the battle against nue several times. So, If someone can give me a tip on how to beat this stupid stage I'd be very glad.

Sweetness and love~ ♥

That was indeed the one I was talking about; not sure why I thought the snow was clouds, given the general level theme of that world...

I swam it for the fun of it and brought two Suwarisa hats.  Needed both because jumping on juggle fairies without getting hit is HARD. :V

EDIT: I made a video of that glitch dusty found.

See, that was my plan. But I think I either somehow lost my first hat or brought tea instead.

I'll take the easy way out. To the boat!

So I was wondering, did anyone have a good strategy for the last star on UFO-2? I have a feeling I did it the incredibly hard way, but I couldn't see any other way of doing it (as that last ufo is impossible to reach from what I could tell)

EDIT: So there's a bug that stops you from fully clearing the game. in stage UFO-5, there are two red stars that register as the 8th, and none as the 7th. At least, this is on a run after beating the stage. I'm not sure if you can do it if you get them all on the first try.

EDIT: So the version 1.01 fixes this bug! hell yeah.

Suwako + Tenshi is an amazing combination.  You can get some stupid amounts of height and distance, especially since a rock placed at the top of Tenshi's jump can still be reached by jumping as Suwarisa, who can then do her full-distance dash jump.  Completely trivialized Hakugyokurou, the only times I ever used the platforms aside from the end was to place a new rock.

Spoiler:
It is possible to reach that last UFO, but I could only do it by skipping one of the earlier ones and hugging the right side of the screen the entire time to compensate. I blasted my way through the bottom blocks and then immediately went down to grab it before it went offscreen. Didn't test it, but you can probably just let your UFO power run out on top of the blocks and then Tenshi/Reisen your way over to the last star.

Edit: Holy shit, I guess I haven't gotten all the exits. I just went back to
Spoiler:
1-4 and Tenshi'ed my way through some blocks to find a secret exit.
It only opened up a shortcut on the map as opposed to a new level, but it's still something. I'm fairly certain I've done all the actual levels/red stars or I wouldn't have the "World <Red Star> Complete" text everywhere.

Edit II: Holy double shit.
Spoiler:
You can access that same exit by carrying the furball right at the start of the level all the way to the blocks
. That means it's possible to get all the way through the game to the Palanquin Ship without fighting a single boss along the way.

Haha yeah, I actually did that to skip Alice til after the game.

For that UFO, I did indeed use Marisa!Reisen, as I was unable to figure out how to get to that ship fast enough.

Alright, I've pretty much done everything that I can think of that is possible. Gone though every possible stage, collected all the red stars. Collected the shooms. Defeated the final boss and yet for some reason I feel a bit.... well confused. Like  for some reason there should be something "extra" to all this.

Sure you get your
Spoiler:
Mushrooms at Marisa's house
but I can't help but feel that should be something else avalabile to you for all this hard work.

And there's still one place on my mind....
Spoiler:
The Hakurei Shrine
I don't know if Tasofro just threw it in for decoration to add to the Gensokyo atmosphere, but for some reason I feel that this area must be accessable....somehow...

Then again this could be just me with alot of wishful thinking. Cause I love how this game turned out. And I was hoping that maybe like Super Mario World we could unlock a "super secret area" that would be full of diffculty and perhaps lead to an "alternet world" But yeah I'm probably just really wishing for something that isn't in the game.

Now if somebody can prove me wrong, that's great!

Either way I'm going to go ahead and give my thumbs up for Tasofro for they managed to make the New Marisa Land enjoy able and playable.
That's one small step for man, one giant leap for Otaku Kind.

Beat the game a few hours ago.  As far as powerups go, I think I can safely say my favorite two are the Suwako hat and Yukkuri Shroom.

Also, final boss made me wtf.  I'm sure I'll have dreams about that one tonight.
