Maybe you're just thinking backwards? But given that possibility, Reimu actually being an alcoholic Japanese game programmer that secretly lives in a imaginary eastern world, masquerading as a shrine maiden, is pretty much as unlikely as the original idea. And also that would mean Reimu's male, which is a problem to many fans' sexual fantasies...
