The connects with the Apparition's arm, and you see it recoil for a moment, before the shot explodes a blinding hail of fire, forcing the Apparition to take a step back. The gems fire another one, with similar results, then another. forcing it back each time.

>It didn't much effort at all. You wonder how the fight with the Oni Eater would have gone if you thought to do this back then?
>The Green Gem seems unharmed. The Apparition doesn't show any physical damage, but it never has to begin with.
>The Apparition leaps aside as the fourth shot from the two gems comes at it. It lands in a crouch, then springs toward you!

>You direct the gems to correct their aim, and you jump away from the oncoming Apparition. The gems try to adjust their aim, but the Apparition leaps too quickly for the next shot to connect; it doesn't seem this combination reacts well to rapidly changing aim.
>The Apparition lands a couple yards from you, and swings its free hand at you in a huge chopping motion, its size easily bridging the distance.

>You quickly dodge to the right, feeling an uncomfortable breeze just over your ears. There is no doubt this thing can affect reality, however spectral it may be.
>You direct the Blue and Purple Gems to mingle their power. The two gems fly together, combine their power. The Apparition starts to reverse its attack, when the two gems release a beam between the two of them, striking it in the chest. It staggers back, off balance and the attack ruined. At a glance, this new combination seems no different than the Blue Gem on its own, but you can feel the difference. It is not one continuous beam, but rather many small ones in succession. It would be easy to sweep this attack and create a rain of small beams.
>The Apparition moves away from the attack and draws back its fist to strike down at you.

This disrupts the hail of beams from the Blue and Purple Gems, but you make up for it as you leash a hail of danmaku. The sheer quantity of it still amazes you, it is as though you were layering two of your old barrages over each other. As well, you find you can hold it longer with the Purple Gem's support, and are quite certain they're striking harder.
>The Apparition leaps away, clearly unhappy with the many bullets that you send through it. You think it is slowing down.

>The three of them fly together, and you feel them mingling. Then the Red Gem unleashes a massive burst of flames at the Apparition as it prepares to charge at you again.
>You can feel what the gems are doing, rather than combining their abilities, they amplifying the Red Gem's power, in particular imparting significantly more range and intensity to its tongues of flame. You suspect you could do this with any of the them.
>The Apparition tries to dive at you through the flames, but it is unable to force itself to do so, and falls back. The flames continue to engulf it, and you can hear a sort of low growl-like noise as the Apparition fades away. The Green Gem sits on the ground where the Apparition fell.

>The cold seeps back into you, reminding you of your situation. You get a feel for the green gem's abilities. The name you want want to put to it is attraction, or perhaps magnetism. No...attraction is better. In the back of your mind, you see its power bending your attacks toward a target.
