Patchouli: A Little War in Bland Old Library crashing

(hopefully someone here's played this)

The game runs completely fine...until I start to actually attack something.  The instant I kill the fairies at the beginning of stage 1, the game crashes and I get this error message:



Which doesn't help me at all.  Anyone have any experience with this or know how to solve it otherwise?

I've experienced it. The weird thing is that I can run Acceleration of Patchouli perfectly.
Oh, of course, for whoever does not know, we're talking about that Touhou clone of Suguri.

Same here, it's so bizarre.  Maybe it has something to do with point items?

Well, actually, Ran glitches for me in AoP if I use her dash attack that pumps her heat to 999%, but that's for an entirely different time and place.
