Dumb thing happened when I was playing...I died immediately after shooting some Rainbow Poop, the poop healed me right as I died, and I had full health...BUT I STILL DIED. What the hell.

I got my first
Spoiler:
Dark Room
clear.
Basically, I wanted to see if
Spoiler:
there was an area similar to the Chest when going to Sheol
so I play a game with Isaac and the D6.
The run didn't started all that specially (although I got Mom's Contact, the one with freezing tear effect relatively early).
I took at some point Guppy's Tail and because of that I was starving for keys.
Eventually I rerolled an item into Doctor Fetus. I started processing what just happened as I also happened to have found before the item that makes explosion heals you.
You can guess how things went afterward. X D
I abused Blood Banks and got a ridiculous amount of money and then gambled like crazy. I also managed to get many Luck Up pills.
In the end, I was swimming in keys and bombs. X D
I also got some poisons bombs somewhere in there and Midas Touch toward the end.
It wasn't the most overpowering damage I have made but it didn't mattered because I COULDN'T DIE! X D
(It's probably a good thing because those
Spoiler:
rotating attacks
at the end seem hard to dodge.)

Speaking of which, Docter Fetus doesn't seems to synergize with the Parasite and Technology.

Anyway, I saw the ending when you clear that area. It makes lot of sense considering what Isaac went through.

You can wish for anything!

I found Dr. Fetus to be rather underwhelming in Rebirth.
The bombs do much less damage than in the original and don't seem to scale with your damage stat from what I've seen by using a Devil Card at one point.
So you really are depended on finding those bomb upgrades but it doesn't even synergize with all of those. The burning bombs for example don't affect it.

But Ludovico technique kinda turns it into Epic Fetus with crap damage. :V Though I hoped I would get a permanent bomb that explodes periodically.

Spoiler:
All hail DIOO for DIOO is the greatest item. and I guess D4

You mean D 10 right?

(although I always read dio too ;_;)

And yes the d4 is hilariously ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Mom's Knife+Quad Shot is the best/worst thing ever. Your knives only move like a centimeter away, but everything dies in one frame except major bosses (which will be lucky if they live through the first whole strike, still) There's my Azazel Chest clear!

Azazel may seem hilariously overpowered at first, but it's actually -really- hard to beat anything past Mom's Heart if you can't fix his range before endgame. All the bosses after that point -slaughter- you if you try to get up close. Mom's Knife or Brimstone are the easiest fixes, if you can manage to find them... although mom's knife isn't exactly long-range, but it's enough to make do (along with it's silly damage- and I think your damage ups actually do something now! Because Azazel's normal blast seems like fixed damage.)

305 items and 137 secrets... oof! I'm gettin' there! >.o;

I meant exactly what I wrote. :> It's a
Spoiler:
combination of the D4, D20 and D6. So the D4 basically has the same major effect but DIOO ((D 100) (how are you supposed to roll that anyway with so many sides it's basically a sphere.) is more awesome.
DIO is the correct pronounciation anyway. Nobody can convince me of the opposite.

Azazel scales normally with damage like anyone else. And his lack of range does make him troublesome by the later stages of the game. Unless you have Tammie's Head with which it is basically a won run.
I'm still a big fan of Eve. Babylon is just such a good item and now even gives speed and activates earlier for her.

A fun thing is Mom's Knife with Ludovico Technique and 20/20. It gives you a remote-controlled knife which is orbited by another knife. Interestingly though 20/20 with Mom's Knife alone does nothing.
There's also some weird item combination that involves the Tiny Planet with which you can fan it out around yourself in the front and back. I assume the item responsible for the fanning would be Quad Shot.
About the lack of range with Knife+Quad Shot:
It should just be like it that you have to charge for a really long time to get any distance, because from what I've seen so far the throwing distance gained over time by charging relies on your tears rate.

oh god you mean you actually managed to unlock that

If Azazel's damage still scales I guess he just does so much in the first place it's hard to tell? It feels like bosses take the exact same amount of damage between having no boosting and then picking up Money is Power with 60+ pennies. And yeah, Eve is pretty good now. Samson went from horrifically bad to good, too, although he's still kinda weird but that's not a bad thing.

The lack of range was there even if I charged- it maxed out at about the range Azazel's brimstone gets, aka not much, and I had to hold for quite awhile to get it there. But everything died so fast that it wasn't a huge deal. Now, if I had to go through normal rooms instead of just Chest minibosses (where there's only one or two targets most of the time anyway), it would have been a nightmare...

Mom's Knife+Brimstone gives you a knife shotgun with practically no charge time AFAIK. It's like a windstream of knives. I had a friend get it, haven't done it myself because Azazel isn't brimstone.

I've been really meaning to play this. Only problem is I still haven't finished the first game and I have the DLC still unused.

Backlogged so badly...

Is it vastly different from the original game or the same game but better?

It is the same game but better in every way there is literally no reason to ever play the original (DLC or no) again.

Okay yeah a couple characters/items are nerfed but otherwise :V

p.s. Ludovico Technique and Tiny Planet do not play nice together. But I was Guppy and had a billion flies and Daddy Longlegs soooooooooooooo. (Forgot to note down the seed though :( ) EDIT: I mean it's not horrible or anything but it's definitely way more awkward than straight up Ludovico.

PSA: Never take Eve's Mascara and Quad Shot together.

It kills the tear rate.

My only save was to D4 until I eventually got Ipecac+Monstro's Lung and destroyed everything.  And then I added Tiny Planet and started making tornados of EXPLOSIVE MURDERBARF.

Recently beat Blue Baby (or ? ? ?) inside the Chest. I did not use Azazel, but rather Magdalene. It seems that whenever I attempt to go for
Spoiler:
The Lost
, a character just happens to get a really good run. In this case, my first item was the Magic Mushroom, and I shortly after got the IPECAC. Somewhere after getting max damage, nothing really stood a chance. I sadly didn't go through the Boss Rush, even though that would've been prime time to do so. Inside the Chest, I got Tiny Planet, and while at first I thought that I ruined my run, it made me an unstoppable fortress of bullets. When you deal 1/8th of Mom's Heart damage with every shot, you know you've won already.

I am now officially a Golden God. Yay! :D

I beat the chest for the first time with Azazel. I have heard he is overpowered as a character. Maybe it's true... if you're a really good player, unlike me. X D
I got a ton of death before eventually really starting to make it far. Because I was Azazel, I got a free Mom's wig in the firts floor. : P
I got my hand on a Placenta and a used a Sould Converter backed by a Bible Track (which synersize if I am not mistaken) to eventually get max red hearts.
(I should I then dropped the tract because of those useless Soul Hearts. : P )
I also got Charm of the Vampire. In practice, it meant that despite not being the best dodger, I eventually had little HP problems.
In fact, I was able to explore one of the womb floor for special rooms because I found a red hearts secret room.
I also got Broken Mirror, Tears Bomb, Lost Contact and Lump of Coal which I used to make the last floors boos battle much easier.
I also got a Full Health Pill and manage to keep it for the final battle.
The Map helped me save time getting to the boss. Usually, the boss is waiting on the fartherst away room from what I have seen.

About the final battle in the chest, the boss love to summon weak monster. Charm of the vampire + Placenta did wonders there. X D
I got a Book of Shadow in the Chest just in time for the final battle which was nice but not needed anymore at this point. ^^

In any case, there is now one last ending for me to get. :)

*****Update*****

If anyone want to try
Spoiler:
Dad's Key
. here is this seed :

Also, if you're lucky, you might get at a later floor
Spoiler:
Mom's Knife
at a Devil Room.

I am now officially a Golden God. Yay! :D
Congrats!

Apparently Eden's total amount of "stat-points" isn't fixed at all. I started with 4 Red Hearts and at least 2 in every stat outside of tear speed and luck (starting items were Tooth Picks and Pony). So you can get screwed over with him even more than I thought. Or get a godlike run that is won from the starting floor. :V

Stan is also the hardest boss out of the 4 "End-bosses".
Spoiler:
Discounting Mega-Stan, whom I also feel more comfortable fighting for some reason.
It's just so rare for me to get out of that fight without taking damage since I either run into the bomb-socks or get stomped in the last phase. Dodging the projectiles of the three others is just so much easier. :V

On another note: I've beaten everything with everyone on Hardmode for fancy red borders around the icons and playing on Normal it feels like the game is throwing keys, bombs and whatnot at me like it's nobody's business.
And turns out those babies you unlock from beating Mom's Heart aren't actually familiars but rather multiplayer-babies for your partner. Only noticed that when checking those achievements on Steam. :V
I also got
Spoiler:
"Dead Boy" via carefully nuking everything in the Dark Room.

I play on Normal because playing on Hard requires effort. No, but the real reason as to why I play on Normal is because I started playing on Normal, and can't get away from it. That's literally the only reason.

In other news, recently beat The Chest with Eden. It didn't start off too good of a run, but with Guppy's Paw, and a lucky drop from a mushroom (Magic Mushroom), it turned out to be alright.

Well, Hardmode is rather cheap anyway and I really only did it because I would feel uneasy without having that done. I mean, it doesn't really unlock anything for the most part. (Which is a good thing.)
It doesn't actually increase the challenge in terms of fighting but mostly gives you less drops so chances are you're going to miss out on shops and item rooms, leading to frustration.
(Unless you tell yourself that there would've been just a bean in there. :V)
Imho Hardmode could've for example increased damage taken and made the enemies faster or something.
(But not more health as the only change since that doesn't increase the challenge but rather makes it more tedious)
Right now it gives you more enemies and more champions which is the one part that is alright about it.

But what am I saying, I'm done with it anyway.  :derp:
And the shortcomings of Hardmode have been discussed her already as well.

Hard Mode does change the room layouts to be a little harder. Making all heart damage a full heart when you're already barely getting any heart drops would have been kinda lame. I think it's alright, they couldn't have really done any more than they did and it does make it notably harder.

It feels like I get overpowered runs way less often in Hard Mode, which makes me wonder if they actually don't use the "special item" modifier like they did in the original game in Normal but do in Hard or something. They might have removed it entirely with the advent of so many items?

I meant to replace the less drops thing with the increas in damage intake and stuff. But this is a topic that you can discuss forever.

Wikis still list some items as "special item" but I never bothered with that and only found out about it a few weeks before the release of Rebirth when the original kinda got re-hyped. :V

I got a fast Cricket's Head on the latter and ultimately became so strong I did Boss Rush for the lulz.

Have a really sweet seed (though it was definitely helped by my early Credit Card so probably best if you have that unlocked): EF8C AWSA
Spoiler:
Rosary, Goat Head, The Bible, Box, Notched Axe, Mom's Underwear, Brimstone, Pentagram, Ceremonial Robes, The Halo, Humbling Bundle, <3, Scapular, Fire Mind, Mom's Heels, Bob's Rotten Head, PHD, Cube of Meat, Dead Dove, Little Baggy, Wooden Spoon, Safety Pin

First floor
Spoiler:
Goat Head from the curse room the Rosary gave me enough health to enter even though I was Judas
and
Spoiler:
Credit Card from The Box
into a ridiculous devil room on the second floor (
Spoiler:
Brimstone, Pentagram, Ceremonial Robes
) made it. Though I died on Isaac because it was my first time in the Cathedral ever and I also stopped getting much in the way of soul/sin heart pickups near the end. :V

EDIT: Oh yeah also I only missed a chance at the boss rush by like 30 seconds.

These achievements are the worst thing, you practically have to get a Book of Revs in the item room on the first two floors :/ (And it's pretty dang rare. I think the library can spawn but that's -also- quite rare, needs a key which you likely don't have any spares and you might pick the shop by accident, etc) And there's TWO, since you have to do Bandage Girl as well, so you better hope your early book of revs spawns the right one! AUGH

That reaction's actually fairly normal for quite a few things in the game the first time you see them.  But they're cartoonish enough that you just sort of disconnect from it after a bit.

I've tried using it the moment you get hit, so that it maybe prevents the hit but that didn't work. It also doesn't give immunity to damage you inflict on yourself.

Lately I managed to beat
Spoiler:
Mega Satan
.
I had the Rubber Cement as well as decent attack (+Book of Bellial IIRC) and a high rate  of fire.
I like Rubber Cement, the effect mean you get more accuracy and splash damage as the tears keep attacking after hitting something, even an enemy.
It also makes those Worm trinkets viable. I wonder how it interact with Parasite. ^^
I forgot if I had the Wafer but I had lot of HPs. Still, the fight ended more close than I would have liked it to.
The only things beating it unlocked
Spoiler:
was the last ending and a new title screen. The ending was sad. :( Not totally unexpected but still.
On a unrelated note, someone needs to make a video of that fight with some Touhou music.  :D
Since it's possible to turn off the music ingame, it might be doable. :3
On an other unrelated note, we need a Touhou version of that game!  :3

In other news, recently beat The Chest with Eden. It didn't start off too good of a run, but with Guppy's Paw, and a lucky drop from a mushroom (Magic Mushroom), it turned out to be alright.

Guppy's Paw is not as good as in the original but it's still an high tier item. Use it once when you're about to die, take red hearts you find meanwhile, rinse and repeat.

The nasty in the game is over the top but the one in Isaac life is much more sadder.

From what I have heard,
Spoiler:
it only makes you immune to ennemy tear damage while you hold the spacebar button. IIRC, it doesn't work against physical or beam damage.
