But when I saw the guy do Possessed Fairy, clearly an unprofitable attack, I noticed his strategy: Take a few pot shots at Orin before the fairies wake up, go above her, lure the fairies there, then go back down and take Orin down.

So I tried it myself to see if it was just an illusion of ease.

I realize nobody else cares, but 'nut, why were you one of the people telling me Marisa B PCB was useless because her damage output was so terrible, yet you see everyone in IN as useless but Border team, which has hands-down the WORST damage output of the whole group?

Then again, I guess that's an issue here in general... Everyone tells me damage output is everything, yet nobody ever uses anything but border team in IN.

I should be able to answer this pretty well.

• Smaller hitbox (proven by the way)
• Longer timeframe for using a Last Spell; i.e. deathbomb
• Ability to use a Last Spell with 1 bomb in stock Wiki is oversimplifying (or just plain incorrect about) this point
• Not the worst damage output
• Probably has the best bombs overall
• Homing / Lock-On Shot Types

In short, the highlights of the Border Team are in the auxiliary (support) abilities.

If you can get over the faster focus movement speed, sure. You do get a bomb back if you end up not depleting your bomb stock too. Though, that more or less is a wasted bomb if you have extremely poor "bombing reflexes" anyway.

Youmu Solo is actually another very good Shot Type if you can control your Ghostly Half / Myon.

Both youmu's and yuyuko's focused speed are 1 star, just like reimu and yukari? Unless you meant faster unfocused speed, which ofcourse feels rather fast if you're not used to it. As for bomb returning, you get one with 2 or fewer bombs IIRC, it happens a lot to me that I end stages with 1 or 2 bombs and I get one extra, it's perfect for no-death runs.

In short, the highlights of the Border Team are in the auxiliary (support) abilities.

My issue is the fact these support abilities are apparently supposed to be that great here, yet they don't seem to make a difference in other games. Most of these supporting stuff (aside from deathbomb stuff, but really, most of you guys can deathbomb relatively reliably without the need for the extra time) still exist in games like PCB and UFO in the form of Reimu Homing, yet people insist that Needle Reimu/Christmas Tree Marisa should be used instead because their damage output is so much better. Heck, going back to what brought on this topic: any time I mention the shot type I use in topics a few people always make sure to let me know just how much better the statistically best shot type is due to how much stronger it is, yet for IN damage output doesn't seem to be all that important.

While it bothers me, I can at least understand why people keep trying to push me to use the better shot types. However, IN seems to use an entirely different standard when the game itself doesn't play all that much differently from the others (scoring with teams nonwithstanding).

Yeah, pretty much anyone not named Alice can do this. In fact I believe I used Yuyuko's a crapload during my first IN 1CC just ignore that it was easy mode because I was that terrible back then.

Just use Yuyuko's bomb the same way you use Marisa's Stardust Reviere in PCB or ESoD and it will pretty much take care of any card giving you trouble.
