Sakuya A is hardly the best shot type. To show you why, try doing a no bombs run with her. When you don't have something like 40 "get out of pattern free" cards, you see that she's actually quite mediocre.

Well, yeah.  The 40 "get out of pattern free" cards would be the attraction.

And I breaking that habit.  I 1cced Hard with a different character.  I'm just wondering how much better I have to become at the game before I see why it's worthwhile.

SakuyaA is a pretty terrible shottype!

She has her homing, and...what else? Her attacks are the second-weakest in the game and her Cherry rate is the worst, IIRC. Then there's the usual Sakuya difficulties like highspeed focus and the fact that she has to fight Merlin, although that also applies to SakuyaB who is absolutely broken, so...
Not sure about her bombs since I never use her anymore, but as I recall they're fairly powerful. But other than that, I've never seen her as much more than Homing Reimu-lite :V

ReimuB and MarisA are both more powerful, and SakuyaB's bomb is for scoring, not free pattern bypasses.  How is she broken?

When you first encounter the Prismrivers you must face one of them before they all come together for their first spellcard, and its during that attack where who you shoot most decides who's personal spellcard you face.

During their opener before the card you're forced to face one based on who you're playing as (Reimu fights Lunasa, Marisa fights Lyrica, and Sakuya fights Merlin).

UFO stage 5 lunatic no deaths at long last. I'm confused though, because this run was terrible. I really don't know how I got away with this when it's a pretty subpar run. The only things I can think of are these three highlights on Syou:

1. A good example of my death bomb reflex is on Radiant Treasure Gun. I don't even consciously think to do it, something just told me "nope, not gonna make it."

2. That last dodge on her second non-spell... :O I don't know why I didn't bomb, but I'm glad I didn't.

3. I timed out Aura of Justice due to Syou's random movements being lol. Better to time it out than die or bomb though...

Thanks to these things, I had a bomb in stock for Vajra, and as you can see I REALLY cared about risking it. :V

Ah well.  I am noticing that I'm preferring ReimuB for Extra, mainly because Ran is practically unbombable (and her patterns seem to either have Ran standing front-and-center, which benefits straight shooters, or have Ran below me, at which point Sakuya:A's homing is useless).  Perhaps as I grow in skill and play more Lunatic, I will acquire the same preferences for the normal game.

Anyway, since this is the accomplishments thread, I got past Ultimate Buddhist for the first time.  Extra is hard

Some ~250 tries (~228 Border Team, 20 Scarlet, 2 Youmu) later, I captured FREAKIN' SAIGYOUJI FLAWLESS NIRVANA on the second try with Youmu.  Around 40 minutes.  Around 75% of all deaths were on the first cycle.

SFN IS COMPLETE CRAP

Ran is practically unbombable

As a general rule, Extra bosses are unbombable, as well as Stage 6 bosses' final cards in the main game.  In fact, Yukari's final spell goes as far as being super-immune to bombs, being the only card I can think of to freeze the spell timer during the bomb animation.

Could someone explain the Always Shooting thing for some things? Does that make it harder somehow with Youmu solo or is it just done just to do it?

Always Shooting + Final Optional Spell Cards (e.g. "Hourai Elixir") basically means that you obscure your vision with shot fading animations / Time Points. Youmu solo spouts a fountain of Time Points while shooting (unfocused), and an obscuring option and a high unfocus speed.
Going to see how many attempts it will take me to pull of what SP did ages ago.

At this rate, I'm going to have to guess in the thousands. It looks so much more manageable in the replay(s). As soon as the timer hits about 50, everything starts to overlap.

I captured youmu's 2nd to last card... yes that's right I captured something of youmu! how awesome is that? and it was even hard difficulty!! But wait there is more... I also captured her last card! wait, what? Is that possible? Well yes sir it is.

Timing that thing out is easier.

You just need to figure out the opportunities to stay under her. Its no so bad once you figure it out. I'd recommend you watch replays to learn the correct path.

Timing that thing out is easier.

You can stay under her for a while when she goes to the bottom right.  You can stay under her even longer when she goes to the bottom right if you're using lolborderteam because you can just gap to the other side instead of having to leave early.

Also she aims her movements at you as indicated by the sound.  My strategy for this card doesn't involve using that to my advantage in any way, but it's certainly possible.

I think i'm having a change of heart about UFO... it not as bad as i have made it sound. I just think its too difficult. I really suck at bombing and because of how difficult the game is, it makes my resources rather scarce especially because i lose power to dying.

But if i just stay in Practice Start its suddenly a fun game. There is certain cards though...

Anyway, i have accomplished!!! Capture of Good Omen "Nirvana's Cloudy Way in Purple". Nice.

Also, capture of Light Magic "Magic Milky Way" and Great Magic "Devil's Recitation.
I have even been very close to a LFO capture.

I did the same thing with Marisa B. If you aren't shotgunning and Yukari keeps moving out of your way and you can't center yourself thanks to the density of the bullets, it's quite possible.

Perfect Cherry Blossom 1CC!!!

I just got an urge to see how far i could get in PCB Lunatic. Apparently i could beat the game. Default lives and two lives to spare. Score is only 660M because of how the scoring system works and how i didn't really take many chances. A great deal of mistakes happened too.

Nevertheless, a clear is a clear. I'm very happy about this as it means i have now beaten 3 Lunatics. IN, MoF and now PCB. Which one should i do next?
