Bad Endings?
« on: May 11, 2010, 01:41:12 AM »
I dunno if this should belong in Help Me Eirin, but I'm actually wondering what happens in the bad endings of UFO. Can someone PM me what happens, since I don't really feel up to failing 6 (3?) 1ccs, even if it's with my favorite game in the entire darn series.

They're all trapped in Hokkai, and their fate ranges from eternally trying to find their way out to being inferred to be eaten by youkai.

Baity: For a moment, I thought you broke 1.1billion. Upon looking at my score.dat, I can assume that you destroyed the score that is my failed (first!) 1cc attempt on my first day of playing. Congratulations.

*shudders*

Huh. I knew that they be stuck in Hokkai because of another topic here, but being eaten by youkai?...

Now I'm more curious as to what happens to each character... Anyone willing to share?

The ending wiki is gone, and I didn't manage to save the cache of UFO before it disappeared. :( The one where it's inferred that they died is Sanae B BTW. I also remember Sanae A's ending has Sanae being brainwashed into a mindless slave taught Byakuren's ideals and comes to accept them...while still being trapped in a foreign land for eternity.

Oh, wow. Damn, so nazi Sanae gets the worst end of the stick?... [/joke]

Then again, Reimu and Marisa both are still stuck in Hokkai...

Holy crap, ZUN. When did things get so serious?

And I have to fail 6 1ccs. Great.

The bad endings of UFO is the "but" when ZUN said that UFO "will have a lighter story, but...".

actually..

- there's no nazi Sanae
- one ending (iirc) has Sanae knowing that she shouldn't fight the youkai at Makai, or else she would've likely be eaten
- the other ending (iirc) has Sanae having to listen to [strike]Yama[/strike] Byakurenergy preach
- iirc Marisa has one ending where she's stuck for the time being and thinks to herself that she's too young to enjoy being stuck in one place and doing nothing

in one of the good endings ("no, Byakuren is really a good girl"), Kanako and Suwako help Byakuren[strike]ergy[/strike] settle the Holy Palanquin near the human village. Kanako is suspicious about Byakuren and watches her constantly, while Suwako helps her without as much thoughts. Byakuren comes to Kanako, chats a little with her and then Kanako decides that she's honest, after hearing Byakuren's story, though she's still (in her opinion) someone that people should be careful of.

How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

She's more like Genocide-tan.
Cheating? I cannot even wrap my head around the point of it. Wouldn't you know you had cheated? How on Earth could you maintain crisp certainty of your superiority to all others? And if you're unable to do that, what's the point of anything?

Oh, okay... It still isn't as good as the actual scripts, but okay.

But I've 1cc'd the game with all the shots more than once at this point, so I'm not concerned about the good endings.

Sanae getting eaten sounds like a good canon ending IMO.
Ok I don't like her but I don't hate her THAT much, poor Sanae!

I said "inferred." To be honest I probably worded it wrong, but it was something along the lines of "Sanae soon learned that denouncing youkai here could cost her her life." :x

Since I'm a maniac and collect these as I 1cc (or fail to do so in this case), here is SanaeB's bad end to clear things up

...you could infer that she dies :V

That seems like "Gensyoko is full of youkai. If she tries to exterminate all youkai, A: They'll gang up on her and om chom nom or B: She'll eventually run into a god-tier youkai ala yukari." The main hint towards this is that "Trying to defy them all could cost her life", implying the youkai will not be too hostile if left alone.

I wonder if she'll keep her "beating youkai is fun!" attitude or wisen up. Of course, she's supposedly gone off the deep end, so who knows what she'll be like in TH13...

I know Touhou doesn't really push the whole grimdark thing but it can get pretty heavy sometimes.

SanaeB is far more reasonable than SanaeA.  Still has her head in the clouds, though. ('Secret treasure ... ? Are you talking about those charms with "P" and "point" written on them?')

How do you get bad ends, anyway?  There doesn't seem to be a hard limit on continues--I assume it's 'finish the game after continuing,' but I can't take Byakuren on 2 lives.

You could just game over intentionally on Stage 2 if you can handle the difficulty of the game, which would be simple on Easy.

Considering you can reach Byakuren with 2 lives and 7 bombs off a continue, it's pretty doable. That means you can get a total of 11 bombs for Byakuren, which means anyone other then MarisaB can pretty much bomb EVERYTHING she has and not actually dodge other then her final spell.

Well, you have to beat the stage portion without bombing for that, but you can still use 2 bombs on stage and bomb everything Byakuren has easily. Reaching Stage 6 with 3+ lives in a story run almost guarantees a clear for these reasons :V

Uh, there's a much more simpler method if you're capable of consistent 1cc's (we're talking MoF>, right?). Game over on Stage 1, play through as normal for the rest of the game.

Just saying.

I figured that wouldn't work as continuing on Stage 1 leaves a 0 as the last digit of the score.

I thought it would put a number up along with it. Oh well.

That said, I went off and confirmed that you get a GOOD END after "continuing" on stage 1, whilst 1cc'ing UFO Easy No Vert. Fun stuff save for the obvious impossibles. Even managed to summon a UFO.
