All you'd need is a configuration with either one berserker and earth jobs, or two berserkers and no wind jobs.  The odds are apparently something closer to 0.3% or something.

I think people will accept you cheating a bit for that fight let's be real
Lower actually assuming I didn't bungle that part. I'll show my work later but let's just say the freelancer priority thing turns this problem into a weird mix of combination and permutations and ugggh.

EDIT2: blah blah I got tired and lazy trying to write up my notes all fancy and easy to follow for non-math people also I got to a point where I couldn't adequately explain why it worked other than "well this is how everything adds to 100% so :V " if you want to see work I can scan in what spaghetti mess I have I'm pretty confident it's solid but otherwise....

~CHAOS MODE~ PROBABILITIES

No dupes: 72.675%
1 pair: 25.65%
2 pairs: 0.95%
3 of a kind: 0.7125%
4 of a kind: 0.0125%

Rolling a legal #reg run: 3.75%
4zerkers4sandworm: 0.078125%

I was working on finding how many unique party combinations exist which seems really easy at first glance, but THEN the Freelancer allowance kicks in and made me cranky as Monk/White Mage/Ninja/Chemist is different from White Mage/Monk/Ninja/Chemist... but Monk/White Mage/Ninja/Chemist and Chemist/White Mage/Ninja/Monk would appear identical to the end user or maybe the Monk would slot in elsewhere we don't know the exact sorting priority algorithm and uggggggggh :fail:

Plus Natural should guarantee that you have one at least one nonsucky job class for Sandworm(Galuf Freelancer). Anyone with RegChaos Natural has no need to worry about having to fight Sand worm or Soul Cannon with only Berserkers Only.

4 Berserkers isn't too bad. It's just when you're doing a Solo Berserker Challenge is when everything sucks.

4 Berserkers is still "oh great, it's RNG hell"; and Sandworm's kind of the worst moment for it because even correct swings are doing less damage because there's four of them.

Oh yeah definitely. I just mean that in comparison, 4 Berserkers won't have to suffer as much a Solo Berserker would.

I'm tempted to see how well 4 Berserkers work really. brb opening VBA.

4 Berserkers is less "playing" the game and more "moving from point to point stopping occasionally for computer simulations to run." I'd still call that suffering, but that's why I didn't sign up for the risk I'll take my itty bitty chances of it coming up naturally  :V

On a related note, I went back to the Calculator class myself to figure that there's a 18.5494% chance of getting any particular job on your team in ~chaos mode~ (sans risk or course)  Any other stats you guys want figuring out?  This is fun I'm actually using my college degree sort of for the first time in far too long  :3

So yeah decided to do 4 Berserkers on the GBA version.

Around level 40 was sufficient to beat the Sandworm.

Sol Cannon wasn't much of a problem though I did come close to dying.

The 6 Puroboros enemies are still annoying.

World 2 isn't difficult at all

Pyramid of Moore can be a bit annoying

Rift sucks due to the lower running away rates, and even Chicken Knife doesn't want to help me there. Early bosses aren't a problem though.

TwinTania was close since I forgot to equip Coral Rings. In fact I only had one.

Necrophobe.....let's just say my levels are 45/43/44/45. I barely managed it after multiple attempts. Grinding in the Rift is out of the question really since I can't survive against Iron Giants. Maybe I should attempt to steal some Mirage Vests at the Shrine...

Exdeath...I got to his SPAM METEOR phase before he murdered everyone. Surprisingly avoided White Hole completely. But his attacks just hurt too much. Might go get those Mirage Vests to survive Iron Giants.

Edit: And shortly after I posted I tried again for no reason, and got to Neo Exdeath. Faris and Lenna are dead though while Butz and Krile are at full HP. Faris has the Chicken Knife though. And Almagest pretty much deals around 3000 damage, which at my level is more than what I have.

TIME FOR LEVELING!!

Edit 2 [June 7th]

So spent all day grinding away for many, many things.

I got 4 Mirage Vests (7 Total at least, 2 of which I lost because my Berserker decided not to run away)
4 Thor's Hammers (1 from the chest in the castle, 3 from Rare Steals on Death Claws. I got more but again, couldn't run away in time)
4 Aegis Shields (1 from chest in the Forest of Mu, and the other 3 from Gorgimera steals. I actually have 3 extras too)
4 Bone Mails (1 from Drakenvale Mountain, and 3 from Necromancers in the Void)

And Butz is currently level 61 while the rest are at 59 or 60. Still cannot defeat Neo Exdeath, BUT I'm getting somewhat close. Specifically, I've hit the point where there's only 1 part left. Then he double Almagest'd me. Current strategy so far.

Butz, Lenna, and Krile wield Thor's Hammer from the back row to mitigate the physical damage. Faris uses the Chicken Knife since she is the best candidate, has an easier time hitting compared to the Hammers, and deals over 5k a pop. Everyone is equipped with an Aegis Shield, Crystal Helmet, Bone Mail, and Reflect Rings.

So pretty much my reasons and also concerns

Aegis Shield: Negate Petrification and 33% chance to avoid spells, including Almagest. I believe this also includes Vacuum Wave sometimes? Either that or I'm just getting lucky with the Physical Evade.

Crystal Helmet: Nothing better for Berserker's really..Except maybe the Thornlet but the HP Sap would make things difficult since I have no healing.

Bone Mail: I WOULD use Mirage Vest for at least one guaranteed physical attack dodge, but Grand Cross is one of the 3 moves that ends these battles for me, so I need to remove a lot of the ailments. I just wish the Fatal/Toad/Mini statuses were included...I also realized THIS is why Almagest is dealing about 3k damage, since it's Holy Elemental.

Reflect Rings: I can't outdamage Neo Exdeath before the spell caster part is gone, and since I can't just Odin it, I need to reflect it's spells. This also has me relying on a heavy bit of luck. I NEED that part to cast Delta Attack and have it be reflected onto Almagest part to instantly kill it. This does however provide some extra damage as well due to the spellcasting.

Since at the moment ~60 isn't enough, I think I'll try again at ~65. Least Berserker has decent HP...

Thronlet would definitely be the way to go on SNES except for useless Lenna who can't underflow from Thornlet alone. Not sure what level you'd need on GBA or even what you'd be on SNES due to that whole berserkers can't run due to a bug thing so have to power Chicken Knife fully before you get Berserker and can only use on bosses.

The only thing I could suggest would be 1 or 2 zombied characters, with Death Axes or Assassin Dagger for the chance to cast death on the bone mail users, plus they'd take some hits as well. But it'd still be possibly worse for RNG.

As for Shinryu, I think it'd be doable with a Bone Mail, Aegis/Ice Shield, Flame/Coral ring setup. (Aegis if using Flame Ring and hoping to block Tidal Wave, Coral Ring + Ice Shield for if you hope Demon's Eye doesn't come up too much, but maybe some zombies could be targeted by it?). The first option gives you healing from Roulette, Death/Assassin Axe/Dagger, and Atomic Ray while leaving Lightning at 1/4 instead of 1/2 but opens you to a possible game over right at the start of the fight. The other leaves you with Roulette, Death/Assassin Dagger, and Snowstorm as healing options on Shinryu but puts more RNG into later in the fight since Demon's Eye will hit you unless you bring zombies and hope he targets them instead plus the weak to lightning thing. Or you could have 2 with one setup and 2 with another, or maybe 1 with one setup, 1 or 2 with the other and zombies.

I thought about using the Death Sickles/Assassin Dagger for Death Procs as healing, but then that brings up the issue of reflecting Spells, especially to take out the Almagest part. Granted this means I can just run with Hermes Sandals but...

I'll give it a shot with 2 Zombies wielding an Assassin's Dagger and Death Sickle, see how it goes. Also since I'm on GBA, I can't use the Magic Underflow glitch, and if I was on SNES I wouldn't use it anyway. Nor would I have access to Chicken Knife due to the Softlock it would cause.

Edit: Ok so I like the idea of the Zombie Death Casters, but the main issue is...them not casting it when needed. It's not terrible but this does make surviving Almagest easier. The only problem of course is the whole "Dealing with Almagest" thing now, as well as Spells. One Holy is pretty much an insta-kill.

I did have an attempt where Butz was doing well surviving on his own, but then a 1500 Thundaga took him out. I then decided to equip a Flame Ring instead of Hermes Sandals and put on the Diamond Helmets I had(Forgot about these at the time honestly). Currently doing another attempt, so let's see how it goes.

I should probably put Wall Rings on Lenna and Krile since they're my Zombies. This way if a Delta Attack comes in, I can reflect it and hope for Almagest to be removed. Plus who knows, maybe a Reflected Death proc will kill off a piece of Neo Exdeath (I wish).

Edit 2: Ok so I'm going to level up more. I need more HP for sure since  the Vacuum Waves and Almagest's are just being too much of a pain in the butt. This will at least up my damage output, which will help since I looked at Garlyle's text and saw the Grand Cross part goes a bit berserk itself under 15,000 HP. GREAT!! So I'll need extra HP for the Meteor part.

I might even try 3 Zombies in hopes to get as much Death procs off on Faris since she'll be the main damage dealer. Will be slow but....

Least I can use Zombies to help make grinding easier :D

Also not gonna bother with Shinryu. No way, no how. Well maybe if I'm level 99.

IT'S BEEN DONE!!!!!

I had to grind up Butz and Faris to level 80 for this while leaving Lenna and Krile at 70. I wasn't even paying attention to this fight for most of it until the very end. The Spellcaster used Holy, which got reflected for about 2200 damage, and I heard the death sound effect, thought it was odd the back piece was dead, then saw Faris hit the Almegest part and heard another death sound.

Then thunder effects.....

4 Berserker run complete...and without the Magic Underflow Glitch. Man, Sandworm, Necrophobe, and Neo Exdeath are just RNG Hell here. Not sure if there's a 4th one for me to consider the bosses as The 4 Bosses of The RNGpocalypse.

All the characters in credits.

Good job. Hopefully this will dissuade anyone else here from trying this madness, or better yet RK will make some sort of sailsafe that prevents this lineup in the first place.

Good thing the GBA doesn't have the fake targets and more fake targets after killing something. That's pretty much why you would use the underflow glitch on SNES anyway. Though I think at that high of a level even without the glitch, the Earth Hammer may be useful. Even if it's possible on SNES without it, I would definitely use it for sure if I ended up with that hellish party.

HEY KIDS unless we break this tie tomorrow I'm going to just flip a coin or something as to what avatar I'm changing to  :V :V :V
I didn't wind up flipping a coin, I did something slightly more entertaining:

Two identical cat toys each sprayed once on top and bottom of the sushi roll with the catnip spray.  Whichever one the first cat gets to first decides the tiebreaker!  (green is for last year's artwork, red is for attack sprites)

Shaking a can of kitty treats to entice them into the living room.  One cat is already making her way with the other, more food motivated cat certainly following.  The one present is the smarter of the two and the one I suspect who will be succeeding.

As expected, Taters beelines to the catnip experiment first and dives instantly for the red toy.

Not to be outdone by her sister, Ceci follows and goes.... directly to the catnip spray :fail: is k bby this is why I have two cats to run my experiment with.

Thanks to my lovely assistant(s), it is attack sprites I will be going with (and you should all follow long in solidarity!)
Though I think I'll use either the casting sprite if I go with Time Mage/Bard or the item use one for Chemist as let's be real that's what they were doing all game to fight last year  :V

Monk, Red Mage, Ranger, Dancer should definitely be an interesting run. I wonder what the time for it will be.

Also some awesome person put in a $2500 donation, so everyone with Berserker Risk is currently guaranteed a berserker unless a lot more people sign up for it. I really don't know how the Berserkers are actually allocated though, but I'm guessing it prefers to give everyone one first, then 2, then 3(but the people that got 3 zerks last year were 2 from risk and a berserker roll due to not having enough to guarantee 3 zerks?). Wonder if there'll be any other huge donations before it that might force us into guaranteed 2 or 3 berserkers(or even 4 for Chaos)

Good Physical Damage right there. Once Rapid Fire is learned, it's going to start becoming easier.

My strategy for this would be simple.

Make Bartz be Ranger once I get it to learn Rapid Fire ASAP. Before getting Dancer, I'd also make Faris one. Once I get Dancer, Faris would be probably be either Monk or Dancer. Once Bartz learns Rapid Fire, switch him back to Monk(Highest Strength Stat + Highest Strength Class) and give him Rapid Fire to punch things to death. Faris stays as Ranger for Rapid Fire since Chicken Knife is best on her(Best combination of Strength and Agility). Alternatively I could just give Galuf/Krile Ranger to learn Rapid Fire as well for Dancer since relying on RNG Sword Dance could get annoying, and Rapid Fire does ignore defense/evasion as well. Lenna stays as Red Mage cause lolRedMage.

Only way that team could get even better is if it was Mystic Knight instead of Red Mage, and Chemist instead of Dancer.

For a hot second the team in the lead was actually what I rolled with last year so that would have been really cool to see run and see where I floundered about but it was not meant to be.
