Things start to get unfunny when you realize that since it's an English-language channel for a foreign audience, most people in Japan have no decent way to watch it in anything near its original 1080p format.

Eh, I think this is like re-inventing the wheel. "Mythological beings" or "folkloric creatures", as cuc put it, is a fine descriptor that no one needs to look up while at the same time being pretty accurate, too.

Personally, i always use the word Youkai for Touhou because in my mind youkai, demon and monster are 3 slightly different things:
Youkai = folkloristic supernatural creature, especially if coming from oriental cultures
Demon = supernatural EVIL creature
Monster = generic creature with unnatural physical traits :V
