>"No good," says Patchouli, "I need two of them if I'm going to use them to talk with you. I suppose I'll have to improvise."
>She turns toward one of the wings of the library and calls, "Koakuma, I need you!"
>Moments later, the bat-winged familiar flies from behind one of the shelves and lands in front of Patchouli with a curtsy. "What can I do for you, Mistress?"
>"I need the two of the buttons from your vest, immediately," says Patchouli.
>Koakuma folds her hands together, wide-eyed, and draws them to her mouth. "I-In front of others, Mistress? How bold!"
>Patchouli groans, putting a hand to her forehead. "I don't need this from you right now, just give me the buttons and let me get to work. Please."
>"Oh fine," says Koakuma, pouting, as she produces a pocket knife and cuts free two of the buttons from her vest. "You're no fun at all anymore."
>"I was never any fun," says Patchouli as she takes the buttons and walks toward one of the empty tables. She lays the buttons down and examines them for a moment. Koakuma removes her damaged vest, making more of a show than you really would have expected possible out of it. Patchouli studiously ignores it. "The two of you should make your last minute preparations," she says, as she positions her hands over the buttons, then begins to chant.
