Dnh Ph3 Project, Exotic World ~ Oblivious Existence

This project wasn't a fanmade of Touhou Project or any other project
But this project was an original project , similar to usual STG game
Screenshots only can be seen if you're a member~
And the screenshots will be keep updated when I already make a good progress

About this game
  • All of the characters were my OC, the genders are ambiguous like Len'en for some reasons
  • All of the musics were originally composed by myself
    I'm still using other musics as substitutes
  • All of the effects, shots, and background were originally made by myself
  • This game consists 3 main stages  + 1 extra stage
  • This game only consists 1 difficulty
  • This game doesn't consists power system or item drop
    Instead power system, I develop a gimmick for playable character, I will explain it later on below
    Instead item drop, the score and bonus will instantly added to your lives, spells (bombs)

Important Notices (some of it)
  • From Exotic Existence ~ Cease of Fate, the name has been changed into Exotic World ~ Oblivious Existence, due to some reasons
  • The character's gender are ambiguous, so neither he or she
  • Instead using terms "bomb", I used terms "spell" here, it makes things easier to understand
  • The songs and the boss sprites are just mere substitute for the real one
  • Even though there is no difficulty, the attack can become easier or harder depends on your current progress in the game. If you're not doing well, the attack become easier, but if you're doing too well, the attack become harder
  • The playable character gimmick was like, it can increase your player performance, in this case, increasing the number of player shots
    If you were playing the game / see the screenshot, there is a white bar like on the left screen, it indicates the gimmick
    The more you fill the bar, the more you shot more bullets
    How to fill it? Just do some grazing, the change of color for the bar indicates the level, white(standard) -> lighter cyan -> cyan -> blue(max)
    The bar will be depleted to zero if you get hit, so death bombing is a bad choice.
  • Also, you can change player spell in the middle of the game, just use User Key 1 button (or C button) to change it, the indicator was on the right with your score, graze, life, and spell
  • About scoring system
    Basically, the more enemy shot more bullets, you will get higher score once you kill it
    If they disappear by itself or running away to out of screen, it doesn't count as kill
    The bar on left can give you some score once you were death, it can increases your score up to 20.000

What still lacks
  • Spell Name Declaration for Boss
  • In-game Dialogue Script / Function
  • Stage 2 and the rest
    Since I'm trying to finished up stage 1 first so I can just copy paste the script and apply to other stages
    It was much more easier this way

  • Boss1.txt -> The pattern for stage 1 boss, without background, includes nonspell & spell
  • Boss1.txt -> The pattern for stage 2 boss, without background, includes nonspell only
  • Plural1.txt -> Stage 1, includes boss1.txt, some generic enemies & background
    Stage Theme from CtC, Extend Ash ~ Hourai Victim
    Boss Theme from BPoHC, Emperor Road ~ So cute!
  • Plural2.txt -> Stage 2, includes boss2.txt & background, no generic enemies
    Stage Theme from CtC, Higan Retour ~ Riverside View
    Boss Theme from BPoHC, Fresh Summer Breeze ~ Plastic Vortex

Got any screenshots or videos to show? Examples of the game will encourage people to want to help out.

As for me, I can definitely arrange and enhance music. I'm less good at original tracks but have been arranging many different tracks for my own game so that's something I can definitely do.

The same method i used in my Scarlet Chain script
Floor as usual
Wall was combined between 2 walls and the door and set like bookshelf in scarlet chain script
Column is kinda tricky, i actually stacked the column with 16 layers making it looks thick and managed to cover the part that looks stacked with shadowing
Fog treat as the most top layer, making gradient to all other layers below it

The shadowing for background was done in editing the picture first before putting in script~

Also, just mentioning again, ALL of the background was made by myself, so yeah~
I was taking reference to internet, but i purely made all the graphic by myself, including the brick pattern, and the fog

In terms of cut-ins I can take a swing at it, though I've never actually done any sort of art for any other games I have drawn cut-ins for fun at times. An old example of which can be found here for reference on what me doing something like that now would probably look like.

about the cut-in, i was looking for someone who can redraw and recolor
after seeing your art, i was thinking, should i asked you to redraw my art, or made your own style based on sketches i make~
i will answer it later on, since i'm gonna finish all my sketches first~

Hi, i'm interested at making the cutins too (i usually do lineless drawings but i can make them with lines if you want)
NMNB : IN (easy).
Normal 1CCs : EoSD, IN, MoF, SA, UFO, GFW, TD and DDC.
Hard 1CCs : TD.

Thanks. It seems a bit hard to do. Do you have a link for your Scarlet Chain script? I search it but I found nothing :c
Graphics are also nice. Do you have any tutorial to get a such result? I want to do back like that for my project but... I'm not very good at making texture :c

Sorry, sometimes i remembered my scarlet sister script name as scarlet chain~

Quick-tutorial from me about making texture
I usually split things into two main, the main color and the pattern
I usually used Adobe PS to create it
It takes time to made it, but the result is satisfying

1. Creating pattern, taking example of my brick floor
i used pencil tool to make 1 rectangle tile 16 x 16 px and set the fill 0%, and set the effects with inner glow to get the shadowing
do this a lot of time to create your own pattern, making other shape other than rectangle would be harder, but depends on you
and apply image the result (do not merge, in case you need to fix it)

2. Choosing the main color, taking example of my brick floor
i choose dark orange as main color and just throw bucket tool to an empty new layer
and a layer of dark orange background was created

3. Stacking things up, taking example of my brick floor
I put the pattern in top of dark orange background
And set the pattern blend to overlay and the result was like quite similar to in picture
Do note, overlay cause the background has a lighter color, so the background should be dark colored
Again, just apply image, do not merge

4. Finishing touch
Each pattern has their own style finishing touch
For floor, i like to create shadow on left and right using inner glow and radial black white with blending overlay to create lighter color in middle (duplicate the result of stacking layer, resize the height more than 100% and set the fill to 0%)
For wall, i like to create shadow in bottom, left, and right and radial black and white with blending overlay to create lighter color in top side (duplicate the result of stacking layer, resize the height more than 100% and set the fill to 0%, and move slightly to top get the radial set in top)
For column, i used wall pattern and cut it into smaller size and give finishing touch like other wall
*Extra note, i would like to give moss effect on the wall, but the result is too much moss and making things too green, so i just keep it like that~

Hope whoever read the quick-tutorial can understand what i meant
Yeah, i'm sucks at explaining stuffs~

If you're talking about me charging for my work, I'm doing it for free. I don't trust my attention span enough to ask people to pay me for anything substantial in the pixel department, and this seems to be a smaller project (four bosses, no midbosses, at least one player, and a few fodder enemies if I'm reading it right).

Visual is awesome, as I expected. Meiling's danmaku is good and suit her character (not sure about the "base" difficulty though,  but if it's hard mode then it's ok.)

Really, being appreciated by someone who is better than me, it's a bless of course

So, about that background...
Yeah, I'm putting all my efforts to make that background, glad people found it really good
Even though on overall, the color is not many, but the result was very satisfying
Unlike Touhou Project or Len'en Project, I'm more like using one color to present the atmosphere of the stages (similar like RSS I guess?)
Since the stage 1 mentioned Earthen Artificial Being, so something earth-like color (brown or orange in this case) will relate to that
So people can understand the situation and condition inside the game easier
Since I'm trying my best to create the plot from places, characters, stories into together and people can understand it easier with just little information was given

Also, Meiling is just a "substitute" as i mentioned at above (Important Notices), along with the songs and inside the script file (Readme)
Since the real one isn't finished yet~

About difficulty, this game only has one difficulty, and so far i think this was on normal-hard like difficulty
Since Easy was like there's no challenge at all, but if it is too hard, people won't enjoy it, so balancing it will be hard
Also, try to reach the second spell without death (still at 2 lives), the second spell pattern will be different and harder
Easier pattern for second spell can be accessed if you have 1 life or less during the declaration of spell

And I hope that you can finish the Sumireko script earlier XD (I'm looking forward to it) ~

What is new
  • Adding some generic enemies for stage 1
  • Nonspells for Stage 2 Boss
  • Includes cutin function for boss
  • Patterns for stage 1 boss are mostly changed, with the boss now is moving around
  • Adding new kind of shot
  • Stage 1 BG is darker than before, for making dodge easier

  • Meiling, Eirin, and Ran sprites & cutins are just merely substitute

Soundtrack has been posted
It contains 12 in-game songs and 1 bonus song (the 12th track) with additional 4 songs (the arranged version of some in-game songs/bonus song)
Everything is in midi file and in piano instrument
Everything is originally composed & arranged by myself

The final result might be different from the current one

For the next version,
  • It would be in package script (if possible)
  • The background has been polished to have more colors and better than before
  • There will be no substitute for sprite and cutin anymore, but will be recolored to prevent spoiler (if possible)
  • Changing in player's shots and spells
  • Default system has been modified to have a better appearance
  • Player's gimmick has been modified to more player-friendly
  • Some of the boss's pattern has been changed, includes the generic enemies as well
  • Includes dialogue (if possible)
