phantasmagoria of something Touhou 13 speculation

There has been some small talk that the next game might be a phantasmagoria game (note this thread is not the expectation that this is true it's just a guess). One feature of those games is that they have many playable characters. Who do you think should be in a Phantasmagoria game if another one is made?

Yamame, Utsuho, Suwako and Wriggle. From my choices these seem the most plausible. Flan, Yukarin and Shinki-Sama would be great, but there's only a small chance they'd actually get in...

Sanae and Utsuho seem to be obvious additions. I think Shou could make it in too, considering ZUN's seemingly newfound love for curvy lasers. I doubt newcomers will be from older games who already have had someone in PoFV.
But I'd also be really happy if ZUN tweaked the control system for easier use.

And also Muse, because she needs more love. Yes, even though she's a godmoding Mary Sue in Kioh Gyoku, she is damn terrifying fun to fight.

Sanae and, say, Koishi would be wonderful additions as well. So would Kogasa and Nue, because their plots would just be "let's go out and surprise/scare people for the heck of it!", in true Phantasmagoria style.

When it comes to characters, it's fairly likely that we'll get characters like Hina, Kogasa, Koishi, Nitori, and Nazrin as new characters. Nue and Suwako are also possibilities.

What I'd also like from a new Phantasmagoria game is less BS powers from characters. For example, nothing like Medicine's poison, or Shikieiki's mirrors. Yuka's flowers were also annoying.

If ZUN does end up making a Phantasmagoria game, the only improvement I would be happy with is more pretty danmaku, less random shit spam. The patterns in Touhou games are supposed to be beautiful, not a fuck-tonne of dots going at random speeds and angles. Even the PC-98 games had prettier danmaku than PoFV, simply because the dots were at least in some sort of pattern. The game would exponentially increase in entertainment value if it somehow improves on the danmaku, to me at least.

As for possible characters, I'd have to mostly agree with Patorikku's list, they seem pretty plausible:

All that said, I'd still prefer to see a regular 6 stage + extra game for TH13, but a Phantasmagoria one wouldn't hurt (especially if there's a much better online versus system!).

I don't care if the characters are new touhous or lawn gnomes from Periphery of Power - but hopefully the difficulty won't be extremely scaled by winning and losing and hopefully the CPU will dodge in a realistic manner, not like Jesus.

The rumor that the next game will be a Phantasmagoria game? Likely comes from ZUN releasing a StB sequal, and it seems likely he could release another Phantasmagoria game since he has a whack of new characters to use for it. There is no real base other than gut feelings and speculations, just one more thing to ponder about really.

Reimu, Marisa, and Sanae are a definite for the next Touhou game, regardless of if it's a Phantasmagoria or not. Nitori is very likely to appear, given that she had a partner spot in Subterranean Animism and she was set for Hisou Tensoku as well. Taking from the previous Phantasmagoria, we can possibly expect Shou and Nazrin a la Reisen and Tewi, as well as Hatate since she needs more screen time anyway. I think Kogasa and maybe Hina have a good chance of appearing, too, taking after Cirno and Mystia. I really don't expect anyone from the Underground to appear, since the incident will probably take place above ground, so the one with the highest chance of appearing is Utsuho (maybe Koishi? I'm not sure).

So the final lineup ends up as:
- Reimu
- Marisa
- Sanae
- Nitori
- Hina
- Kogasa
- Shou
- Nazrin
- Utsuho
- Hatate

And since there were fourteen characters in the last Phantasmagoria, there should be around four to five new characters in this next one, with maybe one "returning" character (although I highly doubt Mima is going to make a return).

Will be interesting if the "no in play before" appeared too: Hieda no Akyu, Rinnosuke and the 3 Faeries , or well Ranko and Maribel. (that depends of the story, because Ranko and Mari are outsiders...)
how the book edition of Touhou Kourindou was reatrased and run rumors about who this year is "the year" ...maybe will happen the same with the anterior Pantasmagoria, who we have Aya in it. (that year appeared a book and a game with her) For that, following this logic, maybe can go Hatate, Rinnosuke and (why not?) Tokiko n_n (dreaming...)

Oh man... a new Phantasmagoria game would be kickass right about now.

Reimu and Marisa are obvious; I'd like to see Sakuya, Cirno, Aya, and Reisen return too, along with one of the PoFV-"introduced" cast (Preferrably Yuka), and probably Alice too (Much as I don't particularly care for her she could be interesting - EX attacks that place her dolls on the opponent's field, that only fire when her spells activate...? Hm...

As for new character possibilities...
Sanae: EX shot sets a star which moves forward a few moments later, piercing things.  Her spellcards do what she does best - throw bullet walls.  Ends up god tier because of this.
Momiji: Promoted from midboss status like Tewi was.  Fights much like Youmu did.  She still throws those FUCKING BULLET CIRCLE THINGS ARGH but they have smaller bullets making passing through them possible.
Suwako: Sort of similar to Tewi.  Throws her Iron Rings to bounce off of walls as her EX attack, but they're much smaller.  Spell attacks involve drawing out straight lines of smaller bullets that wait a moment before spreading out, much like in Jade Princess/Suwa War.
Satori: "Standard" bullet type and stuff for herself, really, but the spells and EX attacks she uses against her opponents are those of whoever she's fighting.  When two Satoris fight, they just get random spells from other characters.
Orin: EX attack involves sending 'fake' fairies at the opponent.  When destroyed, they send down extra bullets at the opponent.
Utsuho: Fucking suns.  Not much to say here.
Ichirin: Akin to Yuka.  Her brofists are big, but very slow.
Nue: The game's Medicine.  Her EX clouds don't slow you down anymore, but have a much greater effect on obscuring bullets coming your way.

The new characters... who knows?  I want some goddamn shota dragon as final boss ... wait.  Yes, I do want that.
