Protag is still Kirby but with a small hitbox, Touhou characters as similar ball-shaped enemies akin to the sprite similarities of Patchcon, 50+ totally broken abilities just based on characters you eat, fiendishly difficult level design and enemies shooting danmaku balanced by said broken abilities, frequent boss fights that involve major characters (more abilities), more danmaku, worlds are obviously based on realms in Gensokyo, etc etc.

Wow... I'm kinda wanting that to exist more than Kirby's Epic Yarn. Someone fund this man's ideas!

Funny this should come up, I'm in the middle of coding a Touhou RPG battle system. It's not far enough along to be in Rika's Garage, but it's pretty well planned out. From what I've heard, it's somewhat similar to Grandia 2, but I've never played that, so yeah.

As for the story side of things, it kicks off when Reimu gets a letter: "Hey Reimu, come to the SDM for tea. I've baked a cake for you! -Peach Remi". The SDM is more or less a tutorial dungeon, and then you get a couple subplot hooks, and the first part of the game is mostly open-ended; it's possible to stumble on the main plot early, but you'll probably get your ass kicked.

I figure on having about 20 PC's, but you can't recruit more than 10-12 in any given playthrough, and things vary depending on who you have in your active party: for example, most of the time when you meet Aya, she just throws out a few quips and runs off, but if Utsuho is in your party (crow-raven rivalry ;)), she attacks you, and drops useful items.

Touhou Sburb
A 3D mostly free roaming game with fighter-style controlls, but with the option ot go into "Flying mode" where you can fly for as long as you want. You play thorough each of the game's plots but with an improved story and sexy new cutscenes and lots of cool shit. You can re-fight anyone in after-story freeplay mode and find the EX battles if you look for them.

You can also make you're own toohoo and play through a tottaly unrelated story, like in Phatasy star but better

TH Suikoden.  Except the RPS duels would be danmaku'd the hell up.  And somehow Yuyuko's the main despite Reimu or Suika being the Tenkai.

Yukkukirby would be awesome, though. :)

Personally, I've been thinking something along the lines of a SNES RPG. A magical SNES with way more memory and an improved satellaview.
Plot: It starts small(A minor incident), and along the way it gets more and more out of hand until something threatens to wipe out gensokyo or the entire world.

Maribel and Renko would be the tutorial and start menu goons, explaining everything to you and commenting on the bonus material(CGs and extra scenes and music and stuff).

When you start, you choose a team you'd like to play as. Some, like, the ghost team or the oni team, are just a duo who can team up with other youkai. Others, like team nine or the hell team(Satori, Ustsuho, Koishi, and Orin) can't recruit more than one more member, but they'll sometimes split up and you can choose what character's path you'd like to follow. Naturally, since it's hard to cram all the characters in, some extra teams will be offered via DLC.

Oh, rite. There is a dating sim option, too. You can either romance a youkai girl who's not doing any fighting, or you can romance two people on your own team. Making two people on the same team fall in love will be harder, but will benefit the gameplay-Like, extra items if Yuyuko listens to Youmu's eye for finding things. However, similar effects can be acheived by upping the "freindship" bar.

Flandre? Secret character. You can recruit her upon beating the game once and investigating SDMs basement. Beat the game with her in your party? Congrats, you can now play as her and find out what really happened during several subplots and a little bit of the main plot. It will be harder, though, and you can choose a team to team up with during the game. This mode is called EX stage.

It's going to be like most Touhou games, first we fight two small fry, later we fight a medium boss, then three stronger ones.
Except for the fact that the dungeons will be around two or three between each boss, and they'll get harder progressively. The mini-bosses in the dungeons are established Touhou girls that aren't playable, like Kisume, Kanako, or the Aki sisters. Some bosses will go live somewhere in Gensokyo so you can romance them after you'd defeated them. Though, whom you can romance is limited by the team you are on, so no crack. Except for the occasional one.

If you didn't choose to play as team nine, they will be the goldfish poop gang.

I've got several scenes in my head, like team nine sitting in a tree watching the moon, preferrebly in the middle of the game, after they understand that this is serious, people might die and never come back. If you've managed a romance between the team members, the CG will be altered to have those girls holding hands. This would be an important part of character development for team nine, since they've never had to deal with death before, and Cirno would eventually think of the frogs she's frozen, and Suwako before concluding that the frogs were Suwako's friends. She starts crying and the others comfort her. "B-but you can't promise not to die! It could happen, anytime.." "No, but we'll turn into stars." "Yeah! Yes, we'll be stars, OK? And you can ask Eirin and maybe you can go see us someday." "Whatever happens, we'll always watch over each other, OK?"
In reference to that scene, the end credits will have a scene where Cirno is making little graves for all the dead frogs, and Suwako blesses her for it.

Another one would be the shrine team also realizing that this shit is gettin' serious, beacause the Shrine team from the beginning has three members. Teams consist of two or four memebers. The characters are Sanae, Reimu, and Rin Satsuki. They've teamed up with team nine shortly before the moon-scene, and Rin dies cruelly by the hands of the stage 5 boss. If you choose to have Reimu or Sanae romance her, she'll die in thier arms, followed by a desperate "Hey, Rin..W-wake up.. R-in-" And there will be a funeral, that you'll have to go to no matter what team you are playing as. Yuyuko will be there, but without the appetite for once. Suika will be slightly teary-eyed and nearly sober, and offer a crying team-member some sake. "H-here. It'll make you remember the, the happy times.." Team nine are too shocked to say anything, Yukari will comment on Wriggle's lack of expression as "I guess boys don't cry, do they.." and everyone will disregard team nine's seemed indifference as "They're really too young to understand, aren't they?" Keine will do her best to explain to them, being the teacher she is. You can also comfort the girl of your choice at the funeral.

The beginning of the Prismriver route would have them fighting Kana Anaberal(They're investigating a wierd sound that seems to have started living in thier mansion) and having her join them over a heartwarming cup of tea. "Oh, thank heavens.. I can really stay? Sorrt, it's just- I'm so used to being a nuicense. "

Remilia would be an optional partner for a few of the teams, but when she's with Sakuya and Meiling(The SDM-servants team), a monster that is nothing short of an eldritch abomination might appear, and Sakuya will react by trying to cover the mistresses eyes.

Also, keeping yukkuris would be an important part of gameplay. You can harvest yukkuris and eat them, or chuck them at foes, and you have a special yukkucage for keeping them. You can play with them, and different kinds of yukkuri are found in different parts of gensokyo.

A Legend Entertainment style adventure game (Death Gate, Companions of Xanth, Shannara) with Touhou characters.

Or the Highly Responsive to Prayers remake using Bolo as a basis, where Reimu is not restricted to the ground. (Man, it's hard to get info on that game)

Call of Duty: Gensokyo at War

Miko saves the motherland from a Lunarian invasion.

Futuristic FPS, with upgradeable stats and weapons. Explorable and fully destructable environments. Emphasis on story mode.

Simple storyline, however, it develops as you play, like in the Paper Mario / Mario & Luigi Series. Beautiful graphics.

By Suwako, if that was real, I'd buy it. I don't care if it was untranslated into English; I'd buy it and play the hell out of it.

So, my ideal Touhou fangame would be an RPG. It would have 2D graphics like the one in the hoax I quoted and have music that consisted of remixes of the original ZUN scores. The battle system would be a typical turn-based system, but I want interactivity during the attack phase like in the Mario RPGs: timed hits, timed evades, that sort of thing. The story would be about another Incident; first it would start off with familiar characters meeting, and sometimes fighting each other, but much like in the danmaku games, several new characters would be introduced, all of them a threat, and possibly all of them would be female, too.

If I can't have that, then I'd instead go with Tengukami's idea, if only because I think Fallout 3 is the best game of this current console generation.

The music on Beat Hazard effects the power of your shot and the number of targets, but I don't know if you can load your own music into it, or if enemies move to the beat of the song itself.

A Touhou fighting game, however it's a tad darker (just a pinch) and more in the style of Mortal Kombat.  Fatalities are called Exterminations.

Done in 3D.  Satori can mimick the moveset of any character in the game.

- has a gameplay similar to that of the Megaman X series, however there's some quite drastic changes (sometimes it would feel a bit Contra-ish)
- Classic mode: Megaman X style
- Touhou mode: Megamari X style
- Arcade mode: 2 loops game
  - you (and possibly the second player) pick three characters, there would be features such as blocking ( with a quite limited usage, it seems easy to get guardcrushed) and flight (you can't block while flying, there's no inertia like in Koumajou Densetsu and you take more damage if you're hit while flying)
  - instead of fighting 8 characters, you go to 8 areas and then choose between two target characters (final bosses and Extra stage bosses, mostly); there would be an IN-like time system which affects the stages' appearance ( for example, you fight Keine or EX-Keine, depending on what time of the "day" it is when you enter Mokou's stage)
  - second loop has some requirements in it, and will feature the target characters that you didn't choose in the first loop (acquired weapons are maintained, however you can't overwrite them with the new weapons from the 2nd loop); it will also contain a TLB
  - there would be lots of different methods for scoring, depending on the selected character (sitting on one spot killing the same enemies is discouraged, there would be much better places to score on sections which feature autoscrolling, and on bosses/midbosses, too. Boss fights are timed as well). Also, there would be a visible difficulty rank meter; the greater the difficulty, the greater the rewards (more enemies/bullets, for example). The rank would be made so that a novice player doesn't get to accidentally (and unknowingly) anger the rank; it can be consciously raised
  - extend system is Batrider-like, with 3 lives only; but I'd consider giving the same rank reduction when you die, no matter how many remaining lives you have (in Garegga and Batrider -- and Bakraid, probably --, the less lives you have in stock, the greater the rank reduction when you die)
  - you can call your partners or switch to them freely
  - it's possible to fight optional hidden bosses (final or extra bosses) during a playthrough, or play through optional stages
  - sometimes, the second-loop boss fights will be longer (for example, having extra content in them.. like Shinki harassing her own realm while searching for you)
  - at a point during the TLB fight, flight mode becomes permanent -- like a good old shmup fight :D
  - if you get to see the TLB (even if you credit-fed through the 2nd loop), then the Epilogue (which would be like Touhou Extra Stages) stages become enabled; these stages can't be played in a normal Arcade run (I currently think that the acquired weapons aren't allowed on these stages)
  - weakness to certain weapons may be in, but I can't ensure that they'll form a cycle, with the 2 target characters per area
  - finally, as you reveal some characters, they will be unlocked as playable characters (though I have to decide on how to handle the stage replacements or if I should allow the selected characters to fight themselves -- which is seeming to be a good option, imho)

Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.
