>You greet and wave to Sanae and Wriggle. "Hoi, choomba," says Wriggle.
>"That's good to hear," says Sanae. "Kanako-sama may not have any preferences in the matter, but I most certainly do. Unfortunately, neither she nor Suwako-sama are here right now I don't anticipate they'll be back til early in the morning. You could leave some offerings if you like."
>"Oh!" she adds after a moment's pause, "Would it be alright if I brought Wriggle with me to the feast?"

>You knock on the door, then wait patiently.
>After a minute or so, the door opens, and a rather disheveled and drowsy-looking Ran peaks out. "I expected it would be you," she says through a yawn as she steps outside. "Oh, you've found them all. Well then. You must tell me where the one in the mountains was hidden."

> Tell her about the ordeal regarding the green gem, then ask her about the lake shrine.

>You summarize the tale of the green gem. Ran facepalms. "I knew it! Every time, Chen said we should check out the waterfall cave, but I couldn't believe that somehow hadn't already gotten up there and found it. I suppose this is what I get for not know tengu customs better. I wonder though, if the Moriyas knew about it, why didn't they use it beforehand? They certainly had every reason to...Oh well, I'll talk with them about it later."
>You ask her about the lake shrine. "Oh, that old thing?" says Ran. "I never bothered with it much, it had a bad feeling about it. The faeries really didn't like it when people got close to it, either. I think it sank a few hundred years ago. I presume, since you're asking me, that it had some connection to the gems?"

>Ran frowns. "Well. Let me try to remember. It was in the middle of the lake, I remember that for certain. It wasn't really all that much to look at as I recall, rather drab and boring. We really only called it a shrine because there was nothing better for it. Um, I think there was some writing on it, but I don't remember for sure. It's been ages." She looks downward, furrowing her brow. "Let me think...it definitely had some warding magic on it. That's why the faeries didn't like it. I'm not sure why it sank, but I think there might have been a storm. That makes me think it was floating. That's about all I can remember. I know a few of the more foolhardy youkai of the day messed with it, but I don't think any of them are around now and I doubt they achieved much. I know Yukari looked into it, but well, she's still out for the season."

It's form looks mechanical, but ghostly in the sense that it's largly see-through. It only seems effected to any degree by attacks launched from the Gems, danmaku has no visable effect on it, and even then it can easily figure out how to dodge some of my Cards. I also have to manipulate the light and such in order to be able to actually see it."

> "Ummmm... that's difficult to tell, considering it's barly noticeable normally, but are you thinking thats why it got aggressive, and it held onto that hostility even after being defeated? Because I hadn't messed with the light at all when it attacked me the 4th time, and it grabbed me by the shoulders, in a painful manner, and lifted me into the air before I actually knew it was their. It's definatly possible it was initially aggressive due to me noticing it, but that doesn't change the fact that it only showed up after I had 2 of the Gems, making it very hard to deny some sort of attraction to the Gems themselves, especially considering that it had held onto the Green Gem tightly before I claimed it."

>"Well, I am wondering more if it is a conscious thing that it did, or simply a side effect of being...whatever it is. From what I gather, it didn't really seem to react to being uncloaked. I wonder, then, if it is aware that it was?"
>You rub your left shoulder. It's tender, but you don't think that it was bleeding. But, you do suspect that you got some nasty bruises from it.

>"Well, as I said, if you want to make things fly, Byakuren is the one to ask, and I'd bet that would apply to unsinking things too. But, that'd probably take a lot of time and work on her part. If you want to be able to go underwater, I would ask Patchouli. Her specialties include water magic. It would almost certainly be easier than asking Byakuren, too. But if you're going to try anything, you'll want a way to handle those wards around it. I do remember that they were quite formidable."
>"As an aside," she adds, looking upwards toward the multicolored light among the clouds, "Please tell me I'm not seeing things."

I needed to prevent an opponent of mine from calling upon them for aid, and the best idea I could come up with was for them to have a feast.
