So, anyone bombed in panic because the bullets were moving so fast and stuff like this even when you did not want to bomb?
It happens to me quite often in SA and UFO.

So many times that I can't even give a valid list of the exact number in which I panicbombed. Although, i can say alot of it was during the time when I sucked major balls at Touhou.

Um ... yes? All the time. Like, even in Stage 1 sometimes. It's like they say: "Better to bomb than to PICH-UN".

It's actually the opposite for me- I try to avoid panicbombing so much that I end up derping with 6+ bombs left, especially on UFO.

I used to, but after learning the ins and outs of the series it's become less common to be overcome by panic. It's important to know when to give up and when you have a chance.

I try not to (because I like bonuses), but I don't think I've had a run without panic bombing in one of the later stages.

So, yeah. Too many times t'count really.

I can guarantee you there isn't a person that's played Touhou that hasn't had a case of panic bombing.

Still, it's better to use your bombs than to die with bombs in stock.

I used to panic bomb a lot, especially when there were a ton of bullets on the screen, but I don't do it as much anymore since almost always those bullets have tiny hitboxes.
Now to work on remembering I have bombs when I think I don't.

After a while you get a general idea of what you can and can't dodge. Before then, panicbombing isn't really uncommon.

But hey, it's better to panicbomb than die with bombs in stock.

I have a really bad habit of pretty much doing deathbombs only. Even in EoSD, more than half of my bombs are often deathbombs, despite the super-stingy deathbomb timer in that game.

Anyway, I found that lunatic MoF was fairly difficult for me unlike for everyone else (where it's the easiest or second easiest). It KIND OF helped teach me to bomb earlier. So now I don't really think I panic bomb so much like you describe, but sometimes now I bomb, and then I realize after the bomb goes off "hey wait, I didn't even need to bomb, I was totally safe".

This normally happens when I fail to notice bullets or lasers until they are already really close to me (happens alot on spells like extending aaaaaarm, or pretty much any spell where bullets/lasers bounce off walls), If they are too close, I don't think I can safely read their trajectory in time, so I just bomb, and then I notice a second later that they weren't a threat at all.

At least you guys aren't like me when you panic bomb AFTER THE CARD HAS ENDED.

Does panicbombing during the last millisecond of the card count? (After the boss is technically dead but before everything blows up into points.)

In tiers.

7. Not bombing and instead dying with bombs in stock of which using would be more advantageous than dying. You are a fucktard.

6.5. Dying because of below. Stop that.

6. Consciously trying to time a bomb so it ends up as a deathbomb. You are either a fucktard or are playing EoSD.

5. Bombing because you know what's coming and don't want to deal with it (i.e. durrr cheese)

4. Bombing because of panic.

3. Bombing because you know what's coming and shouldn't deal with it either because of skill, imminent death or desperation.

2. Bombing because this wave looks particularly hard and tackling it might kill you.

1. Bombing because this dodge looks particularly hard and you should probably not tackle it / There's a wall you can't dodge / Bad judgment in previous dodge.

Bombing because you accidentally hit that button instead of focus.

fat fingers not everybody uses a keyboard

also remaps

speaking of remaps, i sometimes forget to re-enable it after alt-tabbing to irc and swapping back resulting me in bombing instead of shootan  :ohdear:

I often die because I'm trying to ~confidence dodge~ after failing a part beforehand. Usually I'll be thinking to myself "ok, now I gotta make up for that failure, let's do this!"

Doesn't work out, and I do it all the time. Almost every run.

Using this awesome Hori stick that I bought and messed up mapping stuff in Xpadder.  So during that PCB run I had no focus button.  Only two bomb buttons.

Sorta tangentially related, but how about that feeling when you try to bomb because of <tier 5 and up>, and you realize only then that you're out of bombs?

I've done some of my craziest and weirdest dodges during those moments. :x

Oh wow how dumb I felt when I first did that!! I'm glad someone has done it too :)
One time, it was a wall coming at me. Right when I hit x, the card ended, with the wall about a cm away from me. The next time was worse; I was playing as Sakuya B, fighting Youmu's stage 6 midboss card, saw a huuuuge wave of purple bullets flying in my face after I managed to dodge the first few waves, and bombed before they were even close to me. And then defeated Youmu right while my bomb was going off.

Oh, wow I'm a derp, I read the tiers backwards  :derp:

At least you guys aren't like me when you panic bomb AFTER THE CARD HAS ENDED.

I tried to train myself against that reflex, but it backfired; I have a tendency to die because of at the end of an attack tell myself not to bomb and then get killed by the last bullet before the get cleared off the screen (Usually thanks to Suwako and her uber-fast green amulet non-spell  :fail: )

Blue's Danmaku DictionaryTM
Deathbomb - n. - A panicbomb that happens to be both necessary and timely.

That said, I have accidentally bombed at times when I'd explicitly decided for one reason or another that I'd rather die than bomb (e.g. playing in practice mode specifically to cap a given card).

It's not really panic bombing when you are trying to score in MoF.   :V

(9) Bomb once to clear screen, charge to bomb again at shotgun range and clip a bullet while charging (ha ha invincibility frames). Replace Bombing with dying if necessary

People like me bomb when they first see one of the following on lunatic
MoF:
Minoriko Aki second nonspell
Hina's first and second nonspell
AYA's second motherfuckinghaxspeed nonspell

SA: Satori's second (maybe first too)
Satori's terrifying Hypnotism
Stage 4 clippy laserspam
Maybe Danmaku Paranoia

PCB:

I always bomb what troubles me the most when practicing and what i feel i have consistency on i try to capture. Unless i get uncomfortable. I'd rather use my bombs quickly and dodge till' i die than die with bombs in stock.

At least you guys aren't like me when you panic bomb AFTER THE CARD HAS ENDED.

Or even worst: when your keyboard both has input lag and the annoying tendency to continue depressing keys after you've let go of them. Too many times I've i) died ii) bomb goes off right after I die iii) another bomb goes off right after that one FFFFFFFFFFFFF
