Shadow Dragon is actually fairly good from a gameplay stand point. It's sad that it's plauged by the lack of good story or dialouge.
:VIt's not nearly as bad as perhaps me and SD make it out to be, but as a remake and part of the fire emblem series it's terrible. Most of the small things (The lack of resistance on a good deal of characters normally for one) that suck are all things that exist because they tried to make it familiar to the new system players, while staying true to the old game. Meaning you not only killed the point of them in the old system but kind of butchered the new system too!
Forging and Reclass while both kind of interesting, hold a special grudge in my heart. Forging is simple. I have a 15 might 30 crit -iron sword- sitting on my thief, because I shelled out 20k gold. This is a better weapon for regular use than the Falchion, a -legendary- weapon. While this is obviously due to my tendency to arena whore, it is ridiculous and silly. To be truthful this is probably the extent you'll get in a normal run because forging is limited to one weapon a chapter and -so damn expensive-. Which is kind of... What, toss me an option and then make me grind the hell out of ARENAHELL to actually use it?
Reclassing seems amazing- I've noted it can be useful for forcing gains in certain stats, but you'd -never- know this without the help of guides. You can't even really use the reclass option efficiently or without potentially fucking up without a guide with growth rates off hand. Casual players probably never even touch the option because they don't know what would work well. Which kills the point of the option.
Tldr; Shadow Dragon sucks.
