Can't get above 8 Frames in SA or UFO
« on: September 13, 2009, 09:07:24 AM »

Whenever I play UFO or SA I can never seem to get above 8 Frames, even during the menus and the first loading screen, I all so get this weird picture in picture like effect during gameplay and the visuals get jumpy as hell every now and then. These are the only two games that do this to me, every other one runs just fine. .Has anyone else ever experienced this with these two games? And if you did were you able to fix it and how?

Set your frame skip to 1/3 in Custom.exe that should let you run them faster. (Although still slow.)

That, and make sure you update your DirectX with the version that comes with those games, they have an incremental update that the later games require.  Also, try updating your videocard drivers.

If you have any sort of graphical glitches, you might also want to check if your system isn't overheating at any point.

Hmm, do you know what brand and model your computer is?  Or is it custom-built?

Erm... hmmm.  Well there's an easy way to figure out what your machine is.  In Windows, go to Start > Run, type in "dxdiag" and click OK.  It'll start up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, which'll give all sorts of info on your machine and software versions.
