Quick reminder to people that the only other time we've heard the term "Seelie" was back in Nue Quest, back in Avalon, where we reunited with Mamizou. So either we're back there (unlikely, Yukari did close the connection), or oh boy we really went back in time.

I don't think this is Avalon. Nue Quest Avalon was Scottish and/or Welsh in origin, as I recall. The names Beatrice and Cecily are more likely to be (British) English.

>You make your way downriver. It twists and turns here and there, but within a couple minutes at most, you can see thin plumes of smoke rising above the trees. Moments later, you come across a clearing on the banks, ahead and what seem to huts made of wood and mudbrick. They are scattered everywhere, with little effort made to conserve space or materials, as you are used to. They are round, with dome-shaped roofs made of...you're not sure what. Something dried, you imagine. You can see a few people in the distance.

> Fly to the village proper and land.
> Survey the surroundings from the ground.

>You fly to the edge of the village and land.
>The terrain here has been cleared noticeable, though a number of trees remain to provide shade and the like. In fact, a couple of the homes seem to be built around trees. There are small gardens everywhere, growing a variety of unusual crops; you quickly pick out wheat, oat, and a number of other grains not often seen in Gensokyo, as well as what seem to be some root vegetables you cannot easily identify without getting in close. You note quite a few chickens running around between the houses and the worn footpaths, and a number of waist-high creatures with somewhat goat-like bodies and strangely thick hair. Are those sheep? You've never seen one yourself, but you're heard of them via Mistress and Patchouli.
>There are people milling about. The women are largely dressed like the fisherwomen you saw before, though some have more fashionable headgear, if any at all, and a few seem to have found some more stylish cuts. The men seem to favor shirts that drop to their knees, and trousers underneath. You imagine, frankly, they must all be uncomfortably warm. Or simply used to it. Many are tending to their gardens, some are watching over the goat-like animals or trying to keep the chickens under control. In particular you note a lot of children of various ages at the animal-related tasks. Some pause momentarily in their work to regard you curiously, others barely spare you a glance.
>There don't seem to be roads, exactly, but rather a number of footpaths that crisscross around gardens and homes. You note a few later buildings here and there, closer to the middle of the village. One that particularly catches your eye is somewhat obscured by the trees and what seems to be a wooden palisade.

>Are the men and women alike also giving us some curious looks or just the children ?

>Yes. Just children are more likely to stare, or watch without getting back to some task.

> Head to the eye-catching building.

>You make your way further into the village. While there doesn't seem to be much in the way of planning, you do find there are some relatively straight paths, marked by ruts from wagon wheels. You have to dodge around a few chickens too stubborn to move out of your path on the way. Among the simple homes, you note a few more buildings. One is a blocky kind of building with a sign bearing a picture of a foam-covered mug, and some kind of stylized winged and clawed creature. Another building is just a hut with kind of a lean-to attached; you can't quite see into the lean-to from this angle, but the sounds of metal hammering against metal give you a pretty good idea what is going on. You note a stable close to the palisade, a couple of brown horses peek out from their stalls.
>Drawing closer to the palisade itself, you can see it's made of logs driven into the ground in a rough oval with the tops cut to a point. More curiously, you note that they are set into an earthen terrace about half a yard high. Past the palisade is a round wooden building made of stone and mud brick, the latter serving to fill in holes in the former. It stretches up two stories, to about the tree tops, ending in a flat roof marked with rough rocky crenelations. A banner dangles limply from a flagpole on the roof, you can't quite make out the design on it. Two stout wooden gates allow entry into the palisade, currently hanging open. The dirt road leads up a couple more earthen terraces to the front doors of the fort.

>You make your way past the palisade and fly up to the roof. Before you really have time to investigate, you hear a voice yelling at you in something intelligible and hard-sounding below. Glancing down, you see a man with a hoe in a garden behind the fort, looking up at you. He brandishes it threateningly.

>You land near the garden. The man is no longer brandishing his hoe, but he is definitely still saying harsh-syllabled things you would have some difficulty even trying to pronounce. He is a balding man with a fairly impressive beard and a stout build, with thin eyebrows that are currently knitted together in consternation. He is current waving an open, curl-fingered right hand up and down, holding the hoe with his left. His tirade takes a less harsh tone as you approach, you hope he noticed your expression.
