On topic:
It was during my very first day of exposure to Touhou. To understand why these "frilly-dressed anime girls with superpowers" are so memetically popular, I started by sifting through character profiles in the Touhou Wiki (the latest game at that time was Ten Desires). My first thoughts after reading the profiles of several characters (ironically not including Reimu and Marisa) was "Why the heck is a series of games with such crappy official arts so popular? Its fans must be extremely bored"
The funny part is that I soon became one of these "bored fans"... :V

I used to play on Normal and my friends teased me about it, so I lied and said I beat MoF on Lunatic. Then I felt super guilty, so I tried MoF Lunatic and beat it on my first try. Dem bombs though.

Shortly after entering the fandom, and before playing IN, i thought Eirin was the Stage 5 boss, Reisen the Stage 4 boss, and Tewi the Stage 4 midboss.
I pronounced Keine like Horatio Caine.
For some reason MoF looked more recent than SA to me.
It took me years to read Utsuho's name correctly, and not as Utusho.

I think I really got into Touhou in 2009 when A-One started to release their "Toho Eurobeat" series. At that time, when Vol.1 cover was unveiled, I remember... mixing up Reimu and Marisa. Don't ask me how it happened, it just did.
