I 1cc EoSD Normal, IN Normal and UFO Extra...and 99,72% of LLS hard but >_<

I just did a dodge in VoWG that was so seemingly impossible, fast and crazy that even watching the replay won't help me sort out what the hell happened.

The same happened to me yesterday while playing PCB Hard.. During Chen's boss battle I did something unconsciously, I went up during a spellcard, moved around, came back and didn't die! That is so weird to watch: http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=5580

:< Working on IN. Captured half the cards now with Magic Team (and everything with Border Team but I'd already done that). Revisiting everything with Magic Team... a lot of things become a lot harder when you don't have Ran dealing damage all the time for you.

It took me 13, and it was LLS anyway, and PoFV is probably going to be my second at this rate, and either way I still suck so badly I can't consistently 1cc Hard (except, you know, LLS), so YOU'RE REALLY NOT HELPING CON SARN IT

ohyeah and I can consistently get to Shikieiki with a life or two in stock, because Cirno is the Strongest

Months of play don't really have anything to do with it.  It really just depends how many hours a day you practice and how hard you push yourself when practicing.  bjw once said that he basically skipped straight to grinding Lunatic right away and ended up getting to a high level of play in a few months, iirc.

Oh, and I think I got mine in like 9 months or so.

I went straight from Normal to Lunatic. With the help of Practice Modo and *cough*Trainer*cough*. Don't get me wrong. It's entirely for spell card practicing purposes.
More lives = more confidence so this drastically reduced my panic deaths. Also improved my no focus movements.

I've been playing for 11 months now and can almost 1CC a few Hard modes. I should probably play a bit more, but I usually ragequit for the day if I die anywhere in the first 3 stages. :x

Edit: Woah, I just played EoSD Hard with 1 life at the start of the game and made it to S6 midboss Sakuya. I bomb-spammed my way through a lot of stuff, but to make up for that, I was somehow able to dodge like a lunatic player whenever I was out of bombs. Perhaps I need to have more trust in my dodging skill.

Months of play don't really have anything to do with it.  It really just depends how many hours a day you practice and how hard you push yourself when practicing.

This.  We can throw around relative timeframes all we want, but it's all meaningless without context.  It took me about 2 months to clear my first Lunatic, and donut 11 months.  That doesn't make me any better than him.  You have to take into account differences in our playstyles, where I force myself to higher levels of play by constantly playing difficulties just out of my reach (practicing Lunatic for my Hard 1ccs, for example), and where donut admits to having found too many excuses to not touch Lunatic until as late as possible.  I also started Touhou in the beginning of December 08, and got my first Lunatic 1cc toward the end of January 09.  Perfect timing for holiday binging during school's winter break (to the extent that I literally had migraine-inducing danmaku dreams from playing too much), which meant massive improvement over a short period of time.

I started playing Touhou early April this year.
That I 1cc' d lunatic so soon was mainly thanks to the 8 weeks of free time I had during Juli and August where I was playing way too much Touhou.
All the playing time before was nothing compared to the time spend in those 8 weeks.
