I loved Kanako from the moment I read her wiki entry. A goddess who came to Gensokyo and wants only for humans and youkai to give praises by partying joyously, celebrating? More dieties should be like that.

There is nothing wrong with the hat, and in tribute to that I even made a spellcard for it. But it is not enough to impress the faithful Yasaka followers.
We seem to be here dealing between badass and moe factor. Obviously Suwako is more moe than Kanako. But Kanako is more badass. And let us not forget the original question Kilgamayan the yama asked:
"Which character is better at playing second fiddle to Sanae in the Moriya shrine"
Suwako is doing -nothing-. She only earns faith by poor people who feel sorry for getting her ass kicked. Kanako is the front line doing the "sales" as the conversation went between Marisa and Suwako.
And a frikken huge twisted ropes representing snakes with pillars are obviously more impressing than some moe hat. Look at Reimu for example. Her outfit alone means serious business. Why do you think Marisa braided a M on her apronskirt? Think about it.

If more people had faith in Suwako she would become badass too.
