So, did things calm down? Can we start caring about C77 or something?
It looks outvoted by almost double, so no matter our standpoints on this, it seems any further arguments than what's already been done is redundant anyways :V

It's really safe to assume it's dead.

The concept was may or may have not been intended as a rippoff, but if you have crappy oral skills as much as he does, there's just no excuse for crappy comments at the same time either.

In other words, even I'm hating on him. Right after I got the whole Touhou fanbase pissed :V <-- Indirect apology for anyone that doesn't get it. Maybe I've went a little overboard with some things.

A real new gem has appeared in the Unlock XBox comments:

>If this guy actually mentioned ZUN as his inspiration, I probably won't hold much of a grudge against him, but nowhere do you hear anything about the real father of danmaku.

Yup, no exaggeration, someone claiming "ZUN invented danmaku."

So yeah, it's over, the "Western touhou fanbase" is a large sea of ignorance which will passionately mobilize against anything that remotely resembles the creation of something productive.

I don't want to ramble on at length here...I don't know why it affects me so much. I guess it's because I've mostly spent last year building up my Anime DVD and Blu-ray collection, haven't had the budget to import Undefined Fantastic Object or the SWR expansion, and thus have sort of been away from Touhou stuff until returning now. And a rather depressing scene greets me.

Fuck, Touhou fandom is retarded.

EDIT: Lishy, you're not helping the matter and you're making yourself look like an idiot with all this "true fan" crap. Please stop, immediately. Just because the rest of the comments on there are just as ridiculous as yours, doesn't mean it gives you the go-ahead to flood the pages even more.

I like how this einhorn fellow cherrypicks retarded statements and generalizes them to the entire WTC whilst ignoring stuff that actually goes his points in the issues that actually matter, like the Wriggle screenshot.

EDIT: For those knowledgeable about other versus shooters, how common is placing the "powerful attack warning with character's face attached" bar in the upper-middle portion of the screen, like PoFV and that concept art do? That seems REALLY lazy, even more than most everything else here.

On that note, He doesn't happen to mention 'declaring spells' in story mode, does he? I'd watch and find out, but his voice makes me tired.

TSS doesn't have it, at the very least. They just throw bullshit at you without warning. And throwing stuff across the screen like Sakuya.

Danmaku games are danmaku games...there are only so many bullet patterns that exist, there are bound to be repetitions across games. What's the similarity, just the fact they have spinning bullets or something? If you could show me the specific screenshot of the Wriggle pattern you're referencing, it'd likely to be find hundreds of other examples of similar patterns in other STG games.

It's not an ingrained fact coming from the nature of fandom itself. I can think of many fandoms that aren't retarded: Marimite, SF Literature Fandom (the fandom that first invented the word "fandom," btw), etc.

You know, you can also call any danmaku game with no spaceship player characters a touhou ripoff, like seihou, Valkyrie sky, etc.

And you can also call any old FPS a woflenstein ripoff, so there.

I think we have already established this. It easy to take things from other series that don't have a rabid fan bases. Its harder to use things from lets say Starwars which is always notorious for taking things from culture.

Also I need to stop coming to this thread.

At the end, the dude who "came up with this game" isn't quite the idiot either. This whole thing looks like an attention whore attempt which he has succeeded clearly.

The dude does say he played fantasy games and it comes from there. I kind of bet he knows everything about Touhou, ZUN and the fandom. And I am sure he also knows that pulling off such a thing will cause people to mass rage for being 1:1 copy ( this is no longer about similarities ).

Lets just hope it doesn't end up with him winning from pity votes, then. Hes playing the ignorance card like it matters in this case, so I can see the blind majorities pitying him.

At that, all the people who go 'Its a genre they're all the same' will end up on his side, regardless of how wrong it is in this case. Hes getting negative feedback as well, but its not very organized, and it'd need to be.

...In fact, This could actually go well for him. Score one up for 20/20 hindsight.

I haven't been here for almost a week so I didn't even know this was happening. Admittedly, I had to laugh at the whole thing. People will believe what they will. I appreciate the few of you that are trying to quell the mob, and have an actual understanding on how things work. I feel trying to explain myself would only bring out more trolling and bigotry, so I will refrain from fueling the fire. Just let it be. I will say a couple things though. Twinkle Star Sprites?, not Touhou? 9, was the original inspiration for the versus mode as I had that game on Dreamcast?. I did not trace anything. I was not even looking at screenshots of the games when I was sketching. The connection some of you made with a screenshot is purely coincidental. I have played these games, and maybe that was something that stuck out in my mind. There really is not an infinite number of ways line patterns can be made. It was just something somewhat simple to get a general idea. Again, believe what you will. Pretty sure this post will start more crap anyway.

By beej.

Finally something mature. Although most people won't rest until he admits though... Like how prisoners in the past were tortured into confession or that kind of stuff. Still, it looks even more suspicious now. Oh boy.

The whole "looking like PoFV/TSS" is only one issue. What did he say about the main game looking almost exactly like something out of Touhou?

And I love the fact he had to add trademark and copyright symbols to everything.

In any case, no.

Do you think he has a choice? Better to put the trademarks as a precaution rather than attract another group of rabid fans. (Maybe there are TTS fans out there?)
