I prefer to use DR in open maps like Orange, and regular/C&D in places like 2fort.

What's the difference between reg. and C&D?

C&D doesn't let you pick up ammo to refill cloak, you have about 1.8 seconds less cloak time at full movement speed, it recharges when you stay still while cloaked, and it's passive cloak recharge is about twice as fast as the regular watch.
Cheating? I cannot even wrap my head around the point of it. Wouldn't you know you had cheated? How on Earth could you maintain crisp certainty of your superiority to all others? And if you're unable to do that, what's the point of anything?

I really need to play Soldier more.  It's easily one of my best classes.

Just came back from ass-trolling with Direct Hit mini-crits on an idle server (before you ask, this is a "You can idle, but you can also beat the shit out of everyone a la deathmatch" type of map).  Almost made it seem like a not-garbage unlock for awhile.

I never gave it much of a chance, but I don't think it's all that useful.

Depends on the map. If it's a place where you can hornet around under cover, take quick potshots at people, and get out of there before they notice it's a good choice. The scattergun is better out in the open though, for the virtue of having more shots.

I do like the FaN in arena, though.

As a general note, all scout unlocks are downgrades (albeit only slightly).  The FaN's usable, but it sacrifices combat potential for an increase in mobility, and being a 125 HP class that also happens to be a priority target you're already in a pretty dangerous position.

Basically, only use it on maps where force jumping will benefit you significantly.  It's also useful on Doublecross if you aren't capable of doing most of the trickier jumps with only two jumps.

I use Bonk all the time to get past sentries on CTF maps.  Naturally this involves getting the team soldiers/demos/etc to show up and nuke them after I've gone through, so I have a safe path back.

Pistol's better overall though, I agree.

On ETF2L there was a FaN craze right after someone proposed to ban it and was unsuccessful. It was pretty annoying while it lasted, but just about everyone realised they're better off with the scattergun.

The knockback nerf on the FAN (specifically how much it knocks you back on a meatshot) is the best thing to happen.  Good scouts are a rarity but if they have good aim it was extremely annoying for them to just pop in and kill a medic while there was nothing you could do about it.

I don't really play scout at all, but when I have I prefer the scatter gun.  The bigger clip helps offset my shitty aim :D

Either I really sucked today or I was really unlucky.
My K/D was below 1, took some cheapshots like 2 crockets in a row then getting headshotted by an arrow while running and double jumping...on gorge in the final room.

Bonk's pretty much the only unlock that actually gets used in higher levels of play.

Which is amusing since most people think it's terrible. :V

Good for distraction too...I've seen 5 people run at one bonk scout.

It's great for all sorts of miscellaneous crap.  Most of it's pretty situational, but what better way to not get beaten to death when you're in a fight and your loads-slow-as-hell scattergun is out of ammo than to go invincible and rush your opponent while reloading? :V

Also, a useful guide for all your Bonk-related needs.

Granted, most of the stuff in it is already pretty obvious, but you'll probably learn a few new tricks at the least.

Oh right, Scout had the stupid achievements that're pretty much impossible to do.

Good luck then.

Half of them are from items I don't have, maps I don't play or just simply retarded.
If Bonk! is too hard to get and I already have the sandman+FaN sucks, then the achievements are useless :V

Nothing is as bad as the medic's achievements, though. Though the scout does have that "kill three people while under a ubercharge" one.

Should be replaced with "find a medic stupid enough to ubercharge a scout"

I still haven't gotten that one yet since it's for a medic achievement (You'll Feel A Little Prick).  I should really play on that private server again if one of the good scouts are on and see if we can get some hilarious kills with the Kritzkrieg, but lately I haven't even felt like idling.

Scout has an achievement where you need to hit the opponent with 20 max-range stun balls.

Good luck with that.

Works better than you'd think, though it's way too easy to run away from the medic accidentally.

I do wonder when we're finally going to get the Engineer update.
Maybe we can have a second pyro update because the backburner needs to be scrapped  :V

Just alternate between them.  The uber ends when the healing beam finishes reaching them, not when you take your crosshairs off.

Just got 3 refined metal and couldn't wait to craft a hat.  So I craft.

I get a Ten Gallon.

Now, this wouldn't normally be a bad thing, as the Ten Gallon's a pretty awesome hat.  However, I *never* play Engie.  So I decide to craft it with my Yellow Belt that I never use.

Mining Light.
