>Look right.
>You push Rumia off of you, and crane your neck up to see the new voice... only to realize that she's standing practically right next to you. Gah! When'd she get there? Then you notice the outfit and it clicks. Still, it's damn freaky when Sakuya does that. Maybe you just get used to it if you live with her long enough?
> "Uh, hello"
>"Stand up," she says. "And tell me what you're doing here. When I was told you wanted to speak with the mistress, I didn't expect to have to break up a fight out here. Explain."
>"Meiling seems to be a little eager to have reason to defend the gate, basically."
>"Oh? Whatever her other failings, she's scrupulous about following procedure. And two uninvited youkai in the middle of the night could reasonably be construed as a threat. Justify your presence."
>"Rumia, you don't need to race her over the gate. We don't need a fight."
>"But the green lady told me to," she pouts.
>Sakuya turns to Meiling who just grins at her sheepishly. "Well, I was jus-" She shuts up abruptly and takes a step backward. You can't see Sakuya's face from here, but that must have been some glare... When she turns back to you, she's the picture of cool courtesy, however.
>"Very well," she says. "You may follow me. I will ask the mistress if she will see you."
>She turns back to Meiling again. "We will speak of this later." You marvel at how she can manage to sound so chilling without changing her expression at all.
