Panicbombing is actually a good habit unless you're trying to score high or something. If you are panicing, chances are you're not ready to handle what's coming to you and Touhou gives you loads of bombs anyway so it's just good to use them and not risk wasting them. Then you can freely try all the crazy dodges you like when the bomb stock is empty. When you get more familiar with the game, you'll panic less and therefore also panicbomb less.

And in my case, die more.  :(

Yes, save the bomb-free attempts for Practice Start.

Update on my panicbombing: I've gotta a lot better at it since the last post. Some bullets are very tricky with their hitbox size (lookin' at you, bubble-like things).

I panic bomb like mad, since I forced myself onto Hard when I had never played Touhou before, and have never gone down, save for SA.

But looking back, half the attacks I panic bomb, I can cap. I usually can't cap half of Chen's Stage 2 cards, due to p-bombing, but if I don't bomb, I can cap them. This ends up getting me to Stage 3 before having to Continue. But wether I panic bomb or not, well, it's basicly random.

Metal Fatigue.

Hm? (and to add to the topic: I was doing a shits-and-giggles Hard run of EoSD last night.. I bombed right as a spellcard's bullets were becoming points.  :V )

Metal Fatigue is the spellcard above, exclusive to MarisaB's Patchy fight on Normal.  The bullets used in the card are commonly referred to as "Metal Fatigue bullets" and are notorious for having iffy hitboxes in EoSD.
Whether you're on Easy or you're a Lunatic, be damn proud of your accomplishments.  Don't let anyone convince you otherwise, for it's when you lose faith in your own achievements that those victories become defeats.

I actually meant those things t'ward the bottom. They look a bit like rings, but I call 'em bubbles for whatever reason. The hitbox starts toward the clear center, right?

But Metal Fatigue bullets are bad about it as well. (In fact, the only thing that doesn't seem to have wonky hitboxes are the smaller bullets...)

Yes, those are indeed called bubbles. I believe their hitboxes actually start at the colored part just inside the white border. This is specific to EoSD though, as in all subsequent games only the black center (approximately) can kill you.

I love the bubbles.
