If you had dug around enough in that vein ("What's the deal with Funsei Mountain?"), or in particular had asked one of the Warlord's Lieutenants, they might have said something, if they didn't think you were up to something. However, you spent enough time there that I was seriously considering it, and meeting up with the lower mountain youkai, then red and blue tengu + Kyouko.
