>It's not really clear.
>You close the gates behind you and head inside!
>The front room is a scene of panic. There are maids everywhere, voices are babbling all at once. You quickly pick out Mistress, who is shouting instructions at them and getting them organized. While she does not have your talents wrangling faeries day to day (which was her task before you came), her presence and force of personality does the job in an emergency. Some smoke pours out the open library doors. Off to the side, you see Patchouli, laying unconscious, while Koakuma hovers over her.

One more try at prodding Sakuya's past.

> Have we, Sakuya Izayoi, worked all our lives at the Scarlet Devil Mansion? Or at least in Remilia Scarlet's service?

And now, for the task at hand.

> Does it seem like Mistress needs aid in dealing with the maids?
> Can we see the Young Mistress or Meiling anywhere?

>Sakuya is the name that Mistress gave you. The person and the name before that is no more.
>You don't immediately see that Mistress needs assistance.
>You do not see either Meiling nor the Young Mistress.
>Patchouli is clearly unconscious, and seems to have some burns.

It is no use trying to explore our past right now. Try again with a Magatama and some evidence.

So, it's reasonable enough to assume that Sakuya killed someone (or multiple someones) and vilifies herself for it, a sentiment which doesn't seem to be shared by her old peers (the "mourned and honored" part implies that either they thought highly of her for it, or simply did not know about it). After which either she found Remilia or vice-versa, and Remilia gave her a new life, new home and new name as her maidservant, and that she knew of her time-manipulation before all of this happened.

The above is just a reminder to myself of my current thought process, although anyone else may feel free to weigh in on my conclusions. Needless to say, Sakuya's past is one of my favorite mysteries in the touhouverse, and I'm certainly very eager to find out Purvis' take on it.

Anyway.

>"To the two of them: "Mistress ! Patchouli ! What happened around here ?!?"

>"There was an explosion!" Remilia says, "What are you standing around for? Go find them!"
>Patchouli, being unconscious, has little to contribute.

> Have we ever had huge emergencies like this before? If so, what is normally expected of us in these cases?
> In fact, has Patchy ever blown herself up in an experiment before?
> Rough estimation of the number of maids in the current vicinity.

>Not during your time, at least. You aren't sure what is precisely expected, outside of what Remilia is shouting at you.
>Explosions are less uncommon than you would like, but this one seems particularly bad. Usually she is more careful than that.
>There seems to be a couple dozen listening to Remilia, and maybe half again that many panicking and running around, or trying to hide.

>Who takes care if injuries in the event someone gets hurt?

>Generally, Youkai will get better over time. As for you, or for things they cannot easily recover from, generally Eientei is called.

>"Yes!" Remilia shouts, before returning her attention to shouting at the maids. You think she has them in hand in the short term.
>You discovered them in your old life, with the assistance of the pocket watch. You taught yourself how to control them. Thus, you are also very hesitant to experiment.

>You run in, covering your mouth.
>The smoke, thankfully, is not very thick. You suspect there is a fire or two somewhere, but it shouldn't be too large or raging out of control. What does catch your attention is how many of the shelves have fallen over. Usually, they are neatly arranged in kind of a spiderweb-like pattern with the tables in the center, but now books and shelves have fallen seemingly at random. As you enter, you can hear another shelf collapsing somewhere. Others still stand, while others still have fallen against each other and precariously hold one of the other up.
