UFO demo not working on Windows 8

I downloaded the UFO demo, and installed it normally. When I try to run it, I only get this error message:

Since the config data wasn't found, the initialized file th12.cfg was not read. Is the folder not permitted to be written to, or is the disk full?

Any ideas?

By the way, clicking the button to save changes in config.exe does nothing as well.

It seems like you're having trouble with the folder's write permission. You should be able to fix this from the folder's properties menu.

I tried to deselect read-only in the folder properties, but it always reverts to read-only every time I check again. Also, since all my Touhou games are in the same folder, they are all said to be read-only by my computer. However, only UFO finds a problem with this.

Oh, weird. I reinstalled the demo into a folder on the desktop and it worked fine. I don't know why it has a problem with Program Files.

Yeah, the games can be a bit odd about that, but it's good how you got things working.

Program Files is a by default read-only for security (don't want ordinary programs deleting stuff from Program Files by accident/on purpose).
I like to keep my Touhou games in Program Files, so this is how I set them up.

Go to your programs folder, right-click the game folder, and select "Properties".
Click the Security tab and click "Edit".
Under "Group or user names", click "Users". Under "Permissions for Users", check "Full Control".
Click OK and OK.
Repeat for all other games.
