Kikuri's theme is a mix of Complete Darkness and Maiden's Capriccio

I know this has probably been discovered before  :V

Both were composed after Kikuri/Elis's themes.

Ok, learning psychology now, so you already know who I'm gonna talk about.

There was that guy called John B. Watson. He was specialised in behaviour things. He also made that crazy experiment called Little Albert.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Albert_experiment

I said to a friend, ZUN should have named Koishi's theme Watson's Youkai Boy instead of Hartmann's Youkai Girl but then it suddenly hit me...
Koishi means Little Rock. The experiment was Little Albert.

Let's make it an interesting coincident, but I just noticed that.

Hartmann worked on/founded ego psychology, which is Koishi's thing.

Take a gander at the primary ego functions, cited from wiki.

Reality Testing: The ego?s capacity to distinguish what is occurring in one?s own mind from what is occurring in the external world. It is perhaps the single most important ego function because it is necessary for negotiating with the outside world. One must be able to perceive and understand stimuli accurately. Reality testing is often subject to temporary, mild distortion or deterioration under stressful conditions. Such impairment can result in temporary delusions and hallucination and is generally selective, clustering along specific, psychodynamic lines. Chronic deficiencies suggest either psychotic or organic interference.

Impulse Control: The ability to manage aggressive and/or libidinal wishes without immediate discharge through behavior or symptoms. Problems with impulse control are common; for example: road rage; sexual promiscuity; excessive drug and alcohol use; and binge eating.

Affect Regulation: The ability to modulate feelings without being overwhelmed.

Judgment: The capacity to act responsibly. This process includes identifying possible courses of action, anticipating and evaluating likely consequences, and making decisions as to what is appropriate in certain circumstances.

Object Relations: The capacity for mutually satisfying relationship. The individual can perceive himself and others as whole objects with three dimensional qualities.

Thought Processes: The ability to have logical, coherent, and abstract thoughts. In stressful situations, thought processes can become disorganized. The presence of chronic or severe problems in conceptual thinking is frequently associated with schizophrenia and manic episodes.

Defensive Functioning: A defense is an unconscious attempt to protect the individual from some powerful identity-threatening feeling.

Koishi's ability is to read a person's subconscious.
Koishi's spellcards are all based on psychology, many of which are based on Freudian theories (Id, Super-Ego, etc.)
Many people interpret Koishi's heart bullets as, well, you know.
One of Freud's other theories is Penis Envy.
Gensokyo is largely all female.
Discuss.

Reimu's ability to eat sweets and not get fat...

The reasoning for a smaller hitbox?

Disclaimer: It's 1 AM and I probably won't make sense. To quote the sunglasses dog: Deal with it.

Marisa. Black/white witch. Not overly colorful, yeah?

I just realized (thanks Mary!) that she has (to my knowledge) the most colorful spellcards ever. And her 'partner of choice,' if you will, is Alice. The seven-colored puppeteer.

Huh.

Yeah true.

It took me quite a while to notice that Reimu was bombarding me with Yin Yang orbs in IN stage 4, in the beginning I only used phantom solo chars and after that it took a while before I was unfocused long enough to notice  :derp:

Nitori's backpack has no shoulder straps. :o

It's possible that the crossing bands + key are what attach the backpack to her back. Still.

Be that as it may, the purpose of that key she wears is still ~a mystery~.

That key is to open marisa's house so she can search/disarm all the stuff in there, duh. Why do you think she partnered up with her? xD

I've noticed that in Imperishable Night, there are five little transparent boxes that orbit around bosses.  I'm not exactly sure what these are supposed to represent, but in Kaguya's case, they could be interpreted as the five items from her Impossible Requests. :V

I came up with this thought cuz the first time I noticed this was when I was watching a replay of Hourai Elixir, and when I saw the objects orbiting around Kaguya, I thought "Could those be the Impossible Request items???"

But then, of course, what are all the other boss characters doing with them? :derp:

(The answer:  Everyone Stole the Precious Impossible Request Things)

Totally out-there guess, but maybe it's the bosses' (slaves/servants/familiars/whatever they're called) that go 'away' when you focus?

Not exactly.  These things are separate from the boss's familiars.  Anyway, I still have no idea.  I was just tossing a random thought out there. :3

You can actually see one of Ran's ears in her defeated portrait. It makes me wonder what other things are hidden when you defeat everyone else...

Also, the things orbiting around the bosses are just an effect like the spell circle. No real purpose except looking cool.

Talking about this, have you seen how danmaku isn't supposed to hurt but when you defeat someone their portrait has their clothes somewhat ripped and a few injuries?

From what I understand, danmaku is basically like paintball - it still really sucks when you get hit, but it's not going to kill as long as both sides follow the rules. But it's all open to interpretation anyway, and we shouldn't let the topic get derailed over whether danmaku hurts or not.

danmaku DOES hurt them, but not as much as we think and characters use a lot of energy in their spells than we do in our normal shots :P

Speaking of danmaku's nonlethality...

How in hell does Mokou literally DIE whenever you clear any one of her spell cards?  Danmaku and Spell Card Rules were created to overcome this, weren't they?
