Phillip's is best known for its seafood (its crabcakes in particular) but as I said, it's got a really varied menu and the prices aren't that bad. You all could probably get a big-ass table on one of the decks overlooking the harbor if you call for reservations now.

I am about to call and see what they can do.  What time are we looking for?

EDIT: I don't think most people would find this to be a good price

DOUBLE EDIT: Luckily it's right next to a Hooters :V

If youse are gung-ho for CRAB BATTLE, we could get to Obrycki's - but that's definitely a bulk taxi or drive job, as it involves walking a good distance through not nice neighborhoods.

And there's also more than one Phillip's in that building. At least there was last summer. But there are two large pavillions at the Inner Harbor, with a number of restaurants with outdoor seating. You'd be well advised to call around.

AFAIK there's the Philips' buffet and the Philips' sit-down.  I second the emotion of Philips being overpriced touristy seafood.  Sure, it's decent quality and well prepared, but $30 for two crab cakes is overpriced.  They're fine crab cakes, but $30 for crabcakes is NYC super duper mega awesome restaurant crab cakes.

Honestly, I second Hooters.  We're a rowdy bunch, I'm sure, and it's probably doable to get a bunch of people in.  Plus I can slam down shots of their hot sauce and come out thirsty for more.   :dragonforce:

What other group-dining options are available Inner Harbor-wise, or possibly across via water taxi?  I am not local enough to know of the good spots.  ;_;

You'd actually be firsting it, I really don't feel like going to Hooters.  Lack of seafood and abundance of local wings, etc.

Plus, I'm sure they hate working when Otakon comes around, so I'd rather leave them be

That and for obvious reasons I'm not exactly enamored with a place with that sort of theme (regarding Hooters). Though I could be way off. I suppose I'm more ambivalent, it's a matter of circumstance

Either way, if I really wanted to go to Hooters, fuck, there's one right near a bus stop where I live. So, somewhere different would be cool.

That said, if you all insist on having dinner there, I'm reluctantly up for it.

I like how MJP is speaking as if he's going to be around on Thursday night to join in :V :V :V

The Hooters is a huuuuge Otakon hit but I'm not so sure about on Thursday night.

Get some ideas here?

Again, I have zero idea when I'm arriving I'll know in a few days maybe so don't count me in on any plans.

Argh.  Crap.  Is there going to be another fooding get-together or at least an opportunity to hang out after the con and imbibe some choicest malt liquor beverages?

I think even I have more taste than a Hooters joint, and I'd prefer not to spend upwards of $30 on dinner alone, forget about tip, tax and drink. I'll be looking myself and I'll see if I can't get someone to recommend us something. In the meantime, would you kindly look for someplace that doesn't cost a week's salary and has more taste than a Hooters?

I don't live in Baltimore, I've never been to Baltimore, so I have no idea what I should be looking for.  I will, however, do what I can based on the suggestions of others.

Today or Tomorrow I'll hit up the Yelp link I posted to, that might be the best bet you guys have.  They opened a California Burrito Tortilla I think it's called, MJP and I ate there alot last year but I have no idea how group friendly it is.  There's also some what appears to be Applebee's type places floating around too.

It's a big tourist area so prices are going to be kinda high no matter how you slice it short of all going to McDonald's.

EDIT: http://www.picklespub.com/ looks like it might not be so bad as long as there's not a baseball game Thursday night.

Worse comes to worse, you can always just walk up Charles Street and stop at any one of the dozens of delis.

True or the Inner Harbor food court will probably not be superswamped Thursday night and you guys can just move tables around for however many people come on down.

I'm now at a 30% chance of making an appearance just based on estimated likelyness of transporation methods and/or bus schedules ($17 bus from NYC to Baltimore UH HELL YEAH SIGN ME UP except it's $13 for the train to NYC  :fail:) and MJP is coming in Friday at who knows o'clock.

I'm up for just about anything, though. Other than Hooters.

I've eaten at California Tortilla over the years. It's alright. I prefer Chipotle for similar type of food but that isn't across the street from the convention center. Both are fairly cheap.

If you're going for a sit-down meal, Tir na Nog is a respectable place with very decent food and alright prices. Every other restaurant I know of is either overpriced, overcrowded, or not within walking distance.

Hell yeah it does.

I'm not a big fan of any of the sit-down restaurants in Baltimore.  When I go to Otakon I'm interested in spending money being nerdy, not on better-than-average food.  Last year I mostly ate stuff out of a can that I brought with me to the hotel. \o/  That said, I'll usually eat lunch in the food court.
