It's apparently a hardware error (kinda like what happened with several Wii systems being unable to play Brawl - you'll either have the rare problem or you won't).  It's not specifically Smash 4 that's causing it, because it's been sporadically been reported since the WiiU's release.

It's a "you get it or you don't" error though - if you haven't seen it yet, it's not going to happen to you.

It's specifically smash it affects though; loading up bayonetta's glorious HD ass was pretty funny in my living room.

The best part about that setup is, even if Yoshi didn't stop shielding the punch is unblockable anyway.  That's a really innovative use of jab though.

I finally got to play some proper 8-Way Smash last night/this morning and I must say that I have been waiting a long time to be able to play Smash and have no fucking clue what's going on :V

We played some 8-player Smash while being drunk yesterday, and that was freaking glorious.

Especially on standard Battlefield. And with the only item activated being Smash Ball.

I caved and bought a Wii U (the $200 repackage deal was too sweet to ignore) and Smash 4.  Then today I bought a lovely Zelda and cool looking Little Mac Amiibo.  Really curious how these things will work.  I'm fascinated by evoling AI, so much more than I am with real humans, heh.

I actually find it more difficult to beat my own Zelda amiibo than my human friends. (whom are pretty hardcore Smash players, as I have become via association and exposure) For the most part, the AI takes the first 20 - 30 levels trying to figure out how to play based off of your play, and spends the remainder levels learning exactly how to kick your ass. I personally think they're a phenomenal learning tool in improving your Smash skills, as even after they hit level 50, they keep adapting to your playstyle to abuse your weaknesses.

At least, they certainly would be, up until they start deciding to resort to the most scrubbish tactic of just constantly spamming roll dodges, QUEENZELDY!

I think you can press L + R + X at the amiibo menu to reset your progress, save for the name and colour of the amiibo, but I can't confirm. The core idea to keep it from doing that, though, is to just keep from teaching it to dodge. So uh, yeah no, you can't reliably evade it, so remember that L+R+X thing. :V

I like the idea of a friend that always knows how to kick your ass.

Also, I love how Nintendo tries to motivate kids to walk (Play coins, Pok?walker from Pok?mon HGSS) rather than sitting around the house and doing nothing with other people, yet it's endorsing (and supporting) lonely neethood by giving you a friend that can always beat you as badly as you beat it. Make up your minds! DX

At least they are catering to both type of them. 

Got my Amis to level 40 in just about 5 games.  They are already destroying level 9 CPUs.  Crazy how fast they learn.

when you get footstooled you can't tech the landing, and if you get hit while you're down you automatically get forced to stand up and there's a brief window of vulnerability while getting up. If Megaman messes up his timing though you can escape, otherwise it's legit

e: lol apparently you need rng for this to work since the metal blade has a 50% chance of vanishing every time it's dropped. So this is not practical in the slightest.

huh, this explains why an rare occasions people have hit me out of my up b with a downsmash. I always thought they were somehow hitting me right before I grabbed the edge but while testing that never seemed to work. Turns out it's not before but at the same time :V

Speaking of Amiibos, hear about The Tale of Waveshine?  3rd place in a tournament.  Apparently Amiibo AI is being praised as the best fighter AI ever made, since it can learn.  Personally, I like teaming up with mine instead of killing (or trying to kill) them.  The thought of Zelda and myself fighting side by side excites me. :)  I do plan on grabbing more amiis eventually though.  Thinking a speed ranger like Pit, and a heavy hitter type, like Ike.  Skip a couple monthly visits to fast food and grab some amiibros instead.  :D Thanks to working retail, I can buy it as soon as it ships, since I am the one stocking them.  :3
