I for one liked RA3.
the aliens are a nice touch.
You mean C&C3, right? RA3's new faction was
GLORIOUS NIPPON Japan.
I have to admit, I didn't play the games for a long time, but eventually started playing the "second generation" with people (Tiberian Sun/Firestorm, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge, Renegade, Generals). The third generation I can't run, but I have gotten to mess around a bit on Red Alert 3 and it seems decently fun.
Firestorm's decently fun, but it feels like nothing is capable of doing any decent damage except Disruptors which are just some complete and utter bullshit (In the bad way). I
do like being able to watch the reactions on my friends when they realise that my base is literally a fourth of the entire map, just completely stealthed so they have no idea.
Yuri's Revenge is just plain bloody awesome because Yuri is, well, awesome (Just as much as Kane, to me). Each of the factions is capable of so much bullshit (In the good way) and counter-bullshit. This one's my favourite.
Renegade I played online for a little bit with a friend's server, and did have some fun, but I was never very good (Except for the one time I snuck a Stealth Tank right into GDI's base, dismounted, and took out their refinery with an Ion Cannon beacon like 2 minutes into the match)
Generals is decently fun, but I have to say that I agree with my buds on one aspect: The game feels
really unbalanced to me. Firestorm and Yuri's Revenge I find really balanced and that any faction is very capable of winning in the right hands; with Generals, it feels more like "If America's being played, they win". Maybe I just haven't played it enough yet.
(I also feel like mentioning that C&C is the first series of competitive RTS games I've seriously played. My understanding of things like balance may be a little skewed)
