What's A Touhou Fan?
« on: March 24, 2010, 11:04:52 PM »
Ya know how Guitar Hero, Naruto, Star Trek, Call of Duty, fans of all types are different in their own ways?

What are touhou fans like?

I haven't meant many touhou fans irl so I don't really understand the general thingies and sayings and whatnot everyone shares in common.

Diagrams and pictures would be helpful in your explanations.

We're all bat snarking insane.

60% of the fanbase likes their loli hentai way too much.
Spoiler:
And I hate it.

If you aren't insane for one character,

even secretly,
you suck.

Well I'm a fan of the story and Universe. I use to play it just for the story and I sucked at the game, but I have gotten better over time.

Yeah, with something like, "I skewer you Marona if you touch my Sanae", and we're at a waifu topic.

Or things continue as intended, and becomes something like "I'm more Fan than you!"

Touhou fans are a bunch of single guys that like thing that a 9 year old girl would enjoy.

Perfect father material.

There are the Touhou fans, and there are the Bad Apple! fans, UN Owen Was Her fans, and the McRoll fans.

Remember to distinguish between Touhou fans and them. It'll save you time and space.

Hey, I enjoy U.N. Owen Was Her and the Donald version of it, or at least find them amusing. That's not nice.

But if you ask those people what touhou is, they don't know. I have no idea how you could think they were touhou fans anyways.

Oh, totally. Everything with "what" and "touhou" in the same sentence has tons of ways to turn out.

I've found most sentences with the word "what" in them turn out terrible for some reason.

A Touhou fan is a Touhou-themed implement used to move air in order to cool onesself.

In all seriousness, the good Touhou fans are fans of the games, their music, related works, and yes, even the madness-filled fanbase. Bad Touhou fans don't know that the witch girl with the braid and the girl in blue in Marisa Stole the Precious Thing are actually not sisters because he/she(/it?) noticed how similar their hair was.

A Touhou fan in general could probably use a shave, a better paycheck, and some time away from looking at girls in goth-loli style apparel.

Well, if we look at the anatomy of a Touhou fan, we can see that brain activity does not revolve mainly around that of which the average human does. We in fact see that instead of the average Touhou fan thinking of sex every second seconds, they think of Touhou every seven seconds. But of course, averages are terrible ways of judging things, because see, Gpop has Koishi on the mind at all times, and therefore unbalances the scales. However, what we do see is that reflexes and hand-eye coordination are improved in comparison to blah blah blah...

When it comes down to it, if you know of Touhou, you're a beginner. If you play or watch or read or listen to or whatever to Touhou, you're a Touhou fan. If you do any of the above constantly, your a Touhou addict and are in the right place. If you're like Gpop and wanting Koishi every second of the day, then you are what I would call a Touhou specialist.

Pardon me if I overused Gpop as an example or exaggerated on Gpop's character a bit.

I'd say there a couple different types of fans. Those that like Touhou for the games, for the characters, for the music... Most of them are different, though you can certainly like any of these things and still be a "fan of Touhou". I guess the simple question to ask would be: "Do you like Touhou?" If your response is "yes", then you're a Touhou fan.

Fanaticism is relative.

Fanaticism is relative.

In that case, have my interpretation.

A fan(atic) is a person who shows signs of above-average devotion and knowledge of a certain cause or thing (anime, video games, politics), setting them apart from someone, who, for example, merely follows the show, plays the games when bored, or watches the debates.

A fan will actively follow the show and often take active interest outside the episodes (fan art, fan discussion, etc), buy the games right as they come out and do their best to unlock as much stuff as possible (with the same outside-involvement), and write passionate letters to their representitaves.
