That you can't get to because the plot blocks you from going back. You can't leave to get items or anything, Ha ha, old chap!.
Oh crap. I was thinking "Oh I can just run back to the city of s ages and rest".  And realised, No.  No I can't.

You're going to want to start out with OL, then spam Destruction Field. Hopefully you catch all three. Also, cook some kebabs or whatever if you can for +3% strength or whatever the hell it is.

don't forget about the billybally plants either; that's the secret mission

OL: Okay, but I've seen him still send me flying during Overlimit (Which is -bull-)
Destruction Field: I don't appear to have any move by this name
Kebabs: Nope! 8D

Also the billybally plants don't help much. Mostly because I have to be right next to him and most of the time that requires me to get hit too - either before, or after, since the stun lasts shorter on him than it does me (Hell the first time I stun him it's literally a bad thing because by the time the game's done being all "GREAT JOB YO" he's unstunned and also it's interrupted all my casting and stuff).

Sigh.  I'm pondering restarting, and doing it with a guide on hand so I can make sure not to be missing craploads of stuff, but I'm not sure how much is Second Playthrough Only (Tales games usually have a few things like this and it drives me nuts) so yeah

There actually isn't much for second playthrough only, but Vesperia is really bad for miss-able stuff.

Destruction Field you get at level 14.

If you're going to restart, use Kouli's guide. Pretty much perfect.

Is Dawn of the New World worth playing? I enjoyed ToS (though that was 4-5 years ago), but gave up on Vesperia shortly after Rita joined. As a PAL gamer those're the only two I've played.

So...uh...does this mean Ange is mine?

(Sorry, couldn't resist the challenge!)

It's not nearly as good as Symphonia, but I guess it's not really bad, at least. Serviceable, but could have been better (feels rather short to me). Unlike some people, I actually liked the story. Raising monsters is kind of weird for a Tales game, though.

Okay, I really enjoyed Dawn of the New World personally.  There's a lot of gripes I can understand about the games (Monsters are overpowered, the original Symphonia cast is really not given the level of detail or care as they were originally, and new stars Emil and/or Marta may very much drive you nuts as they, like the start of the original, are written cliche and over-the-top as heck then develop depth, Katz quests are just pointless, getting everything will make you claw your eyes out, etc etc), but in all honesty I still really enjoyed it.

Just be ready for the fact that only about a quarter of the voice acting cast is the same (Although honestly the new voice actors work just as well as the old ones in a few cases - Genis sounds like he just hit puberty amusingly enough, and I think I like the new Zelos better than the old one) and that something to do with the old Symphonia cast and story is going to let you down, whether it's that their stats are fixed based on game progression or what.

It's a case of "It would have been just fine if it wasn't a sequal" in a few ways, so if you try to pay less focus on it being "Symphonia 2" and more of it being "Dawn of the New World" you'll probably enjoy it more.

Eh, good enough for me.

Thanks for suggesting the challenge. I actually had to do this twice; first time around, the video quality ended up being really poor, so I redid it with a different way of recording.

Some stuff on Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X:

1. The two original characters, Dio and Mel, have a similar function to the original characters in other Narikiri Dungeon games. They get special costume as well for this. Dio gets an Asvel (Tales of Graces) costume and Mel gets a Haruka (IM@S) costume.

2. The battle system is a tweaked form of the ToD2 battle system.

3. Overdrive gets changed to "Over Brave," which is drawn from a single gauge - "Emotional Brave Gauge," when triggered, activates Over Brave. Attack and speed get increased (obviously) and combo proration is actually decreased.

4. Chain Partner system. When you get a certain character into your party, and follow the requirements to trigger it during battle, the character transforms into the character you're using and does exactly the same thing you do

5. You can capture monsters and then control them in battle.

What if Namco was holding off on a Vesperia PS3 port because they knew Graces PS3 was coming and decided to localize that instead?

On a semi-related note...

I wish a good Tales character will be useable in the apparent Namco vs Capcom fighting game.

I do love my Ravenous and Galf Beast (I have a Wolf Hedden, too) who were cross-trained through every branch they can evolve through :D  I also had a Fenia whose attack power was maxed around level 40 or so.

Katz quests aren't completely pointless, you have to clear some of them out starting at chapter 5 (Treasure Hunter's Trophy series) for some nice items (two of which will reduce the cost of Marta's and Emil's artes to 1) and Emil's best weapon, plus a unique monster.

The only characters who voice acting was outright off for me was Zelos in combat (make him cast Eruption...dude sounds bored as fuck) but he is just fine in skits/dialogue, and Lloyd.

Emil is the king of whiny bitches, and his voice and demeanor will get on your nerves.

Honestly, at this point I'm no longer going to buy any Tales games at launch unless it's for a portable and just wait.  Either we're going to get an "improved" (read: no missing content) re-release or I'll find it at bargain prices later.  I can deal with it not being localized if I have to import a copy.
Cheating? I cannot even wrap my head around the point of it. Wouldn't you know you had cheated? How on Earth could you maintain crisp certainty of your superiority to all others? And if you're unable to do that, what's the point of anything?

*blood rush as I type in excitement*
and tons of in-jokes can be found throughout the fandom, including many official works like Tales of Gaiden...
You're referring to Tales of Fandom, right?
Also that video... I usually don't get fond of fan-made video of something unless it's Touhou, but that MAD amused me xD Whoever made that video...... Wow...
... Wah, the Tales of Night video had (fan remix?) Flowering Night as BGM! *slow*

Our top-played game is ToD2 (PS2), with 700-ish hours in our 6th playthrough, next to Disgaea exceeding the 999hr limit. Fast-paced, Smart AI (at least smarter than its predecessors, Symphonia, and even Abyss, IMO), seemingly plausible Grading System (unlike its successors, which now had obvious conditions, and repeatable at that), and Action Enchant. ToD2 has become the foundation of new and experimental LIMBS features that the succeeding Tales games inherited.

We kept playing its PSP port 'til we triggered all the PSP-exclusive scenes (Kyle sparring with Rutee was nifty! xD), fights (Barbie Barbatos and friends!), and galleries. The lack of multiplayer is definitely not fun. Not that I enjoy playing alone, but...:
Quote
Kyle: Ikuzo!

Tales of Destiny Remake / Director's Cut returns 2D sprites' glory in the PS2, and boy the graphics is astounding!
In battle, they've utilized Aerial combo very well. "KOUGAHAZAN!!", repeat 6+ times. ToDR had the most impressive AI we've seen, utilizing most skills at the right time and strategic positioning.

I find Tales of Rebirth to be difficult x_x, but my YoungerSis(Veigue) and YoungestSis(Mao) got the hang of it. Uhh, nothing much to note as I didn't play it directly, but if anything, there's always

Then, Tales of VS... well, my fault for not being impressed of it - I expected too much.
They made Stan a depressed person too much, like what Square did with Cloud >.<

For my main playing character for each Tales: Kyle, Lloyd (hence my username o.o), Luke, Rid/Farah, Stan, Eugene.
In all the Tales series, I've had a crush on Farah, Mint, and Arietta, then a little on Colette... =/////=

I still have no idea why people can't just let it go. Maybe because they all started with Vesperia, are totally pro-360 and just started out with fucktons of disappointment, along with the sudden realization that Namco doesn't care much about NA and Namco USA doesn't care about Tales, and possibly not realizing that whining about it will not actually make their spoiled greedybitch wishes come true. I dunno.

Tales fandom sucks nowadays.

They were fine until sometime after Abyss.
From what I saw, the moment Symphonia made it big in english, it started a giant backlash of many people who had played the older games deriding the Symphonia fans for bandwagon jumping and claiming it was the worst in the series, more out of spite than it actually being bad in many cases (I can't speak for everyone, but recently I've noticed that the older games really did not age well to many people, while Symphonia is still very playable without having needed ports and remakes and complete overhauls coughcoughdestinycoughcough)

Then after Abyss showed up and resolidified Tales as a name worth noting in the west, people started to realise just how many of the games - especially with the beginning of the porting and escort title flood began - weren't getting translated, and that became the biggest bone of contention, it seems.
