I thought Story of Eastern Wonderland was supposed to be the worst Touhou game. Then I tried HRtP. Fuck this game. I can get to Stage 10 of Normal on one credit then spam continues just to get to stage 10 of Normal.

The controls are complete crap as I bomb when I don't mean to, the orb is uncontrollable, and the hitboxes are completely fucked up more than SoEW.

Learn to beat the first half without bombing. Once you memorize it, everything before Nazrin is completely trivial and you can get 4 bombs 100% of the time by chaining correctly. Then just use those four bombs to reach Syou, and you can do the entire stage portion no deaths pretty consistently. You're on your own for Syou though.

Wait what?  Four bombs to reach Syou?  Actually forming UFOs in the first half?  whaaaaaat

I usually manage to make all of zero UFOs in the first half, die 12 times to Radiant Greatest whatever Treasure, do the 2nd half without bombing (except the very end), then either die or bomb to every single attack Syou uses (EXCEPT AURA OF JUSTICE WHICH I TIME OUT).  Usually if I die to anything I'll bomb immediately upon respawning.

Of course, none of this matters anyway because I could reach Legendary Flying Saucer with 8 lives in stock and game over.

As for LFO, I figured out my ultimate strategy! What you do, see, is you make sure the waves overlap as little as possible. Since they are made to concentrate on the spot they are fired, while staying as centered as possible, alternate between two vertical points about

apart. By doing this, you minimalize the amount of bullets you have to dodge, and I've already captured it twice with this method.

That was no fun at all. Didn't bother with a screenshot; and I wasn't recording because of a routine Virus Scan, and didn't want to "risk" slowing down the game as I was playing. Powered through the Green Blobs as if they weren't there; guess I got a bit lucky? The fact that I also powered through all of EES' phases didn't help either (I only saw 2 cycles of each attack in all honesty; the last phase is a joke and really, really easy). Hopefully, it will be more of a challenge with another Shot Type. Like I dunno... Defense / Movement?
Posting here in advance that both of the above mentioned Shot Types will have difficulty with the Green Blobs, and will cause many, many restarts. I do recall Movement being able to penetrate at Max Power so it should be theoretically possible. Defense is out of the question though.

EDIT: Three lives.  Game over on Dipper Creeping Close.  Helped that I died TWICE to bullets I didn't see with two bombs each on Sinkable Vortex.

Just want to point out that you didn't say what you did OR what shot types you were talking about. Nobody knows them by "defense" or "movement."

I don't use any form of macro / autofire, just so you know. Because I personally think it's cheating.

Let's put it this way: Tapping my normal way I with Reimu C I can kill maybe two of the big power dropping enemies during the wall section. By kicking moving to the curb and putting all effort into double tapping, I can kill five of them. Considering I can NEVER get full power by the green blobs this is a significant difference.

EDIT: Also Jaimers, I'm not sure if it's possible to pacifist Evil Eye Sigma. I know that the first three bosses are able to be pacifist'd, but From a savestate I used to learn Mima's patterns, I discovered that no matter what, you can't time Mima out, so the same might be true of Evil Eye Sigma.

Yeah, I don't think it's possible. I was dicking around on EES's second phase without shooting and it just didn't end. I dodged like 10 waves or something and there was still no end in sight.

Also you only need 2 or 3 big powerups from the wall section in order to get max power before the green blob's.

I have a better idea. Screw the perfect Extra run that I was trying to do. This "new" one will be much more fun. And interesting. And no, you're not going to find out unless I can actually pull it off  :V

Stage is possible without double tapping... but you have to be lucky about the spawns of the blobs. Really lucky.

EDIT: Regarding my "idea"; it works. It's "plausible".

I just died 6 or 7 times to Lunatic Eirin in Stage Practice, one of them being right when Astronomical Entombing ended. That fight is a load of crap.
