Am I the only person here who finds it absolutely absurd that you can't save a replay while using a continue?
Get X far, do awesome but still don't complete the game. You want to complete it, but you want the replay.
So, why I can't I save a replay THEN use a continue to finish my game?
This is on the same level of not letting users define their own key layouts in terms of pretty asinine. :/
recently, I've reached Shinki, in Phantasm Romance (a danmakufu game) 2.5 Plus, Another Mode, it was my first time getting to the Extra 3 stage, I wanted to beat it to get to Extra 4, yet I lost my credit on it. As disappointed that I was, I said to myself that I wouldn't continue, but to restart the game and try again and again. (sadly, when I chose 'no', I didn't realize that that stage didn't seem to give me a Continue option, and instead it was actually asking if I wanted to save a replay. lol.)
tl;dr: I avoid continuing; if I were to choose between saving a replay and continuing, I would save a replay, knowing that I can get that far, another time, but that replay? I can't say the same.
I must check (once I have the opportunity) on how do commercial games save replays (I've seen some console versions do that), to see if they allow continues. When I had such an opportunity, I wouldn't even consider trying this. Most of the times, a premature death or a scoring mistake will make me restart the game.
