Alright, I didn't want my hand in this, but I want to see you succeed a little. It's time to dig up from Creepy Uncle Zakeri's shady closet.

The reason most of these people seem to be annoyed with you, and why many of them don't seem to believe you is because you look like you're taking this sort of 12 year old fangirl mentality to it (And in all fairness, you are).

If you seriously want to crawl into these people's minds, you need to deepen your disguise to look more like one of them. This doesn't just stop at gauging whether other people will buy you thinking you're specific character X of specific alternate universe Y. The important part is making it look like you do think you are Ran Yakumo.

The best way of doing this is to take past experiences of your life, preferably not made up, and see how easily they relate to how Ran Yakumo would have done things. Take some of the better matches in those scenarios, and post them as evidence to why you're certain you're an incarnation of Ran.

It might do better to also work on your life as a human, and your referencing as such. It's alright to continue considering your human form as merely a vessel, but it might be best to slowly tone down on that as you spend time on these sites. The fact that you came on so strongly on the matter makes it look like you have no idea how Otakukin or Otherkin actually act, or should act.

Finally, you should probably remove non-sense like anything involving direct contact with fictional characters. If someone brings up the Yukari visiting part again, it would probably be best to find another human and place that human in her role (a mother would be the best bet here). Otherwise you risk sounding like you made this story up.

Good luck with this.

Zakeri said a lot of what I didn't manage to articulate in my rush last time. From a psychological standpoint, you'd have to be certifiably insane to believe that you made physical contact with characters like Yukari and Chen in this lifetime, so saying you've done so makes you stand out among the rest. Arguments about whether the rest of the Otherkin count as insane or not aside, it'd be a lot safer to tone it down to "dream contact" or something similar to what Zakeri suggested.

Anyway, your current story would be like someone saying that they ran through a meadow and rolled around in the snow with their fellow wolves, rather than feeling as one would. From a past case study I read up on, Otherkin don't normally make claims like that; they feel the connection to their "true selves" and think that their soul is of that other thing, but not their human body, like a vessel (as Zakeri also mentioned). If you downplay your Ran aspects for your human aspects and explore how "you" came to the conclusion of "I am Ran Yakumo," it'd be a lot more believable for everyone involved. You've already introduced yourself, so make it a bit more of a gradual change instead of a 180.

By the way, Mode, I rather like your new avatar/username/title/personal text combo. Rhyth('s grind stat in JSRF)~<3

Damn. That didn't take long. Its a shame the great advice above hadn't come earlier, or this really might have worked.

At this point, if you wanted to try again, it'd be drastically harder; you'd have to use a proxy and remember to keep it on all the time, pick a new character (and anything touhou would be suspicious, unfortunately, while anything else would be defeating the purpose of why you wanted to do ths)

Although, there is still other sites, of course.

I agree. It's a lot better then the previous avatar that was floating around, that's for certain.

This is a group of people that are widely open troll attacks. Otherkin have become a sort of Warrior race of the internet now thanks to that, and with how Sandy Yakumo is portraying herself, it's not really too much to assume she's just a troll. further argument on this subject would just be a "Who shot first?" sort of deal.

Not really, because you again run the risk of cross-membership. The only real chance mode has is to salvage Sandy, and it will take a lot of work and hammering out to do that.

The main problem with this experiment is that mode got too excited and fired off early.

I actually pasted that into the URL and tried again before realizing how dumb I am :V
stuff
Be careful with that. You don't want to get stuck as Sandy in an otherkin lair :V
Good luck if you decide to do that though. I would just give up at this point as acting like a "true otherkin" sounds a bit too complicated.

Also, give links or something to these communities. Unless I have missed them in this thread.

Links are at the beginning of the topic.

Also, I found the "Banned Users" Topic on their forum.

Reason: Troll or nuts (two nuts for us, and that really say's something)
Now that I think about it, it'd be really disturbing to think someone with a backstory like Sandy's would actually believe it's the truth. You know you're doing something wrong when you're too nucking futs to join these people.

Also, They're preparing for a seige of Trolls from another source on that website, so they probably will have their guard up for a while. Luckily, they don't think it's coming from MoTK, so if someone else wants to continue the experiment at a later date, it might be possible.

@Bananamatic: Yes, it is rather complicated. This is something that the otherkin spends many of their days thinking about - how their soul feels, and looks like, and how deep their affinity is with a certain creature or creatures. Anyone who walks in shouting "I'm Ran Yakumo From Gensokyo" Automatically looks like a clown at a mime convention. More then enough work needs to be put into your accident* if you plan on being successful with this.

I love how they fuck up not only by using a number instead of too, but with a fucking -apostrophe-.

Its like these people don't know grammar.

Edit: I'd also totally take a shot myself, if all options are lost. I unfortunately, have learned a great deal about being someone else on the internet.

Anyway, yeah. It's kind of dumb how people who claim and actually believe they are other non-human creatures and shun those who think they are fictional characters. It's prejudice to say the least!  :-\

I like on how in the wake of a complete failure brought upon by not understanding how the mind of the "Otherkin" works, you end up complaining about poor use of grammar in a single sentence.

It gets to a point where you're just trolling yourselves.

Oh well, too bad it had to turn out this way. >:

Now, what is there to do other than pick Sandy up from the ground? Evolve her, of course.

Armed with Zakeri and Jan's words, I can only formulate the Sandy 2.0.

A name change, a backstory change, etc. However, I'm not going to let this fall just yet. Unexperienced, I rushed in, guns ablazin'. Got shot down within a day. Still, this isn't the end for me just yet.

I'll find out how their minds work. First, however, I'm going to speak again with Tenshi about our LJ idea before I completely discard my little nutcase.

Ah, but what about a man claiming to be the reincarnation of a moon princess?
You know, I didn't even think about the cases where the 'reborn' person might have a different gender than their 'reincarnated soul'. Now I'm scared....

Also, just a thought I had right now, maybe it can give Mode some ideas for her next try:
This time you went in claiming to know all the details about your 'soul' (I'll just use this word for now to refer to the 'reincarnated person', okay?), and that got you attacked easily.
Now I was thinking, what if you went in as someone who has dreams/ visions/ etc., but can't make anything out of it and now wants to ask people for help that are in a similar situation, so that in the end THEY will be the ones to make you an otakukin.
So, for Sandy she might have described those scenes from Gensokyo she saw, but since she doesn't know Touhou or anything similar she couldn't make sense of it. Now if people try to help her they inevitably have to come to the conclusion that her 'soul' is Ran. Now it would be a lot harder to dismiss someone as a troll whom you helped to find their 'soul', right?

As another example, let's say I barged in somewhere saying 'I'm Jack the Ripper', that would easily ge me dismissed as troll. But let's say I came in and said 'I'm having dreams of killing people. I'm scared, help me'. That might get someone interested, so I continue to tell the details of the dreams. How they can't be in modern times, what the clothes of people look like and so on. If all goes well, the end result would be someone screaming 'Oh my god, there is no other possibility, you've got the soul of Jack the Ripper'. Dunno if I'm just being too optimistic here, but that's how I can imagine it.

Ah, and there I go writing walls again. That always happens once I get curious about something (x_x)
