Microsoft cleared the free re-release of MechWarrior 4 last week and the wait is just about over. 

You can now download the full game, including both the Clan and IS mech packs and MekPak 3.1.

The patch to remove the CD-checks and make it playable isn't available at the time of this post, but if all goes well it should be up within the next 24 hours.
If you still have your CDs you can download and play this version right away.

Also, the download includes a .pdf of "Trial Under Fire" by Loren Coleman, a novelization of MechWarrior 3.
Good if you need a little something to read while you wait for the patch.

You might want to get this version even if you have a copy of the game since it has MekPak 3.1, which includes everything that was in MekPaks 1, 2, and 3, as well. It adds a lot of new mechs, weapons, equipment, bug-fixes, various gameplay improvements, ect.

Also, several types of Battle Armor have been added to the game as well. Remember Elementals from MechWarrior 3? You get those as well as several others.:

It also adds better multi-player support and makes the stuff from the Clan and IS mechpacks as well as those from MekPak usable in campaign.

The patch that will remove the CD-checks will also add support Hi-Definition and Widescreen resolutions.

Having some issues connecting to servers here, So im currently redownloading the entire thing from scratch (Been playing MP3.1 since before the free release. Not sure why I'm struggling to connect now.)

Im just relieved the legal issues with the unseens had cleared, so I don't lose my beloved Marauder, and at least now, I can find a decent game without having to wait until midnight  .

Also, playing as battle armor is fucking fun online. Taking down a Behemoth with an Elemental is <3

Well, i've cracked the connection problems I've been having. Apparently, there is a bug in the MTX which causes the core.mw4 file in the .0020 update to corrupt. I assume people here would be having the same problem, so heres the fixed file. Just replace the old core.mw4 with this one (its in RESOURCES/core.mw4)

Nevermind. New update is released, which fixes the issue I believe.

Anyone playing this then? Enjoying the single player, but haven't found many people to play it online with at the moment.

Wonder if you can do mission play online? Because man, some missions would be so much easier without retarded AI.

or when they either A) not follow you, B) are not smart enough to be able to follow you, or C) decide they ARE going to help, when you don't want their help, IE shooting a heavily damaged assault mech right next to you, blowing it to peices and fucking your mech up in the process. thanks guys!
