I have been trying to unlock extra in StB for a while often needing more than 300 shots for a single scene (record goes to Ran's 8-7 with 569 shots taken...)
I have played DS about 3 times and cleared level 1 to 6 entirely and I'm just starting to have a bit of troubles and the most shots I spend on a single scene is around 100...

So far I'd say DS is much more easier.
Normal: 2,4-12
Extra: 4-8,10-12
Hard: 4,6-8,10
Lunatic: 8

I'm currently farther in StB than in Double Spoiler, and if I'm having this much trouble in Double Spoiler, I'm going to have a lot of trouble when I decide to go back to StB.

My general experience is that Double Spoiler is much easier, due to the LOL EASY MODO vertical shot that practically doubles your photo range. The exceptions of course are Seamless Wall of BS and Hanako-San's Random Death.

I honestly dislike the camera in DS, even with vertical mode it doesn't seem to "zoom" toward the boss away from Aya as much as it did in stb. I find it easier though because the  danmaku just plain seems easier to dodge IMO.

The puzzle aspect grew on me more and more. I've done runs where I just practice dodging without even trying to take pics, planning where to focus, unfocus, shoot. That's a lot of fun. One thing that I think is really interesting about the game is how even though Hatate has that oversized frame, her zoom is absolute rubbish. To the point where I wonder if the larger frame really makes the spellcards easier to capture despite the crap zoom, or if it just seems easier since you've already done these cards once. I'm a very zoom-reliant player in both StB and DS, so maybe I just have little practice in trying for couple shots.

Yeah, that one's kind of a luckfest; I mean, I think my file says I captured it in, like... it was either 7 or 9 photos.

Well, DS has a lot more stuff to do...and StB has more BS...but DS has the most BS scene ever, 10-4 as Hatate. Although it took me 274 photos...

Let's put it this way that I can recall any of those nerve grating songs from StB without even trying and it's been mooonths since I played it last time, but if I try to get one into my head from 12.3, but no, not even a single note passes by. I can assume that 12.3 was less difficult as it didn't leave any songs playing in my head even after meeting the brick wall and huge difficulty spike, unlike the fucking garbage you call "music" in StB that will stay in your head forever.

I only ever got up to level 6 on both without downloading another score.dat.

Neither game seems to be completely bullshit though to just get through.  I still haven't managed a Hard 1cc (Though I've got all Normal 1ccs and most Extras done), but I've reached level 10 in StB and even cleared 10-8; meanwhile, I've been able to unlock Hatate in DS.  I'd guess that, more because of its low unlock requirements, DS is the easier one.

Now 100% completion... -that's- a good question.  I'm not sure which actually places as harder there.  Both have quite a few cards that just go way over my head or way beyond my capabilities.

100% completion in both games can't be that hard, as even I could do that, and I haven't even 1CC'd SA/UFO hard. Well, maybe it's just because I love the structure of these games. Took me 19 hours 30 minutes total in DS to beat all scenes as both characters...not sure how long it took in StB.
