> Hmm, looks like the lake drained or something, wonder what could have done that?

>Yeah, it does look like the water level in the lake is quite a bit lower than what it should be. Now, the lake is still pretty sizable, but it would require a pretty massive amount of water to be moved from the lake to change the shoreline by that much. You aren't really sure what could have done that, or why.

>Can we see the Mansion from here?

>You can't see the Mansion from here, but you wouldn't expect to. It's further around to the north shore, and there are trees in the way.

>"Do you know what happened to the lake?"

>"Well, there was a big 'shkraaaa' and then the air went 'foooom' and the water went 'sloooooosh'" She punctuates her sound effects with various incomprehensible hand gestures. "Rumia wasn't there, but Cirno told her. She spent a whole week running around all grumbly. Said she was gonna 'find whoever broke her lake and mess them up.' " She puts a finger to her chin thoughtfully. "Rumia doesn't know if she ever found anyone."

>Well, that's something. There was a cataclysm of some kind.

>It does seem possible. Something sudden and loud seems to have happened, anyway. Most of what you've seen of Gensokyo so far has been pretty physically intact, though. Aside from the giant crevice at the shrine.

> Hmm, from the sound of it, something drained the water, maybe a fissure appeared under the lake?

>That does seem like a possibility. A fissure like that down there could certainly drain a lot of water.

>Toward the north shore!

>You continue towards the north, along the grassy edge of the 'old' lakeshore. You reach the northern bank, and you think you can see the Scarlet Devil Mansion just barely come into view in the distance.
>You hear some kind of noise from the lake. It is someone's voice? It seems to be getting louder.

> Investigate noise, but don't give away your position

>Well, it's kind of hard not standing out when there's either flat land or water for a couple hundred feet around you. There's nothing obvious to hide behind.
>You turn towards the source of the noise, though. You think you can see a form over the lake, quickly heading towards your position. ...is it yelling?
>"....oooooooppp!"

>You try to sidestep away from the dive-bombing silhouette, but discover this is unnecessary when it stops of its own accord, a few feet from you. Unfortunately, she didn't let go of that syllable until she stopped moving, either. Wow, she can be loud when she wants to.

>Cirno points a finger accusingly at you. "Hey buddy, this is my lake. If you want to be here, you've got to pay the toll."

>Well, you still have spellcards on you. They don't seem any different than they used to be. You haven't to to use them yet, of course.

> Can spell cards only be used once?

>Spell cards contain a finite amount of energy. This does not necessarily equate to a single usage. If used briefly, energy may remain for additional usages. However, prolonged usage will expend the card. Damage sustained while using the card also expends this energy.

> "Look, I'm trying to find some answers for somethings and one of them maybe connected to how your lake got drained"

>"You're just bluffing so I won't kick your ass. I know how that works. I let you go and you never come back here. Besides, what's this lake to you?"

(Ask this first, if she still doesn't agree use Purvisens suggestion)

> "Did you try asking questions to people?"

>"Of course I did. I'm not stupid, you know. I found everyone I could find and asked, "Why'd you break my lake!?". And if they looked confused, I found someone else. Only the real villain would know what I was talking about, y'see?"

> "Sigh, Look I'm on my way to question someone who would probably know something about what happened, you can come with me if you like if you don't trust me"

>"Hey, I'm not falling for that one. You just want me away from here so other people can sneak by without paying, too!"

>"So, are you challenging me?"
>If she says yes.
>"Very well, then by rights I get to pick the nature of the duel."

>She starts to laugh. "You really don't know who you're dealing with here, do ya? But this ought to be worth a laugh. Go ahead, do your worst. There's nothing I'm not better than you at!"
