The white thing is the battle sea cucumber, and the black thing is the sea cucumber shield, the enemy in front of Reimu that doesn't look like any known touhou is the sea cucumber girl...I first saw her in the booklet pictures provided in the soundtrack of the game.

Screenshot is also meant to demonstrate the battle sea cucumber's ability to randomly transform opponents into sea cucumber girls.

-Started playing the Sanae standalone expansion, I guess it's not as bad as I first thought since weapons and stuff seem to drop more frequently and the presence of a random Kourindou shop helps too.

EDIT: How do I make them into thumbnails?
EDIT2: Never mind I figured it out :)

Suwanaeko combo looks awesome. Btw, pls edit your post so that the images are thumbnails. They are larger than the image restrictions.

That enemy may be something from the newer patches. I can't remember what ver my game is up to and I haven't played it in a while.

Yeah she is cute, problem is she only appears in the higher levels of the underground hakurei dungeon (around 80+)

In case anyone was wondering the bosses under Yukari in the OST pic can be met by going to level 30 again in the normal dungeon. It goes like this:
Spoiler:
-First play-through: Yukari

-Second play-through: Sanae

Third play-through: Sanae with some equipment,

dungeon then goes deeper up to 34 wherein you fight: Kanako, Suwako (one that actually fights) and Sanae again.

Depending on who you defeat first you'll be fought by yet another boss

If you defeat the Gods: Super Sanae (999 hp, has a combo skill, and a kamehameha like attack that deals default 100 damage)

If you defeat Sanae: A fusion of Sanae, Kanako and Suwako, which is much easier to deal with actually.

Err...sorry but what's the significance of April?

As for this game's translation patch, as far as I know it's basically on hold for an unspecified length of time.
Atai no Gensokyo; aka April Fools totally called it bitches.
The day that I received the (other) game via shipping. Along with DS and a few other little trinkets.

And well, that's a given. You can't assume that every translator / hacker will work for food 24/7. Well, it might help to get some more of this text out of the way.

Might start playing again once I'm finished up with all my scoring shenanigans.

I never knew more playthroughs were in order :ohdear:
It gets easier in a way.
Spoiler:
I tried to "rush" Floor 34; obviously underequipped and was 'ling-rushed (for lack of a better term) by Suwako

(around 80+)
FFFFFFFFFFF-

I still have Atai no Gensokyo sitting here just for laughs.

EDIT:
I THINK the shield and weapon only appear on rooms filled with a special kind of enemy type (the one that kinda looks like a sea cucumber girl), you know, the kind of room wherein you enter it and the background music changes.
Normally, people would call this a "vault" by convention of... other Roguelikes.

OH! Vault, speaking of those, I hate it when in the Sanae Game I get to a pretty advanced floor (say 13), and the next floor is a huge vault with the stairs all the way at the other side of the floor, sure the floor is littered with items and stuff but all the enemies are hell bent on rushing Sanae, and coincidentally I never seem to have offensive spellcards at that point  :(

Needless to say I haven't finished the Sanae game yet.

Yeah after the first play-through doing the normal dungeon is quite the piece of cake, as long as you always have a good grip on your leveled equipment, and stock up on fusion gaps.  I was always on the lookout for equipment that had special abilities that I hadn't incorporated into my chosen gear, and equipment with +1(2, or 3)s to forge my sea cucumbers into the ultimate weapons!  :derp:

For me the actual goal of the underground Hakurei dungeon are the sea cucumber items, which (to me anyway) are essential in defeating super Sanae, sorta like power-leveling in an item world just to defeat a post-game map in a nippon-ichi game.

No, they're still working on translating, just not on this game, It's too much of a bish to translate to bother for now I think

New enemy: Hatate
Special Skill: identifies random unidentified item in Sanae's inventory, googles the item with her cellphone camera  :D
EDIT: In one play-through she analyzed an ohagi, which are identified by default anyway, it might be more accurate to say that her special skill is to analyze random equipment, if it turns out to be an unidentified item then good, either way she wasted a turn not attacking me and is about to die  :3

First spawns in the 3rd and 4th floors of the dungeon, attacks you by taking your picture.

FINALLY beat the Sanae game  :D

Was lucky enough not to enter any vaults or get into any floors consisting entirely of a big vault.

The game gives you a great reward for your perseverance:
Spoiler:
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Sakuya is one scary enemy, she spawns in the last floors (20-23), deals high damage and has high defense (or maybe I was just under-leveled), she has the ability to fire a delayed shot (wherein she throws knives into the air, they don't hit you the moment she throws them but will home in on you a certain number of turns afterward, dealing a default damage of 20, this can happen even after she's dead).

Patch 1.10 and 1.11 are up for lotuslandexpress.
-Patch update says it adds a new dungeon, I think it means that we can see more diverse dungeon types per floor, as well as dungeon skins (experienced a sewer like dungeon with long hallways).

-Adds a cinematic intro, sort of explaining why there are trains sticking out of the hakurei shrine

-A new enemy: Yuka, appropriately spawns at floor 16 of the Sanae Dungeon (which is the sunflower field set at night time), luckily she's not aggressive and won't attack you on sight (but will hit you with an instant critical if you have the audacity to attack her, which I had since I didn't know what she was capable of at the time)

-also gateway to the dungeon changed to red instead of purple (perhaps to align with the cinematic)

EDIT: Sorry turns out there IS an actual new dungeon (according to the wiki anyway), it supposed to be another train wreck that replaces where the offering box should be, conditions to unlock it are unknown to me.

Also met a tier 2 Sakuya in an SDM themed vault, she had the ability to teleport to your location!
