I suppose this is what I get for not know tengu customs better. I wonder though, if the Moriyas knew about it, why didn't they use it beforehand? They certainly had every reason to...Oh well, I'll talk with them about it later."

The faeries really didn't like it when people got close to it, either. I think it sank a few hundred years ago. I presume, since you're asking me, that it had some connection to the gems?"

>Ran frowns. "Well. Let me try to remember. It was in the middle of the lake, I remember that for certain. It wasn't really all that much to look at as I recall, rather drab and boring. We really only called it a shrine because there was nothing better for it. Um, I think there was some writing on it, but I don't remember for sure. It's been ages." She looks downward, furrowing her brow. "Let me think...it definitely had some warding magic on it. That's why the faeries didn't like it. I'm not sure why it sank, but I think there might have been a storm. That makes me think it was floating. That's about all I can remember. I know a few of the more foolhardy youkai of the day messed with it, but I don't think any of them are around now and I doubt they achieved much. I know Yukari looked into it, but well, she's still out for the season."

>"Well, as I said, if you want to make things fly, Byakuren is the one to ask, and I'd bet that would apply to unsinking things too. But, that'd probably take a lot of time and work on her part. If you want to be able to go underwater, I would ask Patchouli. Her specialties include water magic. It would almost certainly be easier than asking Byakuren, too. But if you're going to try anything, you'll want a way to handle those wards around it. I do remember that they were quite formidable."
