Only in RBY :V

Still tons of lower tier pokemon have lots of promise it's just the smogon sets are generally more consistent despite beeing wasily predicted.

This makes odd things like Choice Scarfed Gyarados or Lower tier Pokemon hilarious in Standard against people who don't know what to do.

I could sweep Sana's team with one :V

In all seriousness it might have some value as a revenge killer but (insert Smogon Scizor here) could do most of what it does better. Still has promise though.

yeah they usually have a life orb

What about a Fire Fang Steelix? Should counter Scizors nicely...a Steelix should be able to take a non STAB Superpower, right?

It depends on whether Scizor's able to Swords Dance first.

You should clearly be asking if Steelix can take a CB Bullet Punch instead :V

if he has CB, he most likely won't get atk boosts
is a CB bullet punch that damaging even when NVE and vs 200 def?

I feel like the I'm the only one here who has nothing to do with competitive battling...

On topic though, currently training a Flareon.  After this reaches Level 100, I'll finally have all of the Eevee evolutions at Level 100.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.

I remember Flareon being a bit underwhelming thanks to the fire type-physical attacker stuff...are there any good physical fire moves now? :V

I don't know.  The only physical fire move I actually had it learn was Fire Fang because I don't do the whole "breeding for moves" thing.

Didn't realize that Regice was a legendary since I was just looking at ALL 22 ICE POKEMON and picking from that list. Seriously, with all the pokemon in existence how the crap is there only 22 Ice types. It's sickening and depressing.  :colonveeplusalpha:

On another note, I guess Weavile would be pretty good to have. I wouldn't mind Lapras but then I'd have two water types in there and blah. This is purely for main-game stuff, not competitive or anything... so really I don't care about movesets enough to plan them.  :V

So final team is:

Abomasnow
Glaceon
Weavile
Froslass
Walrein
Mamoswine

...Seems pretty good to me. I actually get an okay type spread here too with Grass, Dark, Ghost, Water, and Ground mixed in. My only concerns are how terrible of a defensive type Ice is. Glass cannons ahoy?

I might try one of these mono-type challenges too.
It would have to be in Platinum.
I'd like to do steel in Platinum, would this be a poor choice?
I can trade from basically any of the GBA games, Soul Silver and Diamond, but i refuse to use most legendaries.

Any mono-type team can be a "poor choice" since there's going to be a handful of gyms that are just made to rape you, so don't really put too much thought into if a certain type will be good or not. I picked Ice simply because it's my favorite element in most games. In Pokemon it's a pretty bad typing but who cares.

That said, Steel is a fantastic defensive typing so most things will have a hard time getting through your pokemon and I can see it being a fun one to do.

Well, Platinum would be slightly easier than any of the other DS games to do Steel in partly because you can get Magnezone without a National Dex/trading.

I remember fighting Jasmine with a Typhlosion, not knowing he's weak to fire and using Dig like 20 times :V

ever since, I wanted a fucking Steelix

I didn't know for a while that you had to trade an Onix holding a Metal Coat to make it evolve into Steelix.  For some reason I thought it would happen through leveling up, so I would train Onix until they were in their 40s or 50s before I would get sick of nothing happening and get rid of them.

Ok, so steel in Platinum it is.
So far a rough idea for a team might be:
Empoleon
Metagross
Aggron/Steelix
Magnezone
Skarmory
Scizor/Lucario

This isn't final and since I haven't started yet it's open to changes, though the Metagross stays.  I'm open to suggestions, especially since this is my first time doing something like this.

Heatran over Aggron/Steelix and Lucario over Skamory.

Heatran is overpowered and can make things easy for you and Skamory is for stall teams. Judging from the presence of Scizor, I'm guessing it isn't a stall team.

Thank you, but I have somewhat of a problem with Heatran .  The only one I could get is the one in my copy of Diamond, which comes at level 70.  I'd have to trade him over, and being level 70 he wouldn't behave and he'd be somewhat annoying and useless until quite far into the game, by which point I'd be practically done.
The only reason I mentioned Skarmory is because it's steel and can learn Fly (I have a good friend, his name is move deleter.)  So I'll just get rid of it if that will make the team better.

Spoiler:
So.  According to Serebii, about the last 13 Pokemon in the Isshu Dex are legendaries.

If this is confirmed, then what were they thinking?

Spoiler:
Eh, I only see 12, to be exact (13, counting Victini). This is a step down from DP's 14 legendaries. :V

Pokebeach has more detailed information about that, by the way. This generation's pseudo-legendary powerhouse is a three-headed Dark/Dragon. Also, Dragon/Ice legendary can be POKEMON GRAY material.

Yay New York region.

Yeah.  I probably should've counted them first.  :derp:

Spoiler:
I DO however approve of the legendary that will be the first Pokemon (excluding Arceus) to become a pure Flying-type.  :3
