Hm. Let's see... You can avert this easily using VirtualDub. After importing the video in go into the Video Tab at the top, and go Filters. Select Add, and add... say a Brightness / Contrast Filter. Leave it at Normal and 100% B/C. Now select the Filter and click on Cropping... Edit the video dimensions as required. If you're unsure of where to cut it, just click OK and check the Output dimensions.

BTW I did two back to back lunatic 1ccs of HRtP lunatic both routes, and for the first time with "default lives." Until now I've played with 4 starting lives instead of 3 for arbitrary reasons, so I stepped down and did both routes to prove I don't need that extra life. I also discovered the trick to Kikuri's first phase: Screw trying to survive, focus all your efforts on hitting her four times to end it.

Sorry for the double post, but I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY perfected Sanae. I didn't perfect the stage along with her, but that makes 3 stage 5 bosses perfected on lunatic (and I don't exactly think I'm going to be perfecting Sakuya, Orin, or Syou any time soon...). Before that, I also beat stage 4 no deaths due to pulling off at least five death bombs successfully.

... Sakuya I understand (rank). Orin... might take a bit, but she's really nothing compared to these other two really. Syou is Syou on Lunatic though.

Donut complains about messed up videos

You should see the lightspeed videos I'm getting. Switching sound off for both the games and the recording does wonders for performance but throws synchronization completely out of whack. Completely unsalvageable stuff.

I think I have a one-bomb, no-deaths lunatic Sanae replay parked somewhere.... never thought of it as much of an achievement, really, considering I got it pretty much out of nowhere during the first stage 5 practice I ever did. Bombed like crazy during the stage, though, since it's easy to get to Sanae with full power either way.

edit: two bombs.    essentially miles away from no-bombs.
one on her midboss noncard and one on her first boss card. MarisaC by the way, I failed to get three options to hit on pretty much all attempts though.  :V

Hmm? Really? I think my best run was stage 4 (maybe 5 but I doubt it) and I had no extra lives earned  And I don't think it's really a skill problem because the enemy simply dies before I get time to get an insane point combo.

Definitely. :V I can consistently beat EoSD Stage 6 with only one death; compare that with IN 6B, which during my 1cc accounted for more than half of my deaths in the whole run (five deaths to that stage, IIRC).

On Hard, only Hourai Jewel is really hard. But on Lunatic... gah, everything other then Dragon Bullet is just WALLS WALLS WALLS. And how the hell are you supposed to do the second nonspell?!

...anyway *calms down*, got to Hourai Jewel on IN Lunatic with Border Team. Had two stupid deaths on Kaguya without bombing, so I might've won, but I still feel good about it. Also capped everything in Spell Practice Stage 1~5 except Stage 3/4A's Lunatic Last Spell, which I can't unlock gaaah

Just because there's a chance of getting walled for a few spells doesn't mean the whole boss is luck-based. I can consistently beat Hard Kaguya with only one or two deaths, but I can hardly even beat any of the other final bosses on Hard without getting a game over, even if I reach them with almost full lives. The trick for most of her spells is to stay as high up as you can while still having a chance to respond, and dodge everything early. If there's no opening, follow the bullets downwards until there is. It's a pretty basic strategy, but it seems to work well for a lot of Kaguya's spells, especially Buddha's Stone Bowl. Also, Spell Practice can help, of course.
Then again, things might be completely different on Lunatic, or I might just play IN too much and not the others...

If i said i had never lost to it i would be lying but the higher difficulties add those aimed waves which can make the spell even more claustrophobic and thus cause the wall. Normal gives you a lot of space to move around but then again, it is quite a long time ago i played normal regularly. I have only done it once recently and i captured all she had except for the first spell. Everything else seemed pretty easy aside from LSI (Whatever it wanna be called on Normal, Shallow Cowrie Shell or something like that) which was a close call but still pretty managable.

Ah yes, speaking of LSI. I've gotten a much better capture rate of the card now. Its something like 1/4 or something. I don't know how you are supposed to do it consistently though. I often get shot by those red bullets or get trapped in too tight corners to be able to dodge the stars...

Its not THAT bad though. At least not compared to several UFO cards. And some Pre-UFO cards as well.

Holy damn, this game REALLY doesn't give you much room at all for error. I perfected the first three stages and my first death was to the bulletspam at the start of Stage 5, and I was still down to my last life by the time Shinki was over. I think Yumeko must have killed me something like three times, once due to a laser actually spawning on me during the streaming part.

That Shinki battle, though... @_@ I went in 3/3, and perfected the first few phases. Then Shinki's wings start to appear, I fly above her... BAM, Shinkibug'd, and since I tried to death bomb while I was going 'wait what' I was left at 2/2. Did pretty well on that phase and the next phase, and then there were the cheeto lasers, which brought me down to 1/0. 'Captured' the phase with red arrow walls and purple streamed bullets. The Devil's Recitation was probably the best one I've ever done, one death and no bombs, only dying to the really fast section near the end. So unbelievably tense. 'Captured' the loleasy final phase, of course, but seriously... that bug death messed with my mind quite a bit during that.

Glad that's finally over, though, I've been attempting that on and off for a couple of months now. That just leaves SA and UFO.

IaMP hard 1cc. I discovered the secret to this game: Road signs. Farthest reaching attack of its kind, counterhits dash attacks (which the AI LOVES), and the AI keeps on falling for it. Thanks to them, I reached Suika with only one death (because Yuyuko's second spell card makes it so that you can't even shoot without getting hit).

The rage started on her second spell card. For some reason (probably her slow speed), Yukari can't dash out of the way of the incoming loli from above like everyone else, so the only recourse I can see is to gap away. This would be fine, except that I so suck at 421s that half the time it doesn't work! DX I lost whole lifebar (thankfully not a full life in this game) because of that! Still, I managed to reach Pandemonium with 1 1/2 lives. While dodging the easy first two phases, an idea suddenly clicked with me: If Patchy can take the easy way out via ROYARU...FUREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, maybe Yukari can do a similar thing? Once the third phase started charging, I took the time to activate my spell card (Charming Quadruple Barrier) and let loose. It grants total invulnerability and can damage Suika up in the air. I also happened to have 6 whole uses of this, and even though her black hole started decreasing the usefulness of this, by the time I ran out (and immediately died), I had only one more air kick left to produce the above screenshot.

I went back into StB and capped 6 more spellcards, putting me at 50 cleared. 6-1 is so easy after you realize its just streaming.

...That was disappointingly easy, actually. I was expecting a real challenge from this seeing as I remembered it being really fast, tight dodging, but after a few attempts I saw a reliable route, and yeah. Bah... I really need a new goal now that I've finally managed MS, but I don't feel like doing for another 1cc for a while. Can't really think of anything challenging along those lines now that I haven't got any no-focus Extras left, either... anyone have a suggestion? :V

This is sort of something I've been trying for a while now. I've actually being trying it on Hard, though; furthest I managed on that was 20 seconds remaining, although I still managed to die twice after that. I doubt I'd do as well on Lunatic, but still... I'll definitely give that a go, too.

Any attempts are going to have to wait until tomorrow, though, becauasjdhhhhhhh

Probably only marginally related, but I made some touhou chars as commanders for Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, and managed to complete a number of missions using them.

Fun part was probably figuring out how to match up the magic spheres and special skills for them. Starting races weren't as fun to try and figure out, though...

Spam Level 2 spells :V

No seriously, that's it. You gain score like whoa in PoFV Extra, I recall getting at least two spare lives during my Cirno vs. Yuka match (I didn't complete that run btw because Shiki is a cheating bitch :V). Level 2 spells can be quickly cast if you're not using lolyoumu, clear tons of shit, and depending on your character, kill tons of fairies which results in massive amounts of points.

VoWG is a completely different story than MoF. Just trust me, looks are where the similarities end. I never found MoF to be that hard either.

MoF has much less space to move in, while VoWG is faster.
I still can't capture MoF Easy, while I can VoWG Lunatic.
