Looking at the videos on youtube I quickly realize that since Koei games/Capcom influences heavily it seems they might as well ripped off Samurai Warriors Six and basically combined many characters to make new characters.
A quick glance gave me:
Flying magic carpet guy : flying Zuo Chi of Koei DW games. (his moveset is very similiar)
Tsuruhime (the archer miko) : Basically Shun Shang Xiang in DW6, her moveset is the same, you will notice.
Magoichi Saika: quite new, if not entirely new and makes about the hottest most anticipated new character ever. plus genderbender lol. She has remnants of Nouhime, one can say she is a better thought out version of Nouhime. You gotta admit Nouhime was pretty lame, and where guns are concerned, she is short of hammerspace and a minigun under the kimono was about the only usable trick she had.
New Date Masamune: it seems they combined many of his old moves into new ones, with the exceptance of Crazy Storm and Phantom Dive and Magnum Step. This will be exciting.
Mitsunari Ishida: emo kid here is basically a combination of Kenshin Uesugi and Akechi Mitsuhide, while his role was certainly very nicely done and pretty gay at the same time, I'd say he is a cool character, his sword mastery reminds me of that Koutaro guy. I hope we get to play Koutaro again in this game.
Kanbei Kuroda: chain and flail? This guy is a straight up rip off of Dian Wei from DW 6 without doubt, but as far as I am concerned he seemed the best character I seen so far, and I like his everything. (male wise, female wise I like Magoichi a lot)
Keiji Maeda's: His counter spam has been removed it seems, he cannot use it to cancel his basara now and can't seem to stop halfway and continue from his last counter causing an endless stun. This is good, as otherwise he is broken.
Ieyasu Tokugawa: while I much rather preferred old Tokugawa with annoying voice, this new one is a whole new image of him and I enjoy it. His battle with Ishida is certainly the story's main set up, and looking at it I can't help but notice he is using Kenpo (althought largely exaggerated), and I approve.
Tadakatsu is still his usual self, a combination of two skills make him very lethal, and certainly, this is the best Basara in game.
Oichi is the usual too, it seems her deadly attack when red bar'ed is amplified now, and that makes about the best risk-type character in game hell yeah.
However, it is also true this is a shadow of the awesome that was Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where a plenty of characters were available for play, I must comment, if possible I'd like them to be able to have some sort of load a Sengoku Basara 2 file and get extra characters sort of thing. They need to bring back Hanbei, because hell yeah, money machine.
