Remember fun, obscure games and feel old here.
« on: September 05, 2009, 09:29:01 PM »
Basically, all those really fun games that just never seemed to be heard about by anyone else, or that are just so old that everyone has forgotten about them.

I got to this topic because I was thinking of a ton of random N64 games I played.

I guess I'll start us off, anyone remember Glover 64? You basically played a glove that had to guide a ball through a bunch of ridiculous levels and puzzles and it was actually somewhat entertaining.

God, I had that game. I was terrible at it. >_>

Well, my obscure gaming childhood really began and ended with the Sega Saturn. To this day Guardian Heroes, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force III are still three of my favourite games of all time.

I'm going to say this now.

Barbie and the Mystery of the Carnival Caper.

I grew up on that game. Goddamn it was fun. It still kinda is.

Gex 64 was hilarious. The levels and enemies were overly comical and his random quotes were so much win. "Will Cheech and/or Chong please report to the front desk."

Also, Threads of Fate on PS1 was pretty awesome. I still need to finish it though...

That's alright, Rou. Mischief Makers is the only game I can remember. I mean heck, I only caught Guardian Heroes because of you.

Also, Reader Rabbit 1 and Treasure Cove, bitches.

Never had a SNES, I was really more into PC games at that time.

I feel old in this thread all right.. Cuz N64 is still considered a new system to me >=P

One of the oldest games I own that I really enjoyed that probably isn't too well known is probably plaque attack. Of course if I tried it again now I'd probably not believe I ever enjoyed it. I can enjoy a game with dated graphics and all. But Atari games are just beyond that.

Moo and Wing commander is guuud.
I prefered space wars over pong though.

Has anyone ever played Startropics or it's sequel? I've loved those since I was little.

I've downloaded maybe 14 different emu files for tof/dp and all of them had the same collision issues.
I used to have the ps1 version, but gave it away because I didn't understand rpgs back then. :(

Treasure Cove
Best in the "Treasure" series, although eventually I upgraded to Operation Neptune.

Super Mario 64
Not obscure enough.  But worth reminiscing over.
If Super Mario 64 gets into this topic, Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel demand attention.

The two games that come to mind for this topic are
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Both of which are from mainstream franchises but nobody seems to know anything about them.

I actually forgot about this game. It had a really great soundtrack I can never find also. Half tempted to see if my emu will work with it.

I own 1, but never played 2. For some reason I always recall getting bored of the game by chapter/level/whatever 4. Not cuz the game was boring to me then, but rather I'd lose interest then lose my save or password or whatever. I really can't remember.

I'm going to try using pSX (which I use with Linux) after I get the ROM. Good thing I've been saving up points.
